David is living the dream that is just a few steps beyond our own back door. To me he is a visual poet, capturing those momentary joys we can all feel in our own garden of earthly delights. Thank you David and Gardening Australia. In 2020, I felt an urgency to get into the garden because I had to. In 2021, I want to be in my garden because I want to. God bless the gardeners!
Wow, David’s films, he’s a great artist of light and sound, making such visually inspiring and uplifting vids. I always feel chilled and relaxed after watching. I subscribe to his channel and wait eagerly for his next film. I’ve been a gardener, in one form or another, in my heart and also in reality, all my life (hobbyist and later professionally). Think it’s in my genes, both from my father, my grandmothers parents and more importantly from my dear, gentle grandfather. I loved to see people, during lockdown, take to gardening, for whatever reason; more time and as David indicated, possible food restrictions. The planet had a reset moment in a way, with everyone cutting back on pollution. It was so noticeable, I felt the best in physically and mentally. I do hope those that found their way to gardening have and will keep it up. I hear some say, “I don’t have the time now”, but they make time for the everything else. It’s up to each individual how you prioritise your life, but when the worlds crying out to be cared for, and Mother Nature is throwing all sorts of trials our way (people are loosing homes to wild fire due to lack of rain, others starving for failed crops, homes and farms washed away in floods, diseases on the rise) you have to ask yourself, is the weekly trip to the cinema, the regular takeaways, driving miles for hours to go to places really worth me not providing my family with good nutritious food. It’s only contentious when those who don’t care ridicule those that do. David’s consistent love of what he does should make anyone turn a tiny part of the their garden, window boxes etc to growing something edible. If everyone did, we could swap crops and enjoy better nutrition to help a better life.
That short six-minute video felt like a feature film. Spectacular! Beautiful storytelling, stunning imagery, and inspiring results in that little Weedy Garden on a hill. I will definitely be heading back out to my small backyard patch in the morning with a fresh vision!
I was completely mesmerised! It's not often I stop what I'm doing to actually watch, in detail, what's on, but this was amazing. I'm over to his channel now.
@@TheWeedyGarden upto video 3. Only one show I watch on TV and that's home and away. Anything else I watch is here. And you're one of the reasons for it 😁
Absolutely LOVED this. The photography is stunning and his garden is gorgeous. I’ve been semi self sufficient for years and my kids think it’s really funny and always tell their friends about us. I love that so many people are coming over to the dark side!! 😉👩🏻🌾
LOVED IT! As a fellow inhabitant of Bundjalung country, I love seeing what grows well in our region, what works with pests, what the locals are up to... beautifully inspiring story 💗
thank you, my wife, and I did the same in the first lockdown in WA so happy now we both turned a negative into a positive, our garden has never looked so wonderful
This was awesome, will have to check out his channel. I think a lot of us turned around and headed into the garden when we couldn't leave, I now have something I have always wanted my own orchard in the suburbs, with raspberries, blackberries and blueberries surrounding it. To add to the raised garden beds we put in. But you learn some many things, like who knew that fresh carrots out of the ground, that their skins are not bitter like the shops, or that fresh garlic crushes so much better. I have grown things before, mostly watermelons, corn etc, but am really enjoying the new, carrots, capsicums, and of course, planting the first-ever trees in my 36 years of life, can't believe I have never done that lol.
Looks like that. And here I am in the bush, trying to keep a low profile and just “live” off the grid. Makes me laugh really. As long as I can hear the birds when I wake, and the crickets when I sleep I’m happy. I’m amazed at the amount of feedback and comments from so many people who are being inspired again. Teaching by inspiration is the highest form of education...and I know zilch about gardening 🤣🤣🤣
@@TheWeedyGarden the basics are Whats essential to understand and many people dont have a grasp of that. Ive been doing it for years and we all learn new tricks from each other. Keep calm and garden on!!!
This is absolutely, hands down, the best gardening video I have ever, ever, watched! The story, cinematography, narration and presentation are simply stunning. What an inspiration! And what a generous man, sharing his story!
I have heard in olden days atleast in my culture they always had small patch of crop reserved for animals. They never use even organic insect repellent in that patch and even bird feeds on that patch. In modern era people are more greedy and they want all the crop with chemical pesticides and chemical growing boosters. They forget we are also type of animal which can die from same poison. We forget we need to share.
Beautiful video! Why is my veggie garden NOT like that? (Asides from the fact that where I live it can go down to -25 F (-31.667 C down under). LOL I should get my camera out (once it's not a frozen tundra).
Wonderful Video ! What a fantastic project to undertake, I am sure it will inspire many to get their hands dirty. The Plant Health Pyramid vid on the Advancing Eco Agriculture channel explains a great deal about why particular bugs are attracted to your plants. Spoiler alert - healthy plants that have actual nutrition for animals and humans do not attract any bugs. Iif they do, the bugs die eating them. Amazing channel for anyone who wants to learn how to grow abundantly without chemicals. Happy Gardening ☺️
Absolutely outstanding 🙌 great find, a photographer and now not so novice gardener!!! I can see potential for a whole series! the imagery was amazing in capturing the potential we all have and the magic of the earth.

Beautiful. Totally agree, every little creature and critter has its place on this earth... I’m up here in the northern rivers as well and you have inspired me to make my garden bigger! Cheers!
Already have been doing it since covid. Gardening at first was rewarding but now in summer, it's a pain in the butt. A lot of it is maintaining the plants health with organic pesticides and sprays but the bugs keep on coming *sigh*
What an awesome bloke. Lv the quality of his camera work. And his appreciation for the little things. Love love the beauty of the night sky shots. Great when your away from the city and can see the stars.
Beautifully done! Good luck in your endeavours. Both passions (photography and gardening) compliment each other. Quite captivating. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Actually Kathy how? Does he have his own channel?
@@freedomformelbourne884 yes he does. It’s called The Weedy Garden. 😊
did he pay for this advertising of his RUclips channel or did Gardening Australia do it for free?
If that is what you took away from this video then you truly need help.

I think you aren't meant to cook the garlic or chilli. It breaks down their natural compounds. Try blending with some water and spraying.
