blimey gets you everytime - such happy memories. when i worked in a shop , i used to answer the extension like John ``menswear`` in that deep masculine voice
One of the things I loved about Mr. Humphries's character, it's clear that he's gay or at least not completely straight. And yet everyone else at the workplace loves him and enjoy spending time with him. None of them are nasty to him, you can tell that Mr. Lucas (whose very straight) considers Mr. Humphries his best friend at work and the way they talk, they probably hang out outside of work too. Mr. Humphries is also shown in a happy light, he's smart, witty, friendly, kind, and fun. No tragic shunning or unhappy life for Mr. Humphries. Considering the time period this show is set in, that was impressive to see for a queer character.
We all miss you, Mr. Humphries. I remember when he came to WGBH Channel 2 Boston, maybe 1993, 1994, 1995 or 1996. What a great guy. Mr. Humphries: "Ahem...MENSWEAR?" Lmao
If I had a coworker like Wilberforce Clayborne Humphries at the liquor store where I work, I'd never be depressed.
same i work in retail and i would love to have a coworker like him
The host was the star of Chef. He’s fabulous.
That was a hysterical scene with the Kung Foo robe.. hysterical episode.
It is so sad, but there has been no one else like John Inman. I have seen a few actors try to "be Mr. Humphries" and no one has succeeded.
a great man. very much missed😊
He ain't Dead ! He's busy meddling into the running of the BBC !!
Darkmotive I didn’t mean Lenny Henry, I meant John Inman

People wouldn't be exactly nasty, but Peacock and Grainger would make snide little remarks now and then.
@@DoktorRotwang And Humphries would make them right back. He could defend himself and didn't need anyone protecting him.
@@banannakis6723 Not always. Most of the time he sat there and looked shocked like he didn't know what they meant. :D
Jog on Lenney Henry with your BBC Charter !
Lenny Henry.... Chef one of favs.
Lenny Henry is of course by far the funniest person who ever lived in the history of the universe.
Sorry not in this universe but a different universe.
