On the road, we had to look on the side of the road for IEDs, on roofs of buildings for Snipers and other things that could harm us. Internet: We had Internet in our CHUs. One person in my unit got injured out there. (We got lucky and only had one person get seriously injured.) My Commander gave everyone a direct order not to use the phones or Internet for two days, but, they did not turn it off. Alcohol: It is quite easy to get alcohol out in Iraq. You can also make your own alcohol. Trust me, just go to the hadji shop, look over your shoulder and make sure nobody else is around and whisper to the cashier, "Hay, do you have any alcohol?" If they have any alcohol, they will either take you into the backroom, where they hide it or pull out a box full of: Beer, whiskey, wine, rum, etc. But, once you buy it from the Iraqis, you're on your own. My mom and dad sent me a bottle of whiskey for Christmas! So, you can, very easily get alcohol. Just pour the alcohol into a different bottle. A Listerine bottle or one that you can't see through works good. Sex: My stupid battle buddy and his wife were in my unit. They did go in my CHU and she would sometimes sleep in there with him, even though she wasn't supposed to! They had sex. They didn't even care if anyone was there! They were just Stupid! I met a girl out there. We we're at least smart about it, we went to a private area, where we knew, there was a very slim chance that anyone would find us! Then, we got laid!
Saw lots of alcohol in Baghdad, I never touched any myself. And seen lots of marijuana and opium in Afghanistan, never touched it. I remember a few E-2 soldiers tried to smuggle weed about a pound of it and got caught. A butter bar tried to smuggle a disassembled AK-47 back but was caught. This was both in Afghanistan.
Yeah the blood gun rules changed early on, a couple did get back stateside but not as many as before the 2000's, shot some crazy hybrid AK-thing that came back via a Marine in Iraq, had a non-matching norinco-style plastic/fiberglass stock/grip single piece that had been bolted and welded on to the receiver, was weird as hell.
The POG life in the green zone. Drinking, smoking up and banging the female soldiers. I heard a POG tell me that this is pay back for all the years back on base where when the infantry comes into a bar the girls leave the POG personnel.
Civvies... So I was a merchant marine officer, joining a government contract container ship in Fujairah UAE for a tour. This was April 2003 and the ship was carrying cargo that might be needed up the Gulf depending on how the fighting went. So to get to the ship we have to take a work boat out to the ship thats anchored a ways off shore. The group of us coming onboard is all there with our baggage, the stores for the ship are loaded also, but we're still not leaving. Someone asks the what we are waiting for, in bad english a dock worker says "one more group." Here pulls up a convoy of 3 UAE Army Nissa Pathfinders with gun rings cut in the roof mounting M240's protecting a mini-bus and a stake body truck. They stop in front of where we're waiting, and out of the bus comes a squad of Marine infantry in civvies. Unload their gear from the truck onto the boat and we get underway. I ask one of them during the 30 minute trip out to the ship, "whats with the civilian clothes?" His reply "They wanted us to blend in." And we look at each other and smile...
1pyroace1 if you’re on a FOB or something that’s likely being observed by OPFOR, you’re basically a sniper check. Bright white T-shirt is like saying “Here I am!” if someone feels lucky enough to take some potshots.
I think the only exception to civilian attire that I was aware of were undergarments for certain units, lots of dudes asked for skivvies or were sent some in family care packages and it usually was ok lol, but you're definitely right otherwise on that one (and of course SOF can play a slightly different ball game of sorts). Was funny in regards to the booze too, the Brits and Italians (and I believe the French Foreign Legion) got beer rations (weak liquor in the Italians' case, even came in several variants of their MRE), I'm sure you experienced some of the incidents with indigenous vendors bringing booze into the country/cities and having it all destroyed by mobs or the Iraqi Police, that happened a few times.
Every female in my unit came back pregnant and they never got in trouble. Two ncos got caught watching kiddy porn on government computers got a slap on the wrist. Some units actually enforce regulations. Mine allowed these and two 1SG's getting DUI's get swept under the rug.
Weird, 2004 in Iraq, our chaplain scheduled us a trip to Babylon from Najaf. We even went on a guided tour of the remnants, went and checked out a Saddam palace (also guided tour), even had lunch on the Tigris.....lol
Deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 and saw a lot of this happen. Sex between officers and enlisted, fraternization generally was out of control. Several females got sent home early for the results of their late night visits to the tents where the bearded ones live (SF). Also the bearded ones did have alchohol. Got it flown in on 160th chinooks.
