I just got this. The best sound I ever had on my computer, that's for sure. I have used Bose Monitor and Bose Companion 20 for several years now, and they are great sounding speakers, but the Creative SoundBlasterX Katana have quality sound that is far above them. I have paired it with the Creative Sound BlasterX G6 external soundcard (which I also have used with the Bose speakers). Match made in heaven ;)
Hi, Im wondering if this is still a good buy in 2024? I saw some old forum posts that the soundbar had issues with temperature? i was wondering if you encountered this while using it. Thanks
I just bought it, I really like the soundbar, it can play quite loud, the music is good and the RGP looks very nice. But I feel the bass could be better, I dunno. It's on the floor so maybe that's why I feel that way, it's my first time to have a subwoofer too
I doubt that's possible tbh. Most things only work with their own software. Unless there's a plugin for Synapse like there is with Nanoleaf and Philips Hue
@@TheProvokedPrawn have you tried their sdk program "aurora reactive" is it any good can you at least create profiles for certain games? Cant find any info on forums or youtube..you made a really good review on this.
yes sell razer and get products that hAVE OFFLINE MODES OR COME WITH HARDWARE WITH STORAGE FOR PROFILES UNLIKE MY BLACKWIDOW OR MY 2 CHOMA X KEYBOARDS.
Hallo sir, maby i missed it by is a volume adjustment for the subwoofer ??? It would be great if that present is..If that present is how you do that ,from the smartphone of from the remote controle..I think to by this soundbar for tv en music use ,is that useful (fit)? Best regards Tani
Thanks, great review... second video saying the same things... looking for something to elevate the experience for a loved ones sound that isn't going to be playing it loud anyway. The fact the lights can be customized will make it easy to have the lighting enhancing the aesthetics of mood setting... I don't think they would like full muti-colour RGB, but that isn't a issue it seems. I feel like it would be a good system also for me to do a mix checks on real world lower price range subwoofer systems. Optical input allows for some clever intuitive solutions to source switching also... so for me this seem like a obvious choice. Thank you for the review
Just picked this bad boy up, price was slashed. Sorry. Punny before funny. Anyways, is there anyyyy way to override the dac with another? I have an Arcam IR dac and i'm wondering if theres any way to use it with the katana
Dont have hdmi ARC then is not for tv even if have optic cable. Im using this small soundbar under my PC monitor and is almost perfect. Only issue is Subwoofer, is too slow for some music and too muffy for other type of music. I really need find small but fast subwoofer that I can connect to this Soundbar
Hello, this Katana is pretty nice but i'm looking to limit my pc wires, isn't there any wireless audio system? i tried to look for bluetooth speakers but it seems they don't work properly on pc?
The Provoked Prawn if for exemple i get a Sonor move, would it work properly on my pc? No latency? Because for music latency is not an issue but to watch youtube content or netflix or whatever it won’t be fun if there is latency.
Thanks for the review. I have two questions, can the sound be turned up or down via the PC taskbar and can those little feet be removed? Great video review.
The feet is screwed on, maybe if you remove the screws you can but I haven't tried. I often use my keyboard to turn the sound up and down but you can also do it in Windows :)
Yeah that is a first world problem for sure. The Katana has a wall mount too. So you could mount it above the monitor maybe. Though that would put the controls out of reach.
Thanks for the awesome review. I have a question tho. Does the Sub need to be plugged in? (neighbors downstairs)? (also if you have reviewed the G560, which does better surround?)
ERM. No you don't need to plug it in I don't think. It's been a while since I saw the Logitech speakers. They're both great but surround sound from this sort of setup is never as good as proper 7.1 setups imo and although it's ok, it's not as good as a surround sound headset either. Personally I'd choose the Katana over the other as it has more connectivity options and a great range of audio options.
@@TheProvokedPrawn Thanks for the quick answer. I only use a headset if I am playing something competitive, and I don't want wires all over the room for a true 7.1 so virtual surround would have to do :)
Thinking about getting the vanatoo $800 speakers with a built in dac with excellent sound or this soundbar. I am an audiophile. Using sennshier hd 660s headphones with a cherry xxx dac/receiver. I really want to give the katana a shot
Hmmmm. If you're an audio snob you might be disappointed. Don't get me wrong I think it's great - great range, good sound, plenty of custom options. But sometimes it's lacking and audiophiles might not like it.
Though it does have 96KHx support via optical which in fairness I've not tried in great depth do that might be better. It is a great soundbar though, don't get me wrong, I love it.

its worth it, already using it for 2 years
Can i ask some questions? For pc is the best sound from usb or optical? Only want 2.1 not surround, is it easy and reliable to turn off surround?
the katana has a built in DAC so there is no need for the G6

Stuck between this and the logitech g560 rgb speakers. Any insight you might be able to add?

What's that puppy/tamagochi thing on your desk? I want one :o
Have you found any way to sync the rgb of the soundbar with razer synapse?

Can you connect to the PC using an optical cable? What's the advantage of a USB connection? (except using windows app)
how can i connect the mic to the soundbar and active the voice changes on it?
can you use it with a TV and use the TV’s remote with it to change the volume?

Same. Between this, the pana sound slayer, lg sn7cy and the sony htx8500.

Is this soundbar still good in 2024? I saw that it was released many years ago. I’m considering getting one myself as there is a good deal going on.
Absolutely! I just bought one last week. This thing is definitely from the Future!! Get it!!
Does it work plugged into the series X ?
how to connect it to your computer? does the "computer" cable come with the bar?
Micro usb and yes.

Depends if your speaker supports Bluetooth, if it does then you could.

Thanks for the review. I've ordered one. Could I also ask what monitor your running ?

I think the drivers broke the rgb on mine the left corner is stuck on 1 colour. It only works on a fixed colour or wave ice
Oh noes :(
@@TheProvokedPrawn haha it's allgs who need rgb anyways
Enjoying it otherwise?
my lighting sometimes turns off not sure why? Once it did it when I turned on my headphones but can't replicate?
Hmm. Not had that happen.
It happens when katana is idle for too long. But it lights up the moment you start playing an audio via the katana.
I'm amazed with that wide monitor,x the soundbar.... 🤩

Does the rgb work with. The ps4
I dont have it but what I researched it doesn't matter if its plugged into the computer or not for RGB
Katana or G560?
I really like the Katana
Still worth it in 2021?
There is a new model now
I know but is $999 😔
@@zael7848 Nope they will release another v2 katana for 300 USD.
That was funny, you can lift the box by yourself, I won the Logitech Z680 it took two of us to lift it, the sub alone will break your back moving it.
@thunder crack I am also over 70
"Refurbished" direct from Creative Labs for $89+tax January 2024... STILL WORTH IT...
giggity!!
