Hey EVERYONE! If you're visiting the La Fortuna Arenal Volcano area while traveling Costa Rica, we would definitely recommend you check out the La Fortuna waterfall if you have the chance. Nice 10-15 minute hike down, beautiful photo opps and you can always take a refreshing dip either in the waterfall pool or the more calmer parts of the river down stream. This waterfall video has some great footage and pics and is also fairly funny. So check it out and see what you can ENJOY when you're in the La Fortuna Arenal Volcano area. Pura Vida!

Hey guys Im Michael Alan and Im DAngelo for www.TravelCostaRicaNow.com Guys, were in our home town of La Fortuna, Costa Rica. And todays word of the day is Catarata which means waterfall. We are up at the La Fortuna Waterfall also known as Catarata del Rio Fortuna. Si Hey guys theres four ways basically to get up here You can take a taxi which is going to run you about $6. Which is also the quickest way to get up here whether you have a rental car or taxi. Thats one way
You can walk up here which is going to take about an hour and 15 minutes (over 4 km or 2.5 miles to walk), but its on a road so theres like you can stop in some places theres some souvenir shop hammock places. Its some what of a long walk its up hill, down hill, mostly up hill on the way up to the La Fortuna waterfall yeah right
You can also theres also some tours that come up here theres ATV Tours and Horseback riding tours to the waterfall. Which are always fun to take.
Now, also in this same area is the Cerro Chato hike which is the extinct volcano right next to the Arenal Volcano. So, that is in this area to, but its more extream Its and extream hike its a beautiful extinct volcano you can hike up, and theres a beautiful green lagoon up at the top you can go swimming in. yeah, that will be another tape.

Hey guys thats refreshing as you can see you can swim in there Its a beautiful , nice cold water to go jump in after that LONG trek down. So, yeah. A couple of things guys theres about 470 steps! (NO HANDYCAP RAMP) Uhhh it seems like a lot more but hahaha its A LOT!! And they can be kind of slippery so just be aware of that.
This is the famous La Fortuna Waterfall, and um if you guys come during the rainy season or its raining a lot theres a second waterfall over here to the side that looks really good. Well show you pictures of that was well.
Now were going to meet you back up. Now if youre not in shape like I am you might have problems going up and you might need to rest a bit. Me, I use this as an exercise workout.
I think ummm almost half way up theres a bench area where you can rest if you need to other then that youre gunna just have to stand on the side and rest But, me Ill meet you guys up there see you in a few okay?!

Hey guys, quick tip theres two souvenir shops here one outside (by the parking lot) and one inside. The one inside is a little bit bigger and has more stuff here, so if youre looking for souvenirs and youre in the area, and youre up here this one (inside the park) might be better than the one outside in the parking lot. Just a quick tip Peace!!!

Hah, this brought back memories of my trek back up the steps. That climb is no joke! Also, it amazes me how easily you walk on the rocks down right by the water fall. I basically bumped down them on my butt like a toddler going down stairs. They're slippery!
It didn't help that a few days before I slipped and smashed my face on a rock on the side of a creek in Palmichal...
