I'm one of the Alaskan tribal babies adopted out to a white family in the mid-1960's (born in Ketchikan and raised in Fairbanks and Anchorage), my birth mother was Tsimshian and Tlingit, father listed as Pennsylvania Dutch. I just want to say to my unknown family in the tribes: I see you, I've paid attention my whole life (I was told of my heritage when I was two years old), and you make me proud of where I came from.
I have an Inupiaq mother raised in a catholic orphanage, an Aleut father from Unga, whose father was from Norway. Long ago they were ashamed to be Alaskan natives. I know little about my ancestors. Love these programs. Thank you.
Lately I've been thinking. I think I'm okay with not going home for the next Celebration, then I watch these folks and think I can't miss another Celebration.
my last celebration was also my great grandfather's I cant imagine going without him but I know wherever I go I carry him with me Go, if not for yourself then for your family that cannot
These are my people! My mom was adopted out of the Tlingit tribe into the white community in Michigan but now thanks to the internet I can have a moment with my people. I’m Tlingit and Irish…. Love ❤️ my Tlingit folks. I love ❤️ music and dancing but it’s my spirit calling me home. I love the rain!!!! I wish to meet my Tlingit people someday. I want to feel what it’s like to have an energy level connection. I have always loved music. Music 🎶 is my wonderwall. Now that I see how loud my people are it brings my heart home. I love to dance. I love ❤️ a strong beat. Now I see why! I am also a jokester and it’s because my moiety is the Raven!!! Thank you internet. I love my Tlingit people though I’ve never met you. I am part of the stolen generation!!!!!!! My mom I guess more than me but if you steal the mother you steal the grandchildren!!!! My mother was stolen!!!!
theres no feeling like dancing alongside your people and ancestors our songs are so powerful and so are we a true test of time I am tlingit kaagwaantaan my heart aches to drum again💛

There’s a BIG family in the kwakwaka'wakw nation, the Hunt family. From my knowledge, a long time ago a noble women from the raven clan in the Tlingit nation came down to kwakwaka'wakw territory and had a family (from my understanding). I thankfully get to call myself a Hunt
