When I'm discovering new people on RUclips I definitely look for someone who can bring me a unique personality and view. I have to agree that titles and cover pictures pull me in!
Yeah a lot of people want to play it safe and go for what everyone else is doing, but in today's world, it's more about standing out and having something different to say.

I didn’t know that RUclips doesn’t send a notification to all your subscribers. What’s the point of subscribing if you don’t get notified when something new comes out?
Well you are more likely to get suggested their videos if you have been watching content like that lately. RUclips is mostly gauging what to recommend to you based on what you've been watching lately, regardless of who you are subscribed to though. If you are subscribed though, you will be able to see other cool stuff like if the creator posted a Story or a photo to their Community tab. The Community Tab is also where they run polls so if you are subscribed, you will get to see those in your feed. Remember that you can tap the bell to get notifications for SURE on someone you subscribe to.
