As always, you can check the description to learn more about the VA. I recommend doing so. Specter Alter is also all finished and will he up in half an Hour since y'all dominated the like goal on Lumen! :)
I love how committed Lizzie is to keeping that Iberian accent up throughout her performance! Might be my favorite of this update. Gives me some hope for EN Thorns.
The accent doesn't sound bad but it sounds more like a russian accent in my opinion. If you want to know what a spanish accent sounds like you can check Javier Bardem or Penelope Cruz in pirates of the caribean or search the Spanish who were represented in the fourth film.
Wait till we get something like the Italian voices but with Spanish (I really want that, HG pls) I'd find that hilarious, specially since I'm latin american lol
@@FamastChannel Nah bruh, as a native speaker I say she sounds as Spanish as it can get. Maybe you feel that way because of soome similarities between the accents, like the Rs and the more closed vowels.
probably the en dub I like the most. The accent is just *chef's kiss*, and the pitch and tone are quite similar to the original without feeling forced like with other operators. The emotions are also on point for the most part. Any criticisms I may have are just a few nitpicks here and there.
This is actually so good, arguably the best en voice so far. Her voice sounds young but not childish, and full of determination, which is just perfect.
Her battle lines feel like the Unlimited Blade works monologue. "My light will purge the ice My blade will cleave the tide My eyes will see the truth My heart... Will be the judge As I pray, unlimited blade works"
I know this is an analogue of Spanish English, but me being from PH (which was once a colony of Spain), this is how we sound like in English if we didn't try neutralizing our accents.
I like it better than the JP version. No offense, but she sounds like a child. Besides, Lizzie went well adding a spanish accent to the voice since Irene is Iberian after all
Anime characters who have petite body frames generally have high-pitched voices. Which is why they hired Kugimiya Rie, one of the most prominent loli VAs to voice her
The EN voices have been a welcome change for me because it's what kept me playing AK. The amount of care and love into not only making it sound good, but to correspond to the operators origin inspiration, really wowed me. Yes, some are a miss (looking at you, Lava) but majority of them are all so good. Can't wait to see, and hear, the new batches of EN voices coming up (God, imagine what Saga accent is...)
I'm surprised they went with a Spanish accent for her considering they couldn't even commit to British accents with all their Victorian characters. Only Horn and Heidi have the accent. And they didn't even give Blacknight an Aussie accent. Wonder what other regions they'll give an accent
I like Rie Kugimiya but I always thought of her as the gf from I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying anime... which meant that hearing her voicing Irene was weird. So I prefer Lizzie because she fits the grim setting more. They're both excellent voice actors but a Spanish Inquisitor sounding, well, Spanish, is more fitting.
I've been playing Farcry 6 recently and Forgot Iberia is basically spain... Picture my shock when Irene Had the same Accent as Dani Rojas. I like it tho. Fitting.
I like this better than the JP ver. Not much a fan of high-pitched loli voice. The accent really on point. Also I just realized Aegir here is pronounced as ayy-grr, not Ae-gear.
@@Kounnah Yeah - during Invitation to Wine, Kroos runs into Blacknight and they end up speaking "Rim Billitonese" to one another. It's written just like Australian (Victorian?) Came here cause a friend asked me if it sounded Spanish (Fun fact: I'm from Spain). For anyone interested, overall it feels like a forced accent. Some parts of her lines are actually pretty good, and I'd dare say impeccable, but you don't need to pay too much attention to see how she pronounces some words and letters in a way that, compared to your average Spaniard, doesn't sound like a full Spanish accent. The most notable one, for example, is the way she rolls her "R"s (Usually Spanish people try to pronounce them the English way, but due to it being kinda difficult for them it ends up sounding kinda odd). Hers are rolled to the point where it starts sounding Russian (or maybe even Caribbean? Unsure about this second one, but it definitely reminds me of how Jack Sparrow pronounces them), while a Spaniard would probably sound like a more rough English "R", as if they were struggling to pronounce it (which they usually are lmao). Tldr: Sounds kinda forced, but I'd give it the pass. Edit: Saw someone in the comments saying this, so I'll repeat it as well. Good examples to know how Spanish accent sounds while speaking English are Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem 👍
I'm also of Spanish origin(being Mexican, but my native language was English). I too noticed the small oddities you pointed out, but because of my complicated "history" I figured I may end up getting some things wrong. So it's really cool to see this analysis from someone who can provide one that's more accurate. I like this comment, thank you for your word on this!
@@MINNOWBER I'd say it's average-sized, but most anime girls got the Hime Cut™ or her bangs are well bellow the eyebrows, so no forehead is actually visible, which in turn makes Irene's bangs massively shorter in comparison and thus making it seem like she got a beeg forehead.

I'm with the people who really dislike her JP voice as well, and as a huge fan of Irene since under tides I was waiting to see if they would make her an operator. I was REALLY excited about her finally getting to become a playable operator, but I was really let down to hear the voice they picked because it doesn't fit what I imagined in Under Tides at all, she's not the type of character that should sound so "cute" and young, and that's not to say she isn't those things but she's a very serious, mature, and determined woman of the inquisition and always gave me the feeling she'd sound mature and have more presence despite her size. So imagine my surprise when the English dub (that I also never expected to exist in the first place) actually surpassed my expectations and went all out with giving her an accent to match her background and lineage AND made her sound more mature and cool like I had imagined.
