Brilliant... you don't know how long I spent looking for this solution!! I love how you explained it all slowly as well, showing clearly the steps involved. Thank you so much Susan!
I have a spent many days to understand that rotation but yout video help me understand the rotation successfully i'm very thankful to you for little time for me
Hello, Mrs Susan . Thank you for your information. May I suggest another way to straighten paths? If we move the centre of the rotate tool to the left point of the line, then click a little to the right of the line and drag it to the left point, it straightens the line. This works for complex shapes.
I don't know of a way you can go BACK to figure out the degree you rotated the object, but in the FUTURE, make sure Smart Guides is turned on (Cmd U on MAC or Ctr U on PC). Then, when you rotate randomly, there will be a small gray textbox that appears alongside your cursor and shows you the degree you are rotating. Hope this helps.
You can do either, but it's easier for me to press Ctrl (Command) first and then press D - it's my own personal preference. HOWEVER, I discovered that if you press D first and THEN Ctrl, you can't use the Undo function if you want to change it. You have to manually delete the copies. Interesting, huh. I hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for your kind comment. I've taken a couple of months off to celebrate the holidays with family but look forward to posting new videos in January!
Follow the instructions at (7:02) to open the Rotate Dialogue Box, then decide HOW MANY OBJECTS you want in your circle. In this description, I wanted 12 total petals. So in the Rotate Dialogue Box, I typed in 360/12. If I wanted 8 petals, I would type in 360/8. The first part of the equation never changes because there are 360 degrees in the circle. The forward slash tells Illustrator to divide the spacing of the petal (or whatever your design is), and by pressing COPY, you keep the original petal and get an additional petal. Don't click on the copy. It must STAY selected, so you can DUPLICATE it. Use the Keyboard shortcut Command+D (MAC) Control+D (PC), and keep pressing the keyboard shortcut until you have duplicated the petals all around the circle with the number you wanted. Illustrator does the math for you. Again, all you have to type in is 360/and then the number of copies you want. I hope this answers your question. If not, please let me know the specific thin that's confusing to you. Best wishes!

Hello,
i rotated a object randomly, and now i want to rotate that into that's original position,
how i know, what the degree i rotated that object?

For rotating we should press c+d both or first Ctrl then d
