It may be weakly excused by pointing to his incredible laziness and pointing out what he said about just supporting Hamas without the IDF comparison, but it's a real bad one.
Yeah, as someone in the same position as you, that was an indefensibly bad take. It may be borne from laziness and doomering but still a bad take from Vaush.
The problem is that he knows nothing about other countries, like all Americans, but that doesn't stop him from talking out of his ass. I especially notice that when he talks about Germany, because I know quite a bit about it. He should focus on American politics and turn to foreign creators when talking about foreign politics.
I think I agree with Vaush though. To clarify, I don't think Vaush means with "numbers game" an actual game with DPS (damage per second) calculations or peak deaths per minute. I think it's either sloppy or dishonest of LonerBox to interpret it the way he did. Anyway, my point is that most people looked in horror when Hamas killed more than a thousand people, most of which were civilians causalities. But when Israel started its counterattack with the civilian deaths increasing, then people thought Israel wasn't bombing in a sane fashion. If Israel would have done something more precise and effective, rather than blind revenge, then a lot of people would have just criticized Israel for their open-air prison and the conditions that led to Hamas feeling justified to attack Israeli civilians. The sociological lens. If I recall correctly, because I did see the live stream, that Vaush's conclusion was that both are bad, Hamas and IDF, but since IDF took it too far, they carry more of the blame. And after all Israel is in power, you could also call it a numbers game. They have the food, water, guns and soldiers, they control the fate of Gaza.
You'd think in a two hour video about "leftist antisemitism" there'd be at least one example of a leftist being antisemitic. I'm curious, when you say "antisemitic" do you just mean "people who don't like Israel"? It betrays an insane level of arrogance to think that just because someone doesn't agree with your view on a given conflict, they must be motivated by racism/bigotry. If we want to be bad faith, we can, but I don't think it works in your favour. There are waaaaaay more off handed comments, jokes, and implied opinions to support the idea that you and Destiny hate Arabs than there are for leftists hating Jews
26:54 He literally explained how a game of media telephone made a horrible mistake and moment of miscommunication on the part of Israeli doctors that led to the temporary sterilization without consent of Ethiopian Jewish refugees in transit systems (that eventually got corrected, mind you) morph into a conspiracy where a white supremacist-driven Israel deliberately and permanently sterilized said Ethiopian Jews to keep the country "pure". Stories like those end up spreading a lot of unnecessary misinformation about Israel that paints them as the Fourth Reich. Lonerbox continuously reiterates that Israel still commits war crimes and horrible actions, but they are not on the same level as Nazi Germany and yet, because of pushed narratives like the mass Ethiopian sterilization conspiracy, people assume that they are. These kinds of narratives cause chain reactions where it becomes easier and easier for anti-westerner leftists to buy into other forms of propaganda and conspiracies that get pushed by organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah and, slowly, anti-Zionist rhetoric starts to turn into anti-Jewish rhetoric. Suddenly the Houthis are not just an antisemitic gang of pirate terrorists that explicitly say, "Curse Upon All Jews" on their flag and attack freight ships that aren't even associated with Israel (or have the loosest connections to Israel at best); they're just a legitimate government body fighting against the oppression of White Supremacist Israel in the name of Palestine by forming a legitimate blockade against Zionist-controlled ships. And the anti-West leftists and tankies eat that shit up uncritically.
Unfortunately this very well put together rational logical and coherent response will just be brushed off and ignored by Lonerbox and his fanbase as he is incapable of actually listening to arguments and not just using buzzwords and allegations of racism or antisemitism.
There's tons of videos of leftist perpetuating anti semitic conspiracy theories, like the khazar myth, as well as openly calling for jews to be ethnically cleansed from their homeland

