I still have a handwritten letter from him that I got from him when I wrote to him as a kid asking him if he trained anyone in ninjutsu. Very generous person.
Sho Kosugi is one the last few TRUE remaining Ninja Masters!! I still have a letter that he wrote me that said he grew up studying Iga-Ryu Ninjutsu and also he gave me an autographed picture as well!! As a Ninjutsu practitioner myself for many years, I can see that his skills in his movies and demonstrations are very authentic Ninjutsu skills!! Way to go Sho!!
I'm impressed with how laidback & soft spoken Sho is. With how he is in the interviews, you wouldn't expect it to be the same guy that has played cold-blooded & emotionless ninja in some of his films. All around great guy & the best ninja of the 80s. :)
I was a kid when 'The Master' aired on tv, I remember I -really- wanted to own a real shuriken (ninja throwing star) but never got one... Damn, I'd still like to have it :)
he has extensive training in shindō jinen-ryū karate, kendo, judo, iaido, kobudo, aikido, and ninjutsu. He also runs an internationally oriented group of martial arts acting schools known as the Sho Kosugi Institute.
Correct Strangerdanger1977. He is the last of the traditionally trained Master Ninja. I think he was seriously underrated in the 80's due to Bruce Lee and those other guys. Koga and Iga fought but nowadays it is more of a family priide/competition that still exists.
Happy Birthday to the Agent of Missionary Shogun. Represent from [Nippon] Tokyo, Empire of Japan. Sho Kosugi. A man who has the Art of Invisibility and the atomizing strength of the warrior is here to prove himself to be the outstanding event that no one shall have what ti takes to outsmart him and his ninja skill in the adventure of Assassins Master Quest. Sho Kosugi make incredible impact to be amazing in many events that makes him 100% famous for the Emperor Shogun which admire his judgment to be a Martial Arts Hero.
but so much for passing on the ninja awesomeness to Kane the superior of the 2....Sho and Kane don't talk to each other and have went different ways for 5-6 years now.....saw a japanese interview recently with sho and he called his son a coward......ouch
Hah, I always assumed he was a dumbass actor who did karate moves and gymnastics as instructed by a fight/stunt coordinator. Wrong. This dude was THE movie ninja of the 1980's. Inspired a lot of people to seriously look into actual historical ninjutsu. Sometimes it takes fiction to motivate one to arrive at fact.

I would love to see this letter & his response.