The marines weren't too happy about my big tattoos on my arm but when I switched to army they said no problem as long as it's not on hands wrist neck or face
Jon Salinas gotta watch it. The standards keep changing. Before I got out, they started documenting all tatts on you by taking pics. If there’s another draw down, they might change the regs “again” to legally kick people out. Some “on good standing” get grandfathered so they can stay in.
@@316scout that crap lasted less than a year. A[s] long as it isn't gang/racial or anti government, and it isn't visible in full uniform, have at it. SMA Daley doesn't have time for the stupid shit his predecessors were so focused on.
This is soooo interesting. I'm getting info cuz my kid getting deployed. Thanks for the advice. Words of advice from a concerned parent here. Stay away from trouble and respect the culture of a country other than yours. It happened several times in the past in the Pacific that a service man or men in uniform was sent to jail for breaking a neck of a prosti out of base. He was lucky was forgiven and sent home. Thank you for All your service.
I was in the Army Reserves for 2 yrs 1999-2001 and active duty for 8 yrs 2001-2009. I was deployed 4 times for combat deployments, twice to Iraq and twice to Afghanistan. During my first deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan we had people ship us Grey Goose in empty mouthwash bottles dyed with food coloring. This was way before higher up got hip to it. We were responsible as possible with the booze, when we did drink ohhh man we were lit like a Christmas 🎄 I knew a lot of joes that brought a shit ton of condoms and were digging out a lot of the females. I was married sooooo, no sex for me. Lol
and don't forget if you get in good with your "terp" but I was never on a big FOB so all my trips were small out site patrol bases so that may be where my experience was much less micromanaged.
When I was deployed we had a married couple in our unit. They gave them their own private mini connex as their living quarters, so I THINK it is an Army wide thing. Granted it wasnt a huge living area, enough room for a bed, a chair, and a SMALL desk.
I could have broke rule 4, but I did break rule 5 with a female civilian contractor. When we deployed, we were allowed to buy beer at the airport in transit to Iraq (Shannon Ireland) 4th ID 2005
Hello. Thanks for the info. I have a question for you. Im chatting with this navy guy in hangout and he said, he's under on peace keeping mission,, we are chatting for almost 2months now but until now i didn't see her thru video call nor hear his voice and he wanted me to make an emergency leave request for him as his fiancée.
One things we were told for those of us that got letters in the mail was to burn them after they weren’t needed anymore. I think this was cuz we were always outside the wire and the thought of a missing letter meant a persons address could be compromised.
Several options. They could be with a family member, storage unit or if you live off base they can be at home. They can be on base if registered but not in the barracks.
...at JSS UR, I'm early 2009 (end of deployment) we got the two beers during the super bowl. we watches it on a projector on a t wall. it was a very small outpost so we couldn't really get any extras. that was the one time I though for sure we would get mortared, because they knew we would all be in one place watching the game. didn't happenfortunately. every other holiday, it seemed, we got mortars coming in, ieds set up outside the gates (thanks cooks for the great guard tower awareness), and rpgs fired at guard towers. great super bowl, super old beer from 2007, it was extra skunk, but we all enjoyed it.
Djibouti (Camp Lemonier/CJTF-HOA)….2-beer daily limit (easy to get more if you want), sightseeing tours, get to go "outside the wire" (in civilian clothing) just about every day after duty and still gets combat/hazardous duty pay. Did 4 tours there before I retired (in-between 3 Iraq tours)! Unfortionanetly too many people couldn't control themselves (Drinking, sex, general stupidity) and the command had to reduce the alcohol and outside the wire time.
