Covering the attempt to oust Mike Johnson as Speaker without once mentioning the fact that he was saved by Democrats is a truly collosal and somewhat mind-boggling oversight. While yes the vast majority of Republicans also voted to save him, enough didn't that he would have lost the Speakership had the majority of Democrats not also voted to save him. That's a significant change in posture since last October when every House Democrat voted to oust Kevin McCarthy, so only covering the Republicans' defiance of Trump, and not Democrats voting to save the Speaker of another party is quite incomplete coverage.
people are sick of a dysfunctional congress. Anyone on either side who wants to oust Johnson looks bad.
It should also be noted that more Democrats than Republicans voted with Green, and they were from the far left of the Democratic party. This may or may not have been planned, but it seriously weakens Green that it was the "far left" that voted with her, while centrist Dems voted against the measure.
This is likely due to Johnson finally cooperating/compromising on the aid deal that trigger MTG's challenge in the first place, where McCarthy had just screwed the democrats over and snubbed them a few hours before his vote. It's democrats signalling that if republican leaders are willing to work with them, they'll at least play ball enough to keep some degree of function going in congress.
Didn’t the guy agree to allow like 6 republicans to kick him off if they didn’t like him? That doesn’t sound like it’d help with impartiality
Albania after the election: my dissapointment is imeasurable and my day is ruined
Albania is fine. Albanian political parties got their highest share of the vote and most number of seats (32/120) since countries independence in 1991. VMRO has a habit of provoking its larger and more powerful neighbours, like previous criminal leader of VMRO Gruevski did before. North Macedonia is already a very fragile country, they should be careful.
@@jonizymberi6787 thats not what i was referring to. You see both Albania and North Macedonia have their eu candidacy linked so neither can become member withput the other completing its requirements.
And thats the biggest reason why Albania is still not a member despite the fact that so far it has had less issues compared to its neighbours ( *cough* Serbia). So if N. Macedonia no longer comply with the conditions set then both will remain stuck in the waiting queue

Just a small correction at 0:29 both the presidential and parliamentary election (2nd round) were held yesterday (08.05.2024) while the presidential victory was sort of already decided 2 weeks ago with the VMRO-DPMNE candidate leading in the polls it was not certain if she would win in the 2nd round because the Albanian party told their voters to boycott the vote and only vote for the parliamentary election and not in the presidential one (its a bit confusing because both the election happened at the same time but you had a choice if u wanted to vote for one or both of the elections) and if there was not a turn out rate of 40% for the presidential election there would have been new presidential elections
Thank you for the daily news
As much as I heavily dislike Mike Johnson for delaying the aid we should’ve been sending to Ukraine, he’s at least not blocking it anymore.

Pretty big correction- Donald Trump did not support Green’s ouster motion- he supported Johnson to remain as speaker
Not until the vote was over, to make it seem like he backed the winner…
@@freyjasvansdottir9904 before the vote, after MTG had announced her intentions Trump had hosted Johnson and stated that he thought he was doing a good job. His advisors have also apparently been frequently “leaking” to the media that he thought the motion was a bad idea. He also had multiple meetings with MTG in that time and refused photo ops (very unusual for him) and never stated his support for her motion publicly (or as far as anyone is aware, privately). He never gave an outright endorsement of Johnson until after the vote but it was clear to those paying attention where he stood. To say he backed MTG is even more ridiculous and frankly, just objectively false.
lol how many takes did it take to get the pronuciations of the names right?
Probably just asked the new female presenters, I think those two are on a 100% record for pronunciations
@@tobypettit6417Actually their Russian and Ukrainian pronunciations are pretty bad (they just say them wrong more confidently so you don’t catch it), which is surprising given how consistent the Balkan ones are. Still don’t know why they can’t ask natives or just use Google Translate’s TTS lmao and instead still rely on “looking it up”.
Google translate is NOT a reliable way to hear how a word is truly pronounced, it consistently messes up even in English.
The more reliable way is to hear a native say it (but also somewhat variable due to regional accents), or look it up by being able to understand the international phonetic alphabet. These guys aren't that huge of a media corporation like the BBC, so cut them a little slack. They are doing a decent job.
You need to note that Democrats saved Johnson's skin here. There were enough Republican votes to remove him, had Democrats not decided to vote for him.
Back when McCarthy was ousted, Democrats did not do this, which is why he lost his job.
Yo it sounded like you nailed the pronunciation of those names. Respect...
He didn’t, but that’s ok.

