Hello Chetna, I’m a longtime subscriber that has made many of your recipes. This last week, my wife and I travelled to the UK for the first time and ate at Dishoom Carnaby….and we were stunned at the quality of the cooking. There is simply nowhere in any American city where one can eat Indian food of this quality. No wonder you’ve made two Dishoom videos! We also tried Gymkhana, and while it was a slightly better meal, the difference on the bill makes Dishoom our favorite ❤
Gosh, welcome to the U.K. Fill your boots, there are some great Indian restaurants here. About 30 years ago, we were on holiday in the USA and we went into an Indian restaurant in San Francisco. We thought the menu was really limited. When the waiter came up and when he saw we were from the U.K. . He was really excited and said “ your from the U.K., forget the menu, you can have anything you want “. Fantastic evening.
Dishoom's food is truly some of the best Indian food I've had outside India! We were in Cambridge for a month and discovered that Dishoom has an outpost there. Not a restaurant but a kitchen where they cook and deliver through Deliveroo, so you have to order through Deliveroo. Not only is their food delicious but their packaging is beautifully designed as well. I visited one of the London locations as well, the one in Carnaby --absolutely loved the decor which reminded me of my Bombay days 35 years ago when I lived there and would go to Irani cafes. @Chetna - you were asking about other Indian restaurant recommendations in London. This isn't an Indian restaurant, but right next door to Dishoom in Carnaby is a Sri Lankan restaurant called Kolamba. The food there is to die for! It's very similar to Kerala food - you can get a lace appam with a fried egg on top, served with fish curry. It was like Kerala home food! I don't know if you want to include non-Indian (Indian-adjacent?) restaurants in your reviews but even if you don't, if you haven't tried Kolamba, don't walk, RUN to it!
The spread on your table looked delicious, but I wish I hadn't seen their deep fryers. As a restaurant professional for many years, I know oil that's gone way past it's time to change out the old oil for fresh. That was not appetizing.
They fry food that have spices on them, which would turn the oil dark, does not mean the oil is dirty,I'm a chef so I know Mr so called professional, its not fish and chips
@@mikeymike1854 Good for you. I was a chef too. You can have your opinion, and I have mine. If my deep fryers looked like that, it would be time to change the oil, Mr. so-called professional.
Dishoom is one of my favorites, it's a must-visit whenever I go to London! If you're ever so far north, I had an amazing South Indian thali lunch at Tanjore in Edinburgh.
I'd love to see you review Rasa in Stoke Newington for this series Chetna, they do the best Keralan dishes and dosas I've ever had. Love your videos and thanks for all the dinner inspo!
It's such a pleasure to watch u taking these trips. The Tour at Dhishoom was fun. It feels like a true blue Mumbai resto. One forgets that it's in London. Thank u so much for all the effort.. You are a fantabulous presenter. When I come to London I know where to go. Looking forward to more interesting videos from u. Stay Blessed!
Hi Chetna, I remember trying out the ‘house daal’ from the cookbook after watching one of your videos. After that we bought the Dishoom cookbook and since then we have tried out so many of their recipes. Soo good! Finally we got a chance to eat at Dishoom last year when we were visiting London. Loved the food. Have you ever been to Chourangi? Would love to see your take on that place😊
All the upper caste especially bengoli brahmins woke liberals of khangress parties stationed at mumbai islamwood(bollywood) has gathered in the comment section
Hi Chetna, Vijays on Willesden’s Lane, North London they do Southern Indian food, it is one of my favourite restaurants’, it has been there for about 50 years, really worth visiting, I feel hungry thinking about it.😊
Please, please add a narration over the presentations-what is on the table, some details on preparation, background on why The restaurant was chosen. For a non-Indian I’m lost and I like Indian dishes
Hi Chetna. Love this series. Would be interested to see your thoughts on Prashad in Bradford. I remember seeing them in some sort of restaurant competition years ago and it sounds like they've done quite well ever since.
Great series - keep going please. This one - hmm, not sure - think I would prefer a good quality Bangladesh BIR. But seeing & hearing you makes all the difference - hope you do not mind. Best not tell my wife though ! LOL
I enjoy Dishoom too, and second the comment about the okra fries being fab 😋 I will deffo try the black Dahl and ruby chicken next time I'm there. @Chetna please try Zauq buffet in Birmingham, star city
When I lived in Glasgow in 2019, Dakhin was my favourite Indian restaurant. (Though I have to admit that my experience with Indian food is rather limited.)
Hey Chetna, nice video. Dishoom used to be one of my favourites, but haven’t been to one in a long time. If you come to Cambridge, do try Navadhanya..it’s brilliant!
In the summer of 2022, I was in Cambridge for a month and discovered that you could order Dishoom's food through Deliveroo! I don't know if that was a temporary thing or what, but it's worth checking out. I think they have a kitchen there, not an actual restaurant.
Great Video, love your energy I would suggest trying Manthan in Maddox Street, Bibi in North Audley Street, Amaya in Belgravia, Kutir in Chelsea, and last but not least, Dastaan in Ewell. Dishoom are great but any of the above would be better
You definitely need to visit International Restaurant in Bradford..they have two sites now. Mixed grill starter is a must have and ask for their desi style chicken on the bone ..you can thank me afterwards..😋🤭
Nice vlog. Wish you had filmed the sweet potato chaat. Wanted to see how they make it. Amman Krupal gave a very bad review of their boneless chicken Biryani, He did not think it was spiced like a proper dum biryani. The dessert which you called cake - was it shooji Halva. The texture was like halva not a cake.
I cant film everything on their menu...... also their biryani did not taste like a dum biryani because its NOT! 😂 its berry biryani inspired by the restaurant in Mumbai. Clearly your friend didnt know what he is talking about. And that WAS cake, why would I call halva cake? I called it cake because it was a cake!
This is local to me, been a few times food is good nothing wow. Service is great until something goes wrong, Eastern Europeans serving may know how to seat you and bring you food but have NO clue about customer service when something goes wrong. No manners, “she told me that’s how we do things here”. when queuing for a table the staff member did not take our name. When we returned at the time we were given we were not on the list, other customers who were seated attested to seeing us wait. The staff member who initially spoken to me completely avoided getting involved and the manger didn’t call him over even though I asked her to.
Unfortunately I tried their berry biryani but felt it had no flavour in Edinburgh dishoom. Briyani should be packed with flavour and spices but the most I got from it was sweetness from the berries, couldn’t even taste the salt. Hope this review was an honest one, I know they work hard but just that dish really didn’t deliver sorry

This is one my all time fav! I’m originally from Mumbai and love the decor, the quirky photo frames & even details printed on the dishes ❤
Even the light switches have little painted notations on them, just like in an old dusty Bombay building!
Hi Chetna, you need to come to Newcastle and try Khai Khai, their broccoli dish is to die for! Happy to meet you for a meal!

When a simple restaurant turns into a chain, they sometimes lose the authentic flavor but, maybe this is different