One of my good friends is a combat medic with the Army. I seriously worry about him with the job he does. Hes been shot, shot at, blown back hard from IED shockwaves, blown up, and hurt badly. Hes been lucky so far where his injuries haven't been to severe. It has added trauma and some PTSD. Hes over in the middle east right now for about another year or so. We talk on down time. Of course he cant say to much due to his nature of the mission. Hes seen some really f up stuff. I have serious respect for him and try to be there for him the best I can. I see him as family. There are times I'm not sure what to say or do when hes going through tough times. I do my best. I keep my phone on just in case he needs to talk. Doesn't matter of its 2 in the morning. I'm also looking to join the military myself by 2019. Just had laser surgery done. I cant take the Asvab until next year. I do a lot of security work but theres to many shady security companies in California. Every company I work has always been sued for breaking labor laws. The good paying ones make it mandatory to have law enforcement training or military experience. I do armed security and some CCW work. Due to dumb ####s that shouldn't be allowed to carry. They have made it beyond difficult to move up career wise without military or law enforcement training. We just had a guy in February who f up badly. He was loading his firearm in the breakroom at one of the job sites. This idiot claims his finger slipped. Gun goes off. Nobody hurt but scared the crap out of the employees and customers. Contract gets terminated the same day thanks to this guy. Due to people like him. The good paying security jobs don't take anymore risks. There are still huge lawsuits going on from the past with security guards not having common sense when it comes to basic firearm safety. Looking to get into the Army as 31B military police. Or Airforce Security forces 3P0X1. My military friends have warned me they will make fun of me if I go into the Airforce. Either way I need that military experience to move up. One last thing. Huge respect to everyone that has served or getting ready to enlist. Huge respect to Chris as well. F all the people that try to tell you that you can't reach your goals. Prove those a holes wrong.
Another thing I hate about these shady security companies is they try their absolute hardest to f you in your pay. 2nd to last security job I had. I was working 70 to 90 hours a week. Company refused to help with gas, or parking fees. I was driving 100 plus miles a day. 4 hours of traffic a day. 20 plus hours a week of driving. When I told that supervisor my valid reasons of not doing that full time he got pist. Company ended up losing the contract later on. This cheap sob owes me 1200 bucks that hes refusing to pay. The last one I had is refusing to pay me on overtime I did. So much in fact I had to file a small claims report with the state. I never had to do that before. Anyone that is doing security. Stay away from GSG security and Signal 88.
yw, Use a little wisdom in your decision... remember the military is temporary.. I have an army buddy that lives in Sacramento, he makes almost 200k a year.. His job in the Army was commo, but with some comp. programming. When I deployed with 4th ID the commo guys were kind of looked down on because they weren't on patrol like the snipers/mortars/or infantry... but it is worth it to him years later..you sound like a smart person.. I only said Air Force because their standard of living is better, and better quality networking when you are out..
@@maxsun3368 It was the best decision I ever made. I got tired of wearing glasses. I would of waited to do the surgery if I knew that guy was going to screw up the contract though. My understanding is your eyes don't get as dry if you do PRK but I honestly dont know. For a couple months my eyes were very sensitive to bright lights. My eyes do get dry. In the beginning I had to use eye drops 5 plus times a day. Now I only use them 2 to 3 times a day. I see things I never noticed before. Colors are more rich. Honestly just let the military pay for it. Its expensive as hell.
When my brother was deployed to Iraq 🇮🇶 and Afghanistan 🇦🇫 none of that but his mate went sight seeing and was shot dead so his unit did not allow soldiers go sight seeing
The rules vary from unit to unit and from conventional to SOF. The only thing you’re correct on is the comms blackout. All near beer is 100% alcohol free. Certain “smaller” groups have alcohol. We’ve had our own beer fridge and I’ve drank with the Brits and a few other European Forces. The rule was you could drink as long as you remained combat effective. As for civilian clothes, we wore them in Kuwait for missions prior to the Iraq invasion, we wore civilian tops and hats in Iraq and Afghanistan. As for “site seeing” it’s called “area recon”. When around support troops, sex is game on. Have you ever noticed the mobile PX sells condoms?! Those luxuries are common highly “overlooked” bc we get the missions done without incident. It only takes one idiot to screw everyone over so the big boy rule stays in effect.
Hey Sergeant Chaos, I was wondering if you can address the topic of Liaison Officers from other branches (USMC, US Navy, and Air Force in particular) and how they interact with the Army. I’m in Air Force ROTC and one of my AFSC is Liaison Officer and I want your take on them, advice to becoming on for the Army, and Dos and Don’ts for Marine, Naval, And Air Force Officers when dealing with Soldiers (enlisted and officers) would you be interested in this video?
Hondo the Razor I remember those lonely nights in a locked security room... The night officer would come by to check if I'm awake, but I had plenty of warning as they couldn't get in without me opening the electronic lock from the inside.
