So much for the reward part, now for the risk part, 1 in 10 (roughly, per Stanford study :) guy is a psycho and will punch her or more, if he doesn't get his end of the bargain. So not worth the risk for a $80 shoe.
Obviously in this scenario, it would be the faultnof the manipulator but two wrongs do not make a right, and becoming a player who uses people...is not right. Be above that. Men need to realize that they are better than that b/c they have self control.
In regards to the actual experiment I'm pretty sure there's a lot of other factors you gotta take into consideration. Was the guy mentally vulnerable at the moment in time? Feeling lonely or single, maybe just recently broke up w/ someone? Also, if he was broke or low on cash would he have still done it? Or maybe he's well off.. $80 to me and you can be chump change for some rich people so maybe the guy took his chances lol.