Also, the number is hardly "countless". On average, prior to 2023, the average number of foreign participants on the IDF was about 2-4000 total foreign nationals of which about a third are from the US. Even if that number has increased by threefold that number is hardly countless, especially considering that the IDF maintains a combined professional and reserve force of over 600000. Besides, this conversation in entirely pointless in the first place. Is saying "American IDF personnel, go back to the US" going to have any beneficial result? Is it going to result in peace in the Middle East if Hamas or Hezbollah's ideology are just as, if not more intolerant than the Zionists settlers in the region? The uptick of foreign fighters moving to Israel is a direct result of the attack in October 2023 by Hamas. 19:00 I think you're misunderstanding the leftist position on antisemitism. They're not opposed to antisemitism. They're opposed to generalized bigotry, in an abstract way. But since American leftists are incapable of seeing any conflict through a lens other than American racial history, they're applying the "brown victim vs. white oppressor" framework to a conflict where it is wildly inapplicable. Antisemitism isn't a problem on the left because they've decided that Jews are white Europeans, and can therefore be blamed for the last 500 years of European Imperialism. Mizrahim don't exist, because the idea of Jews actually being native to the Middle East would undermine the narrative.
considering that no on in europe will ever consider jewish people their own yeah it’s pretty much antisemitic and also this is besides the point but everytime someone situates israel with european imperialism i simply lose it,like not only that they don’t have anything to do with it but even more neither white americans(european americans)nor europeans should speak about arab colonialism🤷♀️ that’s simply none of their problem, what is going on in the middle east between arabs and jewish people was created by the brits, which is another reason why europe should stay out of the middle east

Same here. I watch Vaush and LonerBox (and Beau of the Fifth Column) and they sort of balance each other out in helping me understand the facts and feelings surrounding the Israel-Gaza-Lebanon War. But still, while I intellectually agree with the points that LonerBox makes about Israel and Gaza, I still can't help but feel frustrated that the only solution that presents itself from his coverage is that the people of Gaza basically have to tank Israel slaughtering them for the next several months until Israel gets bored or it becomes untenable. I just feel so black pilled and doomer about it. The only thing I can really do is possibly just share and spread the images of Israeli savagery against the Gazan and Palestinian people around college campuses for the next few years in order to at least create some change, some shifting of thought in regards to the US supporting Israel. Do you get what I mean?
"i don't believe ANY state has a "right" to exist" The issue I have with most leftists on this position is that they still think we should "start" with Israel, and that it's ok to kill random Israelis while they sit comfortable and safe on their Native American graveyard land. And that it's all ok because they advocate for land back in the US too, they just know they can virtue signal with land acknowledgements without paying for any of it with their safety or property.
Why not? Do you believe Europeans and Muslims have a right to genocide jews? Should blacks be enslaved? Humanity literally kills jews for 3000 years without consequence.
Yeah same. I think his analysis on the difference between right wing and left wing antisemitism is spot on. I’m farther left than Loner, but I’m pretty appalled at how most creators in this space will just unthinkingly align themselves with any violent group that so happens to be against America, even if that group is extremely antisemitic and queerphobic. It builds up a certain callousness to antisemitic rhetoric or the perspective of Jewish people in general.
What happened to you? Is it just another Vaush thing where you were always like this, or did you just so slowly get audience captured that you didn't even notice?
