Fun fact: The Demetae we’re the only post Roman tribe to keep they’re name, they are also very excluded in Roman history and what we’re of Roman construction in the area was abandoned very early, theories to why range from the Dematae people (with maybe support from the Irish) kicked the Romans out and was never mentioned or got lost in writing, to the Romans just finding the place worthless and just focused on the rest of Britannia.

Yep, loved this video. I agree entirely regarding the concept of 'cities'. If a pre Roman British settlement had 5,000 people living in it.....even if it was built of wood and earth rather than brick or stone.....it was surely still a city.
The other point I would like to raise is that I had always assumed that the land of the Demetae had been over-run and heavily settled by Irish people. Is there anything that would now support this theory?
    Fascinating information about Carmarthen.
Get well and stay well. 🤗

Makes sense that the Demetae had close Cornish connections, Lots of Copper in their Lands that the Cornish Tin Miners needed. Interesting that the Brigantes had a Colony in Ireland, Wonder if the Beaches at Blackpool were the Brigantes Trade Port for Dublin, Waterford & Wexford??

Probably not as there are no Ogham stones in that area. Brigantes in Ireland and Brigantes in England seems to be like 2 Belgae tribes in Gaul and one in England. Romans may have been just too lazy to think of other tribe names 😂

Oye, from Mid Coast of Maine. Tis Lobster wedding season once again!) Had a vision of unique skull shaped, not as much, but alike the Atens of Egypt. With almost white blond hair n blue eyes. They left storm n sudden ice storm west Denmark n found a Banana belt of good weather in Britain by a river headland. This is like 9,000 BCE...think descendants form " Kingdom of Lindsey "? That in time gets pushed into, absorbed by Mercia...but may be longest continuously occupied place in Britain!) Top o Morn!+1 How many other lil Bubba Kingdoms came n went into pages of Our-$tory?
