I pick open a Kensington laptop lock (tubular lock). This lock is special as the usual 7 pins are reduces to just 5 by having one empty spot and a dummy pin - really weird. The picking setup is with the lock locked up in a little computer clamped in a vice - enjoy :-)
The ball on top of the center post seems to be useless. What if they made it bigger? Would your tensioner slip off or still work? Looks like that lock can still be impressioned. Have you tried that? What about taking the lock apart? Actually, I don't think I've even seen any lock picker take apart a tubular lock. Would be interesting to see why they made those changes to the pins. I think I saw another video about 2 months or so ago (not sure who made that one now) where they mentioned one of the pins was a dummy pin.
Cheers; The ball on top of the post could be as big as it wants, because the wrench just uses a portion of the posts surface. To be more effective it would have needed to be shaped more like a dome. I have no impressioning tools, bur maybe I'll take it apart.
Nice. I lost key and went to several service point but everybody suggest for cutting. Watching this video I tried by myself and successfully done within about an hour.
I did the same to a similar kensingon lock except i used an impression tool but i cant get the lock to turn back close again. I first tried with my impression tool again but after that didnt work I did the same as you and filed the metall thing on the key away. For some reason it still doesnt works :(( any tips?

Thanks. You rescued me from a visit to IT. Filing off the knob on the key was the trick!
Nice open 😊 I don’t know much about picking tubular locks but yours was one of the clearer pickings I’ve seen in a video, so thanks for posting it!
Thanks a lot - glad you liked it.

Cheers. Haha, was quite surprised when I inspected this lock that that its not standard.
Thanks, that was instructive. I am looking about for tubular locks to try that tensioner on.

Nice pick, great camera angle. You could really see the picking clearly.

No ideas without seeing it. Sorry.
Always interesting, thank you!
Thank you.
Forgot to ask. What brand tensioner is that?
It is from Sparrows and has two sides for small and large diameter posts.
That was pretty easy to pick My Friend
Thanks for stopping by - yeah, pretty easy.
What if I don't have a lock tool like that :( ?
Buy one or make it yourself.
Very clear and concise thanks
Cheers, glad you liked it.
the laptop in the vice was odd looking
Haha, yes. You rarely see a laptop clamped in a vice ;-)
Was nicely done.
Thanks.