The standard is if you wouldn't hold another country accountable for x but you would Israel, then it might be antisemitism. Like they can't be a Jewish state/country but wouldn't criticize other countries for calling themselves Christians country or Islamic country. If whatever you are criticizing Israel as a country for you should hold the same standards to any other nation. I don't think it's a big request. I just think people are going to we can't criticize Israel but it's got a limit. The issue is many people are really just anti-war, so their war standards are unrealistic but if they hold those standards for every country, it's not antisemitism. It's still unrealistic but...
The accusation of antisemitism is used to silence critics of Israel. Meanwhile Netanyahu is pals with all the worst antisemites, from Orban to Le Pen to Steve Bannon.
Frogan is most likely saying to go back to Brooklyn because of that one story with the Jew from Brooklyn taking that Palestinian women's property. Easy-brain shortcut I think. Not the correct take however.
He didn't "take" any "palestinian women's property". That was property that had been owned by Jews for over a century which these Arabs were squatting on after the Arab Legion ethnically cleansed the Jews from East Jerusalem in 1949. The owners even allowed for the Arabs to stay if they pay rent and they refused, so they were rightfully removed. The entire Shimon Hatsadik neighbourhood was Jewish before the Arabs invaded it.
@@DeadEnd-b4b So true, it's only justice that people can reclaim the homes they had to abandon. So what about all the Palestinian who had to flee, when is Israel giving them their homes back?
@@DeadEnd-b4b But isn't that sort of analysis very shallow? With that reasoning any Native population conquered by any imperialistic power has the right to forcefully remove people from homes the people from the conquering group have lived in for decades. According to your logic, if Native Americans had enough arms and military might, they'd be morally justified in forcing Americans out of states like Mississippi and Georgia for what happened to them ~200 years ago. Not an unrealistic comparison considering the Israeli-Palestine conflict is nearing 100 years. I think most people would agree that there is a sort of statute of limitations on forcefully removing people from homes once they have settled in after the militaristic campaign has ceased and the original population has moved on. Another issue is that we would have to decide how far back we want to go in terms of which "ethnic group" gets the the land that was originally theirs. We would essentially be picking our preferred winners and losers. Not to mention, ownership rights should only transfer to the individual who lost the property, not a socially-defined ethnic group. There is way too much to contend with in that sort of thinking for me to agree with it.
Lonerbox, whenever people say ‘lol there were no orders to rape’ please bring up the mass rapes done by the Red Army during the end of WW2 because those soldiers were never given orders to rape but they still did and it was on such a scale that high command had to interfere. Why did they do it? Because of the rhetoric towards their enemies, the Germans, pushing the idea of equal punishment or payback for their invasion of the USSR. I wonder what Hamas teaches its militants about the IDF and Israelis in general…
how many of these things have we seen now? if it happened once, I could buy it being a mistake. twice, a coincidence. thrice, is a cause for concern. but four, five, six? at some point it has to be deliberate. and ironically this is the defense trump-voters have for trump. What is the effective counterargument for the idea that Israel ingenders antisemitism in the region due to Israel overtly tying its colonial project to the ethno-religious identity of jews? He highlights this as a possible leftist argument but doesn't suply a rebuttal to it.
To a certain extent, I imagine that’s inevitable. Regardless of where the Jewish state went, it would engender some anti-semitism. From what I’ve heard, a large part of the issue isn’t necessarily that Israel is an ethnostate, but that it is a Western, settler colonial state. I think this is truly what engenders hatred of Israel. If Israel were somewhere in the West, I doubt we’d have this problem. The issue is that the whole point of the Zionist project is to have a place where Jews aren’t the minority. Being the minority everywhere they go has not worked out well for them. Many would argue that abolishing the ethnostate (or Israel itself) for the sake of a multi-ethnic society puts Jews at risk of suffering another holocaust, especially given the groups they’re fighting against. Some might argue for a gradualist approach to this multi-ethnic society, but I think the notion that Jews (even across the globe) will be safe without their own state to be naive.

