Before the price of union was only 200 per kilo or 150 if im not mistaken. The new presedent wants to support the farmers of the lokal so they dont allow to import union we wait on the harvest season lets see what will be the result if it's going the price down or keep high
The prices vary depending on the location. Metro Manila definitely have the most expensive prices for food since Metro Manila doesn't grow its own food. Go to the north of Luzon and the prices are a lot cheaper. Maybe cheaper than what you buy in Kenya. Well, except for the onions which somehow has skyrocketing prices for some months now. It's normal price is around 150 pesos per kg (Metro Manila price) and the price will return there in the near future once the onion shortage is finally solved.
Onions are expensive here in the Philippines, but their prices are going to drop significantly when the harvest season arrives in the first quarter of 2023. The other farm products, however, are affordable. Nice content!
Your tagalog accent is excellent. The daily life of buying local groceries is very educational. Chayote is excellent in soup. When I go there I will make a video of the dry/wet market too. FYI food prices in America have gone way up recently so comparing to Kenya price might not be accurate.

20 dollars can cover a two days of food supply for a friends of four, but rice should be included to fill the whole appetite and it includes a little budget watch too.
The reason why the price of vegetables and fruits is expensive because the Philippines is prone to tropical cyclones due to its geographical location which generally produce heavy rains and flooding Recent typhoons have hammered the production of crops like vegetables, rice and fruits, driving food prices higher. But in some area of the Philippines the price is 2x lower especially in Visayas and Mindanao.

Hello Tigress, that 20 dollars can go a long way here in the province of Nueva Ecija, Central Luzon. I can buy lots of fresh vegetables, fish or chicken and much more, where that 20 dollars don't go far when i'm in San Diego, California. God bless
Immensely educational; however, the Filipino fruits and veggies are much cheaper than the USA. In the USA, a shopper would not obtain that vast amount of fresh fruits and veggies for $20.
Hello african tigress. Have fun in the Philippines. I am filipino currently working in Africa neighbor country of kenya in South sudan, one of the unsafe African country.
Lol .. I suggest don't buy yet onions nowadays because there are still issues on its prices, it is totally skyrocketing.. even us filipinos don't get that Logic why prices of it are going up, but obviously, DA (Dept. of Agriculture) has the problem that never been solved yet and explained to the public. 😂
Sometimes foreigners are not changed the local prices. This common I don’t like to call it a scam. Obviously poor people try to get a bit more if they can.
Onion has been the most controversial food item in recent days in the Philippines when its supply 'mysteriously' became scarce maybe 6 months ago, starting with the white/yellow onion. In the Philippines, white and yellow onions are usually cheaper than red onions by up to 10-20%. Before the shortage of supply sometime 6 months ago, the red onion was only about P45-P60 per kilo while the price of white and yellow onions ranged between P40-P45 per kilo. When white onion supply suddenly disappeared in most local markets across the country, the price of red onion skyrocketed to 100% higher than its original price ranging between P80-P100. The absence of white onion supply has pushed the price of red onion steadily higher and higher every week. Today, as you can see in the video, its price has already hit its highest level since the shortage began 6 months ago at P650 per kilo which is about 1,000%.
Thanks for sharing their market is a market for sure everything is there.Even though food stuff is a bit expensive but you find everything you want..👍❤️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🙏
So the sweet melons are cantaloupe in the US. That honeydew melon must be a different variety because they are light green in the US. Kiwi’s are good and they are good weight loss especially for losing belly fat. Guava is good in smoothies Those small mangos we call them champagne mangoes they good too. And persimmons to me are nasty they are like fig so I’m not a fan. And those onions are beyond overpriced and tiny.

Yes, it expensive. Cost of prime comodities here is expensive compared to Kenya. If I have given an opportunity, I like to live there and Uganda also, I like.
