When it comes to upgrading or replacing your old hard drive or SDD, people want to keep all their data and programs without losing them, so you would need to clone the drive to your new drive. So whether you are trying to do one of these options, this method I show you will work.

I have used Samsung Data Migration, Macrium Reflect (free version) and also AOMEI Backupper. However, i found Samsung Data Migration to be very easy and very much Effective.
@@ARUNBALAJIJ does the Samsung cloner also work on drives of other brands Western Digital for example ??
Thanks so much for this video,I was able by using O&O trial version, clone an old gateway laptop drive that had on an old software i cannot find anymore and i still use.
I use Acronis, it adds any extra, free disk space to the main boot drive automatically which makes sense as most people clone to add speed and space.
Just downloaded the program, can't even boot into their software atm. Says failed to connect despite of having wifi connection 😭

The last one I used was Samsung magician on a Samsung SSD, worked great first time 👍
Some of those Samsung, Seagate and similar proprietary software only clone disk of their own brand, so they are useless if none of your disk are.

Based on your previous video, I been using aomei backupper ever since.
Aomei backupper deals with cloning different sizes, the O&O wouldnt work. I am using a Fideco dual bay HDD dock station Y842H. Has anyone had luck with these in standalone or another brands?

How does this software deal with Secure Boot? whenever I clone I can't boot off the cloned disk, even thought the process completes.
Would there be the Windows Licensing problems if you used the newly cloned drive in a separate computer?

Great video as always. I'm still looking for an app that backs up all your documents/apps/settings and transfer them back after a fresh install of Windows. So I can finally have a clean OS, without needing to reinstall everything and reset all my settings. It's gone through many OS upgrades over the years. lol

I suggest MiniTool ShadowMaker Free 3.6 & if you get the Ultimate it's a life time licence, with some very handy options, just like what your looking for.
@@Ratchet_effect That does the entire system. I just want to backup all the documents, applications and settings. That way I can do a fresh install of Windows and transfer everything back. My current install of Windows was upgraded from Win7 to Win8 to Win8.1 and then Windows 10. It's old af and now has a ton of issues.
@@BadWolfPlays66 I don't do the whole system I choose what I want backed up, you don't have to do the complete system. Wow! you never formatted the OS Hard drive at all? all my days that dive must be heavily fragmented as hell right now. I'd get off what you want to save A.S.A.P more so sooner than later if your having issues I wouldn't hang around saving precious files. I send my files over a network and for extra saves to external hard rives too!

Unfortunately this software, on which I have relied on for years for full system backups, is bugged when handling cloning or restoring to the now universal UEFI boot method. I had the need to clone a failing C drive SSD running Windows 10 today. Both cloning, and restoring from a backup image file made before starting, produced an unbootable copy that wouldn't even repair with a system recovery disk. Solution was to do a clean install of windows 10 to the new disk and then just restore the C drive partition only and not the other 3! Horrible bug, but at least I found a way around it. Make sure you have your windows install USB drive to hand!
2:10 What does it mean, "after 30 days you will have to purchase the software?" Is it going to let me clone my drive and then after 30 days disable my cloned drive unless I pay?

Great video. Had a problem with process. Cloned as per video using O&O Diskimage 18, but the pop up for making target bootable never came up and the new SSD won't boot. Software or process problem? Ideas.

I used to use Acronis, but they have gone way off topic with security software, which took me almost 3 days to completely uninstall. Acronis beware folks!
They changed Acronis True Image to Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office. I use the last known version of True Image ISO. Don't need to install it.
I agree, Acronis have gone down the security root a fair bit. Bloated for backup only now

(I use Acronis TI, AOMEI Backupper, Ashampoo Backup Pro 16, and not used any of these for a while now)
But might give this a go tomorrow because Ii have used 'O&O software before....:)

Thanks, and I think I have the 'free' versions, although I may have bought the Acronis software, and it's been a while since using any of them.
Why didn't it have the option to auto use all of the capacity on the destination drive? That should be a basic option.

i got a few popups saying 'drive d must be formatted' and when i clicked the format button it said i couldnt format. it seems to be working fine but i just wanna make sure
lets say you got a hard drive you want to copy or duplicate it. Lets say you got a hard drive that windows can not read it prompts you to do a format of the drive, but you know the drive is fine for another operating system. You just want to make a exact copy of it. Would this software do it? or some other type of software for windows to do it?

Now Rian I have used Macrium Reflect in the past but have not had much luck as it often used to stop the clone halfway through the process and I don't know why. Do you think it was that I was trying to clone from a 500GB drive to a 500GB drive? I don't have to do this right now but this software does look good and is not so complicated as the Macrium set-up. I have looked at the AOMEI software for this but never have tried it.
According to the website, one direction says that O&O Disk image 17 will "only" create on a 2T (min) drive, due to certain restrictions. Also, that any unallocated space will be unusable after that. So, if I use a 2T SSD, and only write for ex. 512 GB, the other 1.5GB will be useless. Isn't that a huge waste of storage? It would be nice to know if the software tells you how much space you require for your info.

Brian - I have a game, Silent Hills PT on an old PS4 that I bought some time ago, PlayStation gave away the game (it's actually a demo) as a free download years ago and have long since withdrawn it (some dispute with the game publisher Konami).
I'd like to transfer the game to my PS4 Pro, but it seems that when I clone the PS4 hard drive the cloned PS4 Pro hard drive works fine, but the game icon shows a lock and is unplayable unless I sign in with the original downloader's account (it's not me as I bought the console 2nd hand).
The game plays fine on the original PS4, but how can I unlock it for the PS4 Pro without that original account ?

MOST common use of this is to CLONE the BOOT Drive . Ok . Most common use of THAT process is to UPGRADE , ARCHIVE or REPLACE the Boot drive . WHY do the folks making these vids NOT show the most LIKELY scenario - making ONE larger volume on the target drive from a smaller SOURCE drive ? Its always "you can do that later" or we'll do something SIMPLER here today _instead_ ?