But over the past 10 years it's really been revealed to me that in a lot of ways, it's accurate because the means both sides take to get to the ends are often the same authoritarianism, with othering of "bad" groups in a very tribalistic way. The type of black and white good vs bad thinking lacking any real nuance is what makes extremists turn to the same types of though patterns and behaviors
Honestly at this point we need to abandon the whole "Left wing and Right wing" concept because it just seems like an arbitrary relic of the 1800s, the real scale should be people and decentralized government power vs centralized and organized governmental power.
@@austinchasteenyideologically, it is a gimmick. Anarchism and communism (extreme left) and fascism (extreme right) for instance have very little to do with each other ideologically. Sadly, some of the proponents of communism in particular are only in it for themselves, their power and their glory and of course that can be found just as easily in fascist ideology. So on a human level, I think there is a point to horsehsoe theory, as much as it pains me to say so.
@lisaw150 i think to me the idea is less so they share the same ideas, but rather they lead to similar outcomes or similar methods with which to attain their goals. And they do so to the degree that, while they never "touch" the outsides of the horseshoe do end up closer to the other extreme than they do to the middle. It's especially evident with the antisemitism here as a stark example of actually sharing similar ideas, but I'd say more so the authoritarianism on both sides as well as unjust cadre hierarchies that form really show how similar exteme left can be to extreme right. Of course, there are exceptions, but this does paint a clearer picture I think
Not really. White people, due to their privileged position in Western society, are often susceptible to having their positions influenced by this privilege that blinds them from some of the injustice in the world. “Privileged take” would probably be a more accurate term, but that privilege comes about from being white, much of the time.
BadEmpenada is TOO critical and cavalier, and LonerBox sometimes is TOO lenient and borderline an apologizer. But both fail to see that about themselves and about each other, and they attack each other with ad-hominem. Also LonerBox addressing others undermining their arguments with reasoning like "thats such a white take" in the same breath and calling others out for prejudiced opinions about anti-semitism is hypocritical and backwards and racist.
Good points. Both are more invested in rhetorical debate than dialectics. BE is actually a tad better with using factual information to create a justifiable narrative. Lonerbox is so fixated on appearing “unbiased” that he will, consciously or not, omit information, which is egregious and dangerous. However, BE is clearly so reliant on RUclips income that he engages in some pretty nasty rhetoric about other people, which he might think is a bourgeois concern but he couldn’t be more wrong. Empathy and compassion on an individual and societal level is critical when one’s who worldview relies on people feeling a sense of right and wrong morally. I think he demonstrates why leftist thought can become so crippled under a populist style rhetoric which requires human scapegoats and an enemy class for systemic and societal issues. It’s not so much absolving blame as realizing that justice is a tool and how you use it to crave out injustice is how you shape what remains.
I've understood that the terrorist organisations like claiming anyone a bit loosely related to them as theirs, which if true, would push the numbers towards the terrorist/civilian casualty rate towards the "good" direction. Is this true and if so, how much would it affect the numbers that are talked so much about? I'm mostly just neutral on this situation, and mostly think its a distraction from the more important war in Ukraine. Just a neverending cycle of revenge. I do think that Israel has more control of when and how to end the confilct, and that Netanyahu isn't really productive in bringing that, but we'll be lucky if it gets properly resolved during our lifetimes.
i wonder how many of the deaths in the currect Israel-Gaza war can be directly attributed to Hamas using civilian facilities for military purposes and lack of air raid shelters. cause Hamas could be considered to be at fault for those deaths, and not israel
Very few could be attributed judging by previous operations and regardless of this Israel still is under obligation to abide by the principles of distinction discrimination and proportionality as well as using weaponry fit for this purpose.
Few, because even if it is true that Hamas uses civilian facilities for their militaristic goals, Israel has no right to not be cautious while dealing with those military operations. All states have a duty to be as careful as possible to not hurt civilians and Israel is simply not respecting the sanctity of human life. Not only by the amount of Palestinian deaths, but how they have handled starvations, dehydration, disease, "safe"-zones, and the like, in the Gaza Strip. Sorry not sorry.
Very interesting video, but i found tge comment about the CCP being capitalistic pretty misleading... In my opinion Xi's government is evermore centralized and motivated by personal political interests instead of financial growth, as seen in policies that obligate private companies to share their data with the government, or polices that maintain failing SOEs. In what way do you find the current ccp capitalistic?
Right wing antisemitism: deliberately using dog whistles to spread hateful and racist remarks about Jews and Israelis, not hiding it when questioned Left wing antisemitism: Deliberately using dog whistles to spread hateful and racist remarks about Jews or Israelis, and when questioned, deny any evidence no matter how on the nose obvious it is, hide behind a fake moral high ground whilst straight up justify being racist towards Israelis or Jews while your left wing peers repeatedly deny that you’re spreading hate to not hurt their own moral integrity, inherently becoming even worse than right wingers who at least don’t pretend to be morally virtuous
You're completely misrepresenting the issue that people have with the Israeli lobbying. Its our elected officials willingly taking money from a country that is unleashing unspeakable cruelty to a civilian population. The response would be almost identical if they were taking money from other nations carrying out such attrocities. We expect our representatives to do the right thing, but when they are being bankrolled in part by those they are supposed to sanction, they will never do the right thing. What would you think if the british government, for instance, was taking money from the nazis? How would you say that would've inpacted the response from the uk to the invasions and the holocaust?

