Im a spanish guy who really appreciates this kind of dnb, by far the most intelligent music I've ever head. I have seen you in many other vids of intelligent/jungle/atmospherical dnb, and I'm sure you know what u talk about in general. For that reason I'm interested in your answer for this question... why 720 is your favourite label if talking about this kind of dnb, above Good Looking Records? I ask you this because I'm spanish, and young, and because of that I don't know the real history behind these 2 great labels back in the days. I've been just interested in good music and that led me to know that 720 Records and GLR were the main labels, where the best tracks were released, but nothing more.
Spalgame ... hola amigo. Como van las cosas? Bueno, para mi: Good looking or (GLR / LGR) is a truly great label. Many of their tunes are pieces of art. It is just a personal preference, but 720 leans towards a slightly more 'technological' / 'science / techno' flavour. Okay, I will admit that it is tricky to say "I prefer this / or that" as we all have different moods. Maybe I said I prefer 720 because I was lucky enough (or old enough) to go out and listen to Blame, Bukem, PHD and the Logical Progression crew in the mid to late 90s (after going to raves in the early 90s). Many many incredible nights...some of which are here on RUclips thanks to videos of the events! I'll send you a link or two...give me a moment.
... but to answer your question I prefer 720 because it's the feeling of intensity. When the lights are low When it's 5am When the spaces appear on the dance floor as people run out of steam THAT is when it's time to get down to business and break out the night manouvers. Feel the bass line in your gut...the 720 dancehall stylee London City 1998
YES! It's true that 720 tunes has more of a technological/science sound. Didn't think about that difference between 720 and GLR, but it's completely true. I know its tricky to say what someone prefers, it's all subjective, and I understand your preference. It's hard for me to choose between 720 and GLR as I didn´t live that era and I haven't done great researchs about the labels (as I'm spanish is hard to me to understand all these interviews on youtube)... but the discovereis I've made for the last 2 years (these atmospherical/ambient/intelligent) makes me think, for myself, that I prefer GLR. But to be honest I never thought of comparisons but enjoy this music, as I have been discovering this music as an outsider (a foreign person, just looking for music but doesn't know a shit about the artists and their history with the labels, etc but at least I could recognise artists' styles). What makes me love more this music is that I love the retro era, I love the ambient that there should have been in that times, also when producing music, fat PCs, cables, radios, raves, music on the cars...oh god, although I didn't live that era, I "catch" the magic. What was the Logical Progression crew? I thought it was only the name of GLR's compilations, I have discovered many tracks in these compilations. Also, Blame and Pukem are the bases of GLR, aren't they? So that I don't understand when u said "Maybe I said I prefer 720 because I was lucky enough (or old enough) to go out and listen to Blame, Bukem, PHD and the Logical Progression crew in the mid to late 90s". Just asking mate, I'm not the master, I just want to learn! I think your links don't work, I don't see any of them!
From Temple records Good Looking - neither labels could do this track justice. Cheers for the tune fellas.