Good news, but to whom? Certainly not everyone.
I do not agree with your comment on the 767 gear-less landing. That has nothing to do with Boeing and (pending investigation) is rarely to do with anything outside of maintenance schedules.
Give me a break. If something break or falls off every week they can't keep blaming it on maintenance. Especially after 2 whistleblowers died in dodgy circumstances.
@@JerzyFeliksKlein I agree that Boeing has massive problems, but a gear not retracting usually has absolutely nothing to do with the manufacturer. Go dig into those statistics.
@@liamgellAbsolutely nothing? Anything up to and including the design and the choice of who manufactures the wheels plays a role in that sort of thing, both of which are obviously dictated by Boeing. If it's a design issue, or a QA issue, then it is absolutely Boeing's responsibility, because they either designed it wrong, or cheaped out on the wheel manufacturer.
We've already heard how the door plug was actually faulty when it arrived at Boeing's facilities, and that they unsuccessfully tried to fix the issue, then put the door plug in despite it still being unfixed, so don't say that the manufacturers Boeing chooses aren't an issue.
And as for design, the previous 737 MAX, the MAX 8, had a flaw with its MCAS, which would absolutely count as a design flaw, and caused 2 deadly plane crashes. There could be anything from a serious design flaw here, to a minor one that increases the wear and tear the wheel experiences.
Either way, plane wheels are *not* supposed to be falling off, especially when it's supposed to have already been repaired.
@@liamgellUgh, RUclips deleted my comment...
Point was: design flaw or manufacturer flaw, Boeing can be responsible for either. Both of which could be responsible for a problem with the wheels of a MAX 9.

I mean, come on now! Do they have any shred of decency?!?!?!?!
I think you should have been MORE impressed that the Democrats voted to keep a Republican speaker IN HIS SEAT than that the same old suspects wanted him out. But still, yes surprising.
Why would the Dems want to oust a moderate Republican in a Republican controlled house?
The Democratic party are in general less likely to vote to spite their opposition the Republican party is, so it's less surprising that you'd have Democrats doing this than if the positions were flipped.
It's an important ally for global security and in the region as well. NATO countries rely on nations from the Eastern front. There is also a reason that the Western alliance works in close relations with Baltic states. They are working together for more defense in those areas.

Most sex workers want sex work to be treated like other kinds of work, with benefits, legal protection, the ability to unionise, space to do it safely and being able to call the police if customers are violent towards them without worrying about either being arrested themselves or having all their business dry up. The Bible should NEVER be the basis for legislation!
As a macedonian, we will never be able to join the EU. There are new conditions every time. First we had to change the flag, then the name, then denounce our claims on our history, then give rights to the terrorists that invaded in 2001 and now apparently the final condition is to change our history to the bulgarian.
This is not the final condition. The final condition is to start calling your language Bulgarian, what it is.
Is it a lie that you have historical ties with Bulgaria? Just because there was a strong Yugoslav anti-Bulgarian propaganda, does not change things. Please explain why your language is closest to Bulgarian and not Serbo-Croatian? Who first recognised you as a state following the collapse of Yugoslavia? Who gives you EU passports to work and live freely in Europe? Answer!
"then give rights to the terrorists that invaded in 2001"
I am uninformed on this and can't find information.
People like you are completely indoctrinated by propaganda. You just lie and falsify the history of neighboring countries. You are Slavs claiming to be 3000 year old Ancient Macedonians. This is absurd. You declare medieval Bulgarian rulers to be Macedonians, but there is no record of Macedonians anywhere in world history. You discriminate against Bulgarians, but historically you are Bulgarians. Total craziness. North Macedonia is a trouble maker and has no place in the EU. You are a young nation without a clear identity and language. You make territorial claims to Greece and Bulgaria and have ethnic problems with the Albanians. And thats for decades until we have a new nation born. Macedonian as language slightly modified bulgarian. This is a new nation, created by communist regimes.

