- In honor of the finale of Rupaul's Drag Race Season 10 yesterday and the end of pride month this week, here's the femme-est number yet! Haha. Beyond it's controversial copyrights, this song speaks to me in the simple sense that I love deep and meaningful music and also live for a song with a bunch of noises and nonsense that makes me embrace every femme blood cell in my veins (which is basically all of them).
This number is significantly more stationary than my others to showcase more of a vogue style movement melded with skating, something that we're finally starting to see representation of in figure skating thanks to the athletes that are at last beginning to be vocally proud of their sexualities. Gays in figure skating?! NEVER! Growing up as a male figure skater, queer people made up the majority of the male athletes in my workplaces, competitions and honestly closest friend circles. Growing up Christian, being proudly queer was a complete contradiction and ended up creating a lot of fear, judgement and self-hatred through my early teen years. To have those examples set before me back then the way they are so well represented in this day would have immensely eased the process of coming out for me personally.
So, here's more representation! Me being my authentically queen-y self doing what I love the most! Enjoy!