@Patrick Branch That's actually not a wise idea when on a military network or even worse DL'ing to a federal/military computer, can get in some heavy trouble, goes for Contractors too, using the monitored network and a work computer is automatic termination.
Jordan is an Army combat deployment where you do get a deployment patch/HFP, etc. You can drink, go sight-seeing, and wear civis but it is a place ran by the AF. I'm sure if the Army ran the base then it would be just like the other combat zones.
I love your insight into army life. I'm curious if you know of any RUclips channels, like yours, that provides information on other forces, such as Air Force and Navy?
Simon Macomber hey i actually started off watching army youtubers before I enlisted into the navy, but before I left I found that some of the best for navy at least were JT Suits , dwk videos and Nicky mgtv , They all share very good information been in for a year and some change and i still learn things from them to this day hope this was of some help anyways good luck
Lol not sure where you got that from! But in the Teams, you get too know the pilots quick! They will bring in smokes and beer ,hard liquor too! After a 3 to 5 day patrol our old man let us unwind!!
When I was in Afghanistan they let us wear Civilain clothes as part of our uniform ex: a polo shirt and your uniform pants and boots since we all had to look the same and not stand out since we took lots of IDF and a village was literally next to our FOB. And were surrounded by mountains
The navy doesn't sail cruise ships . Go to a travel agent to book on a cruise liner . There is a class of combat vessel called a Cruiser , armed with naval guns , missile launchers , helicopters , and torpedoes . US Navy warships are military units , the rules about conduct and discipline are very strict , even in their home port . When a navy ship is underway it's considered deployed . The crew of a warship is under stricter rules than land based units . Due to restrictions of EMCON (Emissions Control) sailors arent allowed to operate any electronic or radio equipment , including cell phones . Under USN regulations it's illegal for anyone to engage in sexual activity , there is no exemption for married couples . The possession of alcoholic beverages is forbidden , except for sacimental wine administered by a Chaplain , and some spirits consumed by the officers in the Wardroom by the Captain's consent . At times a naval vessel is considered to be in a combat zone . I was in a combat zone several times . The Gulf of Sidra off Libya , The Indian Ocean , The coast of North Korea , and The Persian Gulf to name a few .
1:45 Sleeping in civilian clothes in a combat deployment. I don't think it's a good idea. I dare say so even I have no combat experience. Should anything happens, an emergency situation, are you going to leave in civilian clothes? Will you have time to change?
If something goes down on the FOB you put your vest on over whatever you're wearing. No fucks given. There is a photo floating around the web of a guy in gear and Valentine's Day boxers manning his little piece of the wall because he was sleeping when whatever alarm went off. Out on the COP's, even less fucks given. If you leave the wire, you do so in full uniform, full kit, but inside the cop, it's just your company, or maybe less, and no one cares. 100+ temp, no ac, no fans, boots cut off acus and a boonie hat was the uniform of the day.
Good video. I never went on any combat or hazardous duty type missions but I did go OCONUS about 60 % of my 4 year enlistment. I'd add that the DA & US Army frowns on; personal weapons or ammunition, porn or images-magazines some might be upset over, sex toys(yes some soldiers & officers try to sneak them in), illegal drugs, fruits or plants(this is a general customs-safety issue), pets(dogs, cats, birds, etc). Fun fact; my MP company was mandated to bring our Class A dress uniforms to Panama. We were all like what the %^&$???
#3 is mostly right my 2 times to Iraq yes they shut down comms. Now Afghanistan is different the 4 times I deployed there I had my cell phone and bought pre-paid Roshan (Afghan network) sim cards. Yes they did shut down all comms but we still had cell phones and unless they ran all the Dukes to block the signal we could call out. I was a 89D if your curious.
Only if it was a GWOT Expeditionary with hazard pay or other exigent type of deployment (like SOF/JSOC counterinsurgency operation), generally not though.
Not all of the Middle East no not technically, but again it depends on whether combat/hazard pay and the GWOT Expeditionary applies and other exigent systemics. Saudi Arabia is a base/temporary station and training hub primarily again unless SOF/JSOC has operations that hub out of it into places across the border, say against the Houthi rebels.
I thought a batallion hasnt deployed for combat since 2004 the invasion of iraq? Aren't all missions outpost holding and patrols for the most part? Besides special forces (obviously) which make up less than 1% of the entire military. Also: Former active duty enlisted.
