Same!! Have you attempted it yet? I was looking at all the sliding panels on amazon for a while and i had a moment of “waaaait a second… this isn’t adding up… seems like the cost is way higher than the value i’d get out of it 🧐” i looked at the materials & sliding track specs and uhhhhh….. i think i could make a better solution for less?? idk but the panels were made of really low quality materials in all the ones i checked out, & i wasn’t crazy about any of the colors/designs offered. Plus, the track systems they come with are less than ideal, to say the least, for my closet (and probably others? idk). I mean the “adjustable” sliding tracks seem ironically limited in installation options - well, for my closet & personal requirement for it to work decently anyway. 😂 I’m preeeetty sure a lot of the sliding tracks i saw were just marketed as ‘fancy’ or ~hi-tech~ systems to make the prices look right 🤦🏻♀️ (& tbh they don’t seem great for some of the uses advertised, like closets but what do i know) Anywho, have you found other useful vids for the the concept? Any advice would be appreciated, but if not no worries!!☺️
@@phoebe9142 so I'm not done yet but I had wooden bifold doors already. I removed the slats and hinges so I had 4 wood frames. I'm putting two bypass sliding doors back to back and putting them all up so they can all slide behind eachother tucked away!
Genius!!! I needed a headboard idea for a bed in front of a window in an RV and this is perfect. Just going to try to upholster 1/2" plywood instead of panels. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice! I'm researching to make some panels like this to house movie posters that slide over windows to black out my media room. Thanks for showing how!
Chris, this is fantastic! This is exactly what I needed for my narrow entryway which has a 7" depth x 7' wide recess. I plan to make the wall our shoe/bag/etc functional space, but thinking thinking thinking on how to disguise this wall. I have scoured everything on youtube and images, and this is the BEST, simplest, and most doable. Very clever! I'm going out to Home Depot to get the drawer tracks now! Thank you sooo much!
Super idea. Been looking for something like this to cover opening to right of entry. Room to ‘hide’ is my craft room which can at times be chaotic. I also use the room as a spare bedroom with Murphy bed cabinet. Thank you for sharing. Ingenious!!!!
I see how you attach to wall. These are beautiful. I was looking at sliding panels to hide a closet but the cost would be $150+. This is a perfect alternative and should be less $.
Nice. I was thinking barn door hardware but it's up there in price. This is an awesome idea. My window is a little bigger but I think it just might work. Thanks for the idea.
+Honey Rowland Not sure if they will last too long in a trailer. They will shake around too much while towing the trailer and probably come apart. Sorry. Thought you should know before you start.
I may try this on some interior doors that are narrow at the master bath.. Wanted barn sliders, but the hardware kit is outrageously priced.... Very clever idea... Thanks for sharing
You may be interested in another video I did where I made a large sling barn door and I made the hardware too for a very cheap price. Here it is ruclips.net/video/EzJ4_Ogt6so/видео.html and here's the update : ruclips.net/video/OfUL09vRURM/видео.html
I can figure everything out except how you attach the cover to the wall. Is it just resting on some kind of supports? Love the idea btw. This will help me out tremendously with what I had planned.
Awesome idea! I am looking for something different to update my patio door treatment and this is what I want. This has given me a starting point! The outside measurements of my opening are 76" W X 82" L using the same size wood, do you think the weight would still be ok? I plan on using a light fabric as well
This is great for a LOT of windows and possibly small doorways too! How is that cornice board topping attached to the wall or is it attached to the board that the slide is attached to above the window trim? Thanks for sharing your ideas; it's inspiring!
I've seen this video many times and have wanted to do it for several years... now I THINK I'm ready. When I look at drawer slides though, they don't seem to be long enough to work, but I don't know!!! I don't think my windows are any wider than yours (they're a bit taller, but that shouldn't matter), so I don't know how far to expect them to move back when open, if that makes any sense. What size slides did you use? Thanks!
These are all good questions. My window size, including the window trim, is 69" x 43" ( 175cm x 109cm ). The panels I made cover the window trim. The drawer slide size I bought were 21" ( 53cm ). Measuring from the centre of the window with both closed together, and then sliding one of them open, it will open 22" ( 55cm ). If both are opened it would open a total of 44". You can buy these slides at Home Depot. I think the biggest size they sell is 21" or 22". Here is a link to them on the Canadian Home Depot web site:www.homedepot.ca/product/richelieu-22-inch-side-mount-soft-closing-full-extension-drawer-slides-2-pack-/1001066217. You could also search the company that makes them. They do make longer ones. They're made by a company called "Richelieu". FYI: 1) If you have pictures on the wall beside the window, the panels will hit the picture. 2) if you have a breeze coming in the window the panel will make a noise and rattle against the bottom guide that I show in the video and if you make them without the guide, the panel will blow in and out and eventually possibly pull the drawer guide off the wall. The window we have this on is never open for air. Hope that helps. Good luck.
T. Martise Nelson Same question here, my windows I love this idea for are 47 & a half, what all the 5 blinds are I so wanna replace for another clean & private look. LOVE THIS IDEA!!!!!!!
One half of the door glide attaches to the wall the other half to the panel. I mounted a piece of wood right above the window trim in order to attach the glide to.