A bit of context since you label a party nationalist. The EU promised to beginn the accession talks as soon as Maceodonia change its name, as Greece demanded. Once it was done, instead of opening the accession talks, a new veto arrived by France. This time the EU changed the way a country can join it in a way so that it is basically impossible (240+ possibilites to veto a candidate). And finally, Bulgaria put last nail on the coffin by firstly openly negating the lanugage and identity, only to later on reiterate from that possition and say that new constitutional changes are needed for them to lift the veto.
Basically, the "good guys" are the ones accepting everything Europe throws at us, and the "bad guys" are the ones saying "NO". Ex-bulgarians claiming they are ancient macedonians, who were greek, slaving to Belgrade and having ethnic problems with the albanians. NM will now pass the test of time.
Source: I made it up
@@AL-lh2ht Just the reality of their politics for the past 15-20 years, latest one to fall victim to it will be Georgia mark my words, they're protesting with EU flags and shit while Borrell cuts ribbons with the Georgian government, Georgians will be left high and dry by them no matter how much they beg
Macedonian politicians always have someone else to blame. For 30 years Greece was to blame, then the Albanians, today the Bulgarians and the French proposal. At that time, hundreds of thousands of Macedonians took Bulgarian citizenship or directly left to live outside the country and will never return. Macedonia is mired in corruption, and the ethnic divide between Albanians and Macedonians has reached a point of no return.
@@AngelSonevski Стига с тая карта на жертвата.
More trouble in the balkans oh no.
😂
well, trouble is an overstatement. We are talking about a stubborn country with not even 2 million people making a fuss about being the descendants of Alexander the Great and laying claim to that heritage while at the same time claiming half of Bulgarian history figures as their own. The Balkans have seen bigger dramas by a mile
@@Leonfromre4and2 We WUZ Alexanders children en shiet
Those "bulgarians" lived in skopje, ohrid, bitola. They are our ancestors not ancestors of bulgarians.
The Alexander claims are bad 100% agree. Not even greeks have things to do with 2,300 year old people. Ancient Egyptians have no connection to modern Egyptian either.
Anyway we are called macedonians for another reason. Slavs conquered the balkans. Some of them expanded towards the region macedonia. As time passed down they started to identify as that. Slavs take names of ethnicities based on rivers, regions, tribes.
1880 Kresna Razlog uprising is called "macedonian uprising". IMRO 1887 internal organization has word macedonia in it. Plenty of russians came and prooved slavs identify as macedonians here in 19th century etc.
We are macedonians. We aren't ancient macedonians. Not difficult to understand.
And bulgaria claims are far right nationalistic. Denying our language and history

broo, y'alls "good news" far too often has to do with things many people dont see as good news, c'mon, sex work? that was really the best you could do?
For an "impartial channel" their Good News segment is pretty skewed. I am quite sure this issue is less neutral than they think
It lines up pretty well with what the vast majority of actual sex workers want, so I'd call it good news. When an issue is polarised but a clear majority of the people most directly affected by it support a specific way to handle it, that's probably the right way to handle it.
I don't really see the issue with sex workers getting treated like everyone else
you go find a good news for them every day then

The sex workers largely think it's good news and they're the ones most affected by it, so...
That was not good news.
Why exactly is gaining legal protection for a job that's often been forced underground and into very dangerous places not good news? It's going to make sex work a hell of a lot safer, and it'll be easier for people who don't want to stay in the trade to leave.