Hola from the Caribbean Island Puerto Rico!! .. Can you be pregnant while deploy? Or if your pregnant you can't go in a deployment? I'm about to join and I already have a baby boy 2 years old so in the future I would like another baby so just wondering how it works pregnancy and deployments. Thank youuu Gracias be Bless
Does deployement work across the table like both reserves n active duty n are there other cases that excempt one not to be deployed like injury while serving or schooling activities n wat about the duration if one descides to sign up for deployement 🤔🤔
OK I have one question when I'm 19 I plan on going into the Army but I'm not sure if this'll hold me back, I have very bad vision but I have contacts and glasses. Would I still need to get lasik since my eyes are really bad
Usually if you wear glasses that can correct your vision to 20/20 then you are good. It can still limit what jobs you will get offered though. If your eyesight is really bad then they will inform you at MEPS that it’s too bad to be able to join.
When I was on deployment they wouldn't let us smoke crack.

William I always despised those butter bar officers. Most of them are just friggin awful.
The POG life in the green zone. Drinking, smoking up and banging the female soldiers. I heard a POG tell me that this is pay back for all the years back on base where when the infantry comes into a bar the girls leave the POG personnel.
In my 2nd RP-Panama tour, 1992, we had a MP/E-6 get his M9 9mm stolen. It was a deployed MP company with us. They were embarrassed by the theft.
What happened to them?

My dad was a marine in desert storm and his dad “my grandpa” would send him some jack Daniels in a coke bottle
Someone asks the what we are waiting for, in bad english a dock worker says "one more group."
Here pulls up a convoy of 3 UAE Army Nissa Pathfinders with gun rings cut in the roof mounting M240's protecting a mini-bus and a stake body truck.
Thank you for your service!!!!!!! Much love from NM
if your special operations you can wear some sort of civil clothing that’s so locals and other people don’t know what unit your in
Never wear a white t-shirt on base at night!
Tony Anderson y
1pyroace1 if you’re on a FOB or something that’s likely being observed by OPFOR, you’re basically a sniper check. Bright white T-shirt is like saying “Here I am!” if someone feels lucky enough to take some potshots.
Fucking p.t. belts. Gotta wear that "shoot me device" to keep the E-7's from running your ass over in a ta-ta after dark.
@@Trollsty what's a fob
Weed was easier to come by than alcohol in Afghanistan. If you befriended the Germans you could get beer.

I didnt even know these were rules thanks for the info Chris!
As long as I can Captain Price it and have all my cigars we'll be fine.
Hey! I was curious as to how the army treats tattoos. and figure that it might make an interesting video. Just a thought I had. Love your videos btw!
I just did a video last week about appearance standards in the Army that covers that topic.
Christopher Chaos Cool! Just recently put that in my watch later section for when I had a chance to watch. I’ll be sure to check it out.

A guy was on the phones and started talking about where we were and the phone got cut off
i need to ask what did you do in the army?
I have never ever been allowed to take a shower in the combat zone until she lets me back in the house.
Could u take a laptop and play some CS offline? Or fallout?
Sure. I knew several people that had Playstations and what not.
@@christopherchaos nice, my dad never came back to tell me. :/ Thanks tho!
@@ncrtrooper1782 he is still on deployment probably.
When I was deployed we had a married couple in our unit. They gave them their own private mini connex as their living quarters, so I THINK it is an Army wide thing. Granted it wasnt a huge living area, enough room for a bed, a chair, and a SMALL desk.

Why would any person think that by joing the army you would be able to see the "sights"... Have you never seen Band of Brothers.
Ya. They told us to run the envelopes we received our mail in through a shredder.
In less battle areas, some R-R patrols are being made that go to site seeing sites
Any tips on handling anxiety? I don't allow fear to paralyze me, but it does fuck with me, a lot.
hey good vid. I have a question, what do you do with your firearms you own if you join the ,military or get deployed?
Several options. They could be with a family member, storage unit or if you live off base they can be at home. They can be on base if registered but not in the barracks.
Thank you for your service.
I’m not sure if it’s Army wide or not, but I know that my brothers unit wasn’t allowed to smoke while on combat deployments.
Your brother lied to you.