Your the only one i can find who doesn't make this complicated or costly. Thank-you Chris! You saved me $100-300 bucks. Appreciated.
Glad to help
love love love this. thanks. how about sliding fabric panels for a cabinet or bookcase. this video is total inspiration THANIK YOU FOR CREATING

I bet it keeps the room warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer!! Great job and idea!!
Love the idea! Very creative 👍🏻

Thanks! Good idea. FYI, for others who might like to copy this design, you could achieve full view by using "full extension" drawer glides.
hi Micheal - could you please explain what you mean? I'm interested, and might be what I'm looking for. Thanks.

Dude you’re brilliant.
Glad you think so!
@@chrisnotap I binged all your videos last night. I got a lot of DIY projects now. Thanks for your content.
I just got similar Idea...so started searching RUclips.. found ur video.
I will be doing this is my Campervan using 3track channel....
Really Nicely done! Very clever, easy and affordable!
Just what I was looking for.....absolutely brilliant!

I'm going to try this on our travel trailer. I hate "curtains" and covered windows but I hate being exposed at night. I hope I've room for it! Thanks!

Nice work!! This is really beautiful.
Brilliant!
What a cool idea - thanks for sharing.
This is genius!
Very Clever!
Love your idea better than what we used. They bought sliding barn door hinges
Great Video. Thanks for sharing!
this is awesome! thanx for sharing!

Genius

very cost effective alternative to building a barn door style covering. I see you posted this a few years ago, how have they held up?
+Anthony Manuel Not a single issue with it. It is the same as it is in the video today.
This is absolutely 👏 thanks for explaining so well what did younuse as the tiny guide?
Beautiful...
Thank you! Cheers!
Love it
This is great for a LOT of windows and possibly small doorways too! How is that cornice board topping attached to the wall or is it attached to the board that the slide is attached to above the window trim? Thanks for sharing your ideas; it's inspiring!
Yes, your right about where the cornice board is attached. Thanks for your positive comments.
Thanks. I'm looking forward to incorporating your idea for window coverings.
this could be an alternative window screen!
badass
Cool
I was thinking in something like this but with bifold panels.
That would be cool!
Hi great idea could I use these gliders on old light wardrobes?
Hi Chris, I’m about six years behind you.
I want to try mounting my sliding track from the bottom. What do you think-any reason it wouldn’t work?
With it at the top, the frames are hanging. At the bottom, the frames would tip over and twist the slider.

Love this idea. I want to make a 36 X 72 panel to cover my laundry closet. Do I need a 36" drawer slider or will 28" or 24" do?
36" for a one panel slider.
Reminds me os japanese doors. Im assjming its easy to dissassemble for cleaning?
Really not much cleaning. Dust maybe along the top, but you can't see that. I've never touched mine. Still looks the same.
What was your window size, slider size and panel size?
I'd like to know too! My window is about 55 inches wide, so I'm wondering how long the sliders have to be?
T. Martise Nelson Same question here, my windows I love this idea for are 47 & a half, what all the 5 blinds are I so wanna replace for another clean & private look. LOVE THIS IDEA!!!!!!!
I don't see any hardware attached to that decorative cover. How is it attached?
2 screws go downwards into the 3/4 material that the sliders are attached to on the wall.
How did you attach the door glide to the wall?
One half of the door glide attaches to the wall the other half to the panel. I mounted a piece of wood right above the window trim in order to attach the glide to.
