I wish you had gone over the fact that no one knew the floor plan of the house because he kept hiring different companies to do the construction after the previous builders quit after non payment. How he got away with stealing a safe is also pretty interesting.

As long as you used different insurers and poor working women that no one would miss, he could just say it was standard practice for his company to insure his employees and say they died on the job.

I'm at a big stone door with four indentations in it, and there's a wooden disc here about the right size to fit in the indentations ... Okay, and what do I do once I find the other three? ... Something this video neglects to mention is that TB was claiming a lot of lives, so people disappearing wasn't so uncommon, and communication was not as rapid as it would later become.

In high school I did a psych paper on H. H. Holmes. One of the most interesting parts about his story is after he got caught, and near the end of his trial. The widow of his old partner gave a heart wrenching testimony that made everyone in court weep, except Holmes, who stayed emotionless (as he was reported to be during most of the trial). The next day Holmes (I’m not sure if he was being questioned, but I believe he was just at his seat) broke out in tears, and started sobbing. Later he admits it was all fake and a ploy. The biography I read said that he faked it cuz he noticed the amount of support the widow was getting during her testimony, and thought if I could get them to cry, then they will be in my side. (Not what I think just what I read)

    • @fishbonetrunk6645

He was obviously a psychopath he sold fake juvenating elexirs and fake jewels downstairs. He also openned patent shop to get ideas to murder people. One showed him an oven to make glass which he used to get rid of bodies including the inventor. I think its creepy that till today psychopaths are not even regarded dangerous even if there caught, as they lie perfectly. We should put those people away for good they cant change. He was greedy beyond. I hope we will having fmri scans in future to catch them early on. Before they murder but many or all harm their sourroundings with their constant lies and chaos they create.

When I read about him initially few years back I found out he killed his last victim in Toronto and I live here, so I was curious where the location was. They have changed street names so it was a bit difficult, but after a bit of research I pinpointed the location, the house doesn't exist anymore, now it's a high rise condo building where I lived in!! Always gave me the creeps after that parking my car in the underground parking, knowing a child was killed there. If anyone wants to know the current address is 37 Grosvenor, in Toronto.

H.H.Holmes fascinates me. Partly because he's from my home state but also because I have no idea how he would get away with any of the shit he did today. He killed so many people... and the way he built his castle would never be allowed today. Like... there have to be so many inspections of buildings like that and with social media he could never just disappear someone. Not even to mention that DNA evidence would be able to help figure out how many people were killed and who they were. Plus the bodies and skeletons he sold could be identified more readily.

Hollywood has been planning to do a film about him, so he is becoming a hot topic for documentary. Over a year ago I joined a script reading for an independent film about him as well. The producers were eager to get it out before the Hollywood studio version. It was pretty gruesome. There are some who suspect he didn't die during the hanging and resumed his activities. There are also those who suspect that he was Jack The Ripper, claiming that the Whitechapel murders coincide with when he was visiting London. I don't know, myself, how much solid evidence there is for that claim.

Besides for money grubbing companies (which, admittedly is basically all of them, and definitely all the insurance ones), insurance makes a lot of sense for the individual and for society. The individual gains the security of knowing that his prize possessions (house, car, etc.) can't be completely lost, it's at least insured. Society gains by distributing the consequences of the unlucky, which everyone is, eventually, and that person not having to take years to dig themselves back out of a problem, they were insured.
Insurance's purpose is to even out the high points and the low points, to try and not let the really bad things that do happen completely destroy the lives of those affected.

Not really "one of the first", but more "first well publicized". Serial killers have always been amongst us since humanity began.

What is decay? What is radioactive decay and how does it, or other decay, relate to time passing and how things just get old? If there is a video about this please point me to it!

Anyone who builds crazy buildings for their own insane desires is fascinating to me. Unfortunately his desires were a lot more sinister than Sarah Winchester's.

Hey I wanna know why the term “welshing” or “welching” became slang for not paying a debt? Like did some notable Welshman refuses to back out of some epic debt? Gimme that story

I like the fact based story. A lot of channels try to turn old timey tales into ghost stories. Just the facts, ma'am.

Simon hosts for more than one channel. All three channels are owned by different companies. Simon just hosts for them all. All three wanted to make a video about an interesting man.