There would be revolts
...at JSS UR, I'm early 2009 (end of deployment) we got the two beers during the super bowl. we watches it on a projector on a t wall. it was a very small outpost so we couldn't really get any extras. that was the one time I though for sure we would get mortared, because they knew we would all be in one place watching the game. didn't happenfortunately. every other holiday, it seemed, we got mortars coming in, ieds set up outside the gates (thanks cooks for the great guard tower awareness), and rpgs fired at guard towers. great super bowl, super old beer from 2007, it was extra skunk, but we all enjoyed it.
Thank you for your service. Great video. These young kids watch movies and think its a big party but its far from that.
Stay away from GSG security and Signal 88.
the air force should be your first option, take is from a prior service army combat vet, I was a medic as well.
cryptoquest Serious respect to you and thank you for your service. I'll look in to it more once I get closer to the test date.
yw, Use a little wisdom in your decision... remember the military is temporary..
What do you do if you have glasses in the military

When my brother was deployed to Iraq 🇮🇶 and Afghanistan 🇦🇫 none of that but his mate went sight seeing and was shot dead so his unit did not allow soldiers go sight seeing
Wait are enlisted not allow to do all this.? I get a feeling officers get to just do whatever cuase thier not enlisted
Hell I figured having alcohol with a loaded weapon was a commonly acknowledged bad idea
Are they allowed access to their bank account in a combat zone to transfer funds to banks stateside?
Yes but only on leap day.
You can't watch porn on the internet.
LOL yep, just get a buddy to care package some magazines and dvd's to ya basically
Damn
Derek J. I think he meant dL it on a hard drive/ thumb drive before deployment
LOL you took a picture of a Marine butt .... gotta love the silkies...
Jordan is an Army combat deployment where you do get a deployment patch/HFP, etc. You can drink, go sight-seeing, and wear civis but it is a place ran by the AF. I'm sure if the Army ran the base then it would be just like the other combat zones.
Very clear and on point
I love your insight into army life. I'm curious if you know of any RUclips channels, like yours, that provides information on other forces, such as Air Force and Navy?
Simon Macomber hey i actually started off watching army youtubers before I enlisted into the navy, but before I left I found that some of the best for navy at least were JT Suits , dwk videos and Nicky mgtv , They all share very good information been in for a year and some change and i still learn things from them to this day hope this was of some help anyways good luck
because nothing says sight seeing like a bus tour in a war zone in iraq
Lol not sure where you got that from! But in the Teams, you get too know the pilots quick! They will bring in smokes and beer ,hard liquor too! After a 3 to 5 day patrol our old man let us unwind!!
When I was in Afghanistan they let us wear Civilain clothes as part of our uniform ex: a polo shirt and your uniform pants and boots since we all had to look the same and not stand out since we took lots of IDF and a village was literally next to our FOB. And were surrounded by mountains
That must have looked retarded
In Italian armed forces you get a super alchoolic thing inside your mre
I wore civilian clothes my whole deployment! #1 is wrong! But I was a 35M.
Is a navy cruise ship considered a combat zone?
Timmy Faber not since the 40s
Lol!
Fake
Timmy Faber no its not lmaoo
Understood.
PS: what is FOB, COP?
@@farmakoxeris it's what we call our installions in the combat zones. Forward operations base, and contingency operations.

Thank you for your service Sir
#3 is mostly right my 2 times to Iraq yes they shut down comms. Now Afghanistan is different the 4 times I deployed there I had my cell phone and bought pre-paid Roshan (Afghan network) sim cards. Yes they did shut down all comms but we still had cell phones and unless they ran all the Dukes to block the signal we could call out. I was a 89D if your curious.
How can the Super Bowl possibly air in the middle of the night? It's not even a wise time to have even just 1 beer.
Couldn’t drink so we used hand sanitizer and filtered it over a period of time and drank that...taste like shit but gets you buzzed af lol
Hi..How about in Syria, are they allowed to communicate through text messages,or what..?
If you’re in Saudi Arabia isn’t that considered a combat zone?
Only if it was a GWOT Expeditionary with hazard pay or other exigent type of deployment (like SOF/JSOC counterinsurgency operation), generally not though.
Derek J. Oh I thought the entire Middle East was considered a “combat “ zone
Derek J. Thanks for the info
No problem, there's a lot to digest with the intricacies of various current operations and whatnot.
