I saw him and the Gems many times at the NGQT and my mother took me to see him at area churches. Sometimes we were some of the only white folks in the building but we were treated with love as we were all there in love and all felt a little closer to heaven. Teddy passed into eternity just a few days before my mother. Now they sing together in the heavenly choir. I am hopeful for that day to join them. Thanks for posting.
I grew up seeing Teddy in concert. I have most of his recordings, several signed. Truly a great loss here on earth.

Can’t find Teddy’s version anywhere. Glad I found this! I guess The Hoppers bought all the rights wit when they re-recorded it.
Remember them fondly.
Oh yeah!! I’ve been following him for years and I’m 75 now.
Saw this group many times!awesome! Used to have this album!
I broke my front baby tooth on the corner of the coffee table jumping around to this song when i was 3 years old
