A quick update. Now, after a few days in France with 34 degrees Celsius (93.2 Fahrenheit), the camera stopped working because it produced too much much heat. After disconnecting, waiting 10 seconds, and reconnecting it started working again.
Well the manual off my car wasn’t very clear about all the fuses (I guess because I have a quite new EV and they don’t want you to mess around with it) so I used my multimeter to check the voltages and if they would stay alive after turning of the ignition. So I wired the battery connection to a fuse that did stay alive and the ignition wire to a fuse that dropped to 0v after shutting down the car. The advice of Dride is to contact your garage if you are not sure about the fuses. After this setup the WiFi is quite stable. At least it works when I need it. Hope this helps you.
Sorry just see your message and I see nobody replied yet. Were you able to solve the issue? I am also just a backer, but maybe I can assist you in some way. If you are using it with a USB charger it doesn’t seem to have enough power to get it up and running. At least, that was my issue. They told us in one of the comments that it should work if you use a really short USB cable. The solution for me was finding the right fuses in my car and connecting to them. Only issue I still have is when I park my car in the sun on a hot day. The camera goes in a overhead protection mode and the only way to get out is pulling the USB connector out of the camera for a few seconds.
Hi Alexander, thank you for posting this little review. I have just received my Dride and yet to install it. Mine has the cellular option so will be fitting a nano simcard as well. Thanks for your tip re the Samsung Pro Plus 128GB card. How does the parking mode work ?. Does it record continuously ?. Also, I am assuming that the unit captures audio and that the date and time is embedded into the video as well ....
I think the parking mode works with some kind of radar (that’s what I’ve read) and it creates videos with a category events. And yes, it saves the videos with a time and date stamp, as well as a map, it also stores audio from the inside facing microphone. Oh and I noticed it continually recordes clips of 1 minute with a first in first out principle. So the oldest clip gets deleted to make room for a new one, so push the cloud button for the video you don’t want to lose.
I have one and it requires hard wire to the battery - can’t use usb power. PITA and be prepared for more involved set up. Hearing issues with battery connection as well. Very disappointed.
Hi @marienight4136 The unit does need to be hard wired. In one of the last communications off Dride the pointed this out again. Powering via USB is only for testing and it should be done with a more powerful usb charger (like a laptop one) and a very short cable. I tried it with the supplied, long, cable and a 65w brick but it didn’t work for me. Until now, I haven’t had any issues with it being hard wired. Testing it from my sunny vacation location right now and no issues. I hope it is going to work out for you, once you have the hard wiring done.
B.T.W. I’m not saying it’s a perfect product. It could have been more clear we can’t use USB from the start (I can see this is an issue with a rental on vacation or if you have multiple cars). But most of my issues are with the software, like cloud upload button not working on WiFi model and I don’t want to hold my phone while driving, or the over saturated color of the image.
Hi Rohan, just saw your message. To be honest, this is my first dashcam ever and my first impressions were also not to great. Also because I have a WiFi only version and I needed to reboot my cam almost everyday, because it stopped recording when the SD was full. Now after a lot of updates I’m being more optimistic. But as I said, I don’t have any comparison. What can do you recommend?
Hi @alimansyur5882, the camera unit only has a Micro SD slot (I would suggest a fast U3 because of the 4K) and a SIM card slot. I don’t have the cellular version, so mine has only the Micro SD.
Thanks Alex! This is really useful to know. Just asked a couple of questions on the forum. 1> Wondering if it works like Sentry Mode on Tesla so in the event of car being hit while parked or an attempted break in, you get an SMS alert (I know you don’t have cellular version). 2> My car is going to be parked at an airport long stay soon for 2 weeks so wondering if there are any battery drainage issues to be aware of ??
Hi @brianbenjamin8071 first off all, tank you for your comment and sorry for my belated response (I just saw this comment). As you pointed out, I don't have the cellular version so I have to respond with the things I read on Kickstarter. The function should be like the Tesla and send you a notification when an event occurred. Also will that video be uploaded to the cloud automatically. So you should be able to see the event on your phone even when you are on a holiday. As for battery drainage, I haven't had any issues with it so far, but the longest I parked my car was about 2 days. But because you connect it to the battery and to the ignition, it will detect when the car is parked and go to a low energy mode. I hope this answer is helpful to you
Hi @YossiTurbine13, I expected some issues with a first edition of a new product. This also happens to big companies like Samsung or Apple. I invest in Kickstarter projects because I like an idea and want to help making these ideas reality. If I look at the camera footage on my 65” 4K TV, it does look like 4K and also the file information shows it is 4K. My only issue is the color saturation, but that is fixable with an update. I must say I don’t have much hardware issues, except from 2 times an unsuspected shutdown. What kind of issues do you have?
I don’t have any comparison to other dash cams, but the worst thing is the communication and the unkept promises. We are all still waiting for our rear camera units and I don’t think I will ever receive it.

Hi did you hardwire it and do the wifi stay connected?

Can’t even connect it to wifi now… just received😢

The cellular version has 128GB built in storage as well. So no need for 128gb Samsung Pro card.

Thank you for this movie. Nice to see this product in my own country.
@@VWNMSOEST Thank you for your comment and the appreciation.
The worst dashcam I ever had

Do we need to insert both eMMC and SD Card ?
or just use one of them

MicroSD up to 1TB is supported by the way. I currently use a Samsung Pro Plus 128GB

👍
The worst piece of equipment I ever own. This is CLEARLY not a 4K dashcam, it's not even a dashcam. It's a buggy toy. Nothing works as it should.

Garbage don't

this is garbage
Hi @jinyu6514. Thank you for your opinion. Do you mean the product or my unboxing/review video?