I disagree with the characterization of the 40K killed in Gaza. Even if I grant that they did cost analysis on all the strikes and decided it was worth it, I think the IDF's math is barbaric if they think killing that many wounded people and kids is acceptable.

It's a war started by the side that chants slogans like "na7nu qawm yo7ibb el mawt kama to7ibbouna al 7ayat" (yet they whine when they receive their "martyrdom").

He literally explained how a game of media telephone made a horrible mistake and moment of miscommunication on the part of Israeli doctors that led to the temporary sterilization without consent of Ethiopian Jewish refugees in transit systems (that eventually got corrected, mind you) morph into a conspiracy where a white supremacist-driven Israel deliberately and permanently sterilized said Ethiopian Jews to keep the country "pure".
Suddenly the Houthis are not just an antisemitic gang of pirate terrorists that explicitly say, "Curse Upon All Jews" on their flag and attack freight ships that aren't even associated with Israel (or have the loosest connections to Israel at best); they're just a legitimate government body fighting against the oppression of White Supremacist Israel in the name of Palestine by forming a legitimate blockade against Zionist-controlled ships.

it wouldn't make sense to say a Palestinian born in Palestine should go back to Dearborn, but it does make sense to tell the countless American Jews who have joined the IDF to go back to America
@@wachowski9525 This is a weird double standard to draw. You're effectively claiming that people's nationality or homeland can only be defined by their birthplace.
If pro-Palestinian activists want discourage foreigners from joining the IDF then they should be chastising the terrorist groups and their Iranian handlers instead of lauding them or pretending they aren't inherently part of the problem.

They really aren’t the problem though, this has been an ongoing issue even well before the attacks. The issue isn’t that they were born in one place and moved to another, the issue is that they are participating in a colonial project, which they objectively are. Pointing out their foreign origins is a useful tactic for highlighting the conflict for what it is, a struggle between an invading and native population.
@@TonyGModesto The irony of your comment is that because of your excessive use of pronouns instead of nouns your statement could equally be applying to either the IDF or their Iranian backed adversaries.
Mizrahim don't exist, because the idea of Jews actually being native to the Middle East would undermine the narrative.
considering that no on in europe will ever consider jewish people their own yeah it’s pretty much antisemitic

"i don't believe ANY state has a "right" to exist"
The issue I have with most leftists on this position is that they still think we should "start" with Israel, and that it's ok to kill random Israelis while they sit comfortable and safe on their Native American graveyard land. And that it's all ok because they advocate for land back in the US too, they just know they can virtue signal with land acknowledgements without paying for any of it with their safety or property.

Frogan is most likely saying to go back to Brooklyn because of that one story with the Jew from Brooklyn taking that Palestinian women's property. Easy-brain shortcut I think. Not the correct take however.
Funny how Muslims dont have to go back to Muslim countries.
@@John-bravoooi wouldn’t stop them
@@DeadEnd-b4b So true, it's only justice that people can reclaim the homes they had to abandon.

@@saitharys655 In "On the Jewish Question" Marx had stated that he believed if Jewish people were to abandontheir religion they'd be fully accepted, what people don't grasp about Marx in left wing circles is he and Hitler were both antisemites but they were different types of antisemitic, Marx was a religious anti semite where as Hitler was a racial anti semite. Being as how Marx's family was Jewish up until his father converted to seek a more lucrative job and antisemitism was very common in that place and time Marx likely went further then most because he felt embarrassed or ashamed of his own family history, this is very common with groups of persecuted people throughout history to side with people who are persecuting them to try to differentiate themselves from the rest, Leon Trotsky, Genrich Yagoda, Sergey Taboritsky being similar examples to Marx in that they sided with regimes that would've subjugated or worse to them out of a sense of guilt or shame at their own heritage fostered by their surroundings and cultural stigma of the period.

Yet another win for horseshoe theory.
It really sucks being constantly correct
At first, I always thought horseshoe theory was a gimmick.

Remember, the Soviets were fascistic MLs, aka Tankies. Marxism-Leninism can be done in a non-insane way. Just the most well (edit: known) variation of the theory is the one that the fascists implemented.
It is a real shame because Marxism-Leninism isn’t a horrible theory. There are better ones but its co-opting by fascists gives it a much worse rep than it deserves
Nah the ideology is horrible and it deserves to belong to the trash like Fascism
It’s literally authoritarian in nature, what are you talking about
They aren't Marxists. They are Stalinists. Completely different breed.
I hope you realize that the Leninism in Marxism-Leninism was added after Lenin showed his true colors when he was in power and it forever shaped people's view of Communism
