There's pretty good information in these comments. Coming from a person who have been on MJ, Wegovy and compound semaglutide, I will say that I experienced hair loss while on MJ for sure.. I'm not taking any of the meds anymore but if I could offer one or two things to those who might be taking the meds or even considering.. get your protein in, drink your water and don't be so quick to weigh in.. you will drop those inches for sure. All the best.
I can relate especially about not getting enough protein/micros-I'm 50 pounds plus down and at goal weight. Feb. marked one year for me on MJ. I did work out the entire time but did not get enough greens like I should and vitamins and now cleaning that up. Although I worked out, I did lose some muscle due to the lack of protein so be sure to get it in. MJ has been a blessing but we must do our part as well. I am on 10 mg and have no plans of going any higher; in fact may go down and see how my body responds. I've heard several folks say they dosed up too fast and once at 15 mg there was no other place to go...listen to your body dosing up is not always the answer. Just because you can does up does not mean you should and there is no data that shows if you does up you will lose more weight; that's just not true. Good content and thanks for sharing.
Thanks! This is great info. I'm wondering, now that you are at goal weight (at least you appear to be😊) whether you have been able to decrease your dose at all in order to maintain. I lost 50 lb very slowly without help from drugs and have kept it off for several years, but have been stuck at 35 lb over goal for about 2 years. So I will be starting on Mounjaro in a couple of weeks. All of these tips are super helpful.
I’m so frustrated! Especially since I’m paying out of pocket, but more importantly, I have not lost a single pound. I did the 4 weeks of 2.5 and now 2 weeks of 5.0 but nothing! Food (esp sweets, my weakness) are still exactly the same. On Ozempic, I lost a ton of weight but was constantly throwing up (not fun!) and there were many days I couldn’t get out of bed. Not worth it to me and I thought switching to MJ might be better but no weight loss 😢 Do I have to go up and up until I get there? Are some people just immune to MJ? I hope I am not one of them! Any ideas aside from the more water, more protein & more exercise (and try injecting in various places)?
Try fasting with it. It was hard for me to lose a pound but I added fasting since my work schedule doesn't allow much time for exercise 18:6 and the scale is now moving. Also, little to no sweets they don't taste the same to me now so easy to let go.
I was able to lose 50 lb without any drug assistance and didn't lose any hair or muscle mass. I think those problems may have to do with the speed of weight loss as well as whether you're getting enough protein and doing weight-bearing exercise
@@lokipokeyyep! Lack of protein is usually the culprit. Hair is made of protein and as we lose weight we lose SOME muscle mass too. So if we’re not weight training and eating adequate protein then hair can come out. What you suggested is definitely on point!
@sweettea2097. You're fortunate you don't need to use " these weight loss drugs". Unfortunately for many insulin resistance, inflammation and other physiological issues has warranted implementation of the GLP medications. Your comment sounded a bit more insulting ( I could be wrong) to those that need it than one of encouragement and support
@@danacaro-herman3530 Not at all meant to be insulting or made to sound like it was easy. My weight loss was painfully slow and I believe I’m insulin resistant myself. My only point was I lost hair! I also go through shedding every 2-3 years as it is that lasts for months. It grows back, but my hair isn’t as thick at my hairline like it once was. Losing hair while dieting and losing weight is a common side effect.
You are SO wrong about "dosing" up! It is not meant for ppl to stay on the same dosage every month. Each month, every 4 -5 weeks you are supposed to move up to the next dosage until you reach 15 mg. That takes approx 6 months. By then your body should have adjusted and your A1C should have dropped significantly close to a normal reading or close to it. It's also NOT the lbs you should be concerning yourself with but the INCHES lost. Even if you feel like weight wise you're "plateau-ing" I can assure you, your liver is meticulously metabolizing the medication and you are dropping inches from around your neck and face (one of the 1st indicators that it is working!) And you will see your thighs shrinking along with your waistline. I dropped from a waistline of 43 inches to 31 inches in 6 months. I was wearing a 14 in Aug 2023 and today Feb 13th 2024, I am happily wearing a size 6-8 in jeans! My hair is not falling out. I keep it conditioned and hydrated. Get a humidifier. Maybe the air in your home is dry and you don't wear a scarf or Bonnet over it when you sleep. Trust me it's not the Mounjaro taking it out. It's human error😊
You were my size. I’m now four weeks in and don’t think I have lost much, if anything. Some days I do feel as though I am shrinking, but mostly I don’t. I’m very much hoping this increased dose gets me going, and I definitely feel more indifferent towards food since that fifth shot.
To the first reply that she's wrong about dosing, she's more correct then what you are saying. Nowadays doctors know more and they are dosing up much slower, they are encouraging staying as low as possible as long as you are having steady weightloss. There are people who stay on 2.5 for a year, and people who never go higher then 5.0 I've been on 10 strength for 5 months where I was losing a steady 4- 5 pounds a month. Month 6 showed me it was losing its efficacy because I gained a pound. So I'm starting 12.5 next month, I'm hoping it lasts me another 5 months because once you get to 15 there's nowhere to go . There are lots of people doing it only for weightloss, non diabetic. However I don't agree with if you've had a severe stall you should push through. I didn't lose any weight on 7.5 for two months, as soon as I switched to 10 the weight came off.
And you're a doctor, are you? Everybody's body is different many incur different things while taking weight loss medication! What is good for one may be totally bad for another. You can't say that she is wrong. And in fact you are wrong about her losing her is down to human error. That is a ridiculous thing to say. Thousands of medications with prolonged use cause hair loss. The guidelines on many medications are just that "Guidlines" when taking this type of medication it is better to get full support from your doctor and ongoing backup, especially with diet, suppliments and exercise etc. The longer it takes for you to lose weight, the longer it stays off. Your body is not designed to put on/lose weight so quickly as this is detrimental to your health. Everyone needs to go at their own pace. Please think before you wrote something negative like that on someone's video, etc. You don't walk in their shoes. You don't know her daily struggles, and what you say has an impact!
You don’t need to dose up if your dose is working. I am on 2mg and keep, losing weight and it’s been months. Even the starting dose is high for some people and can start at 1mg, you will avoid any side effects. I LOVE this stuff. It’s miraculous.

Please yes, video on protecting hair shedding
Wow, thanks for the heads-up!!

More and more new obesity drugs coming. Hang in there.

You lose hair losing weight anyways. I took plenty of supplements and ate high protein and still lost hair. I didn’t use these weight loss drugs.

I have lost 150lbs! I regret going up on dosage too soon!
