RMAF Butterworth is an active Air Force Station of the Royal Malaysian Air Force situated 4.5 nautical miles from Butterworth in Penang, Malaysia. It is currently home to the Headquarters Integrated Area Defence System, part of the Five Power Defence Arrangements. The Bristol Blenheim is a British light bomber aircraft designed and built by the Bristol Aeroplane Company which was used extensively in the first two years of the Second World War, with examples still being used as trainers until the end of the war. Development began with the Type 142, a civil airliner, in response to a challenge from Lord Rothermere to produce the fastest commercial aircraft in Europe. Type 142 first flew in April 1935, and the Air Ministry, impressed by its performance, ordered a modified design as the Type 142M for the Royal Air Force as a bomber. Deliveries of the newly named Blenheim to RAF squadrons commenced on 10 March 1937. In service, the Type 142M became the Blenheim Mk. I which would be developed into the more extended Type 149, designated the Blenheim Mk.IV, except in Canada where Fairchild Canada built the Type 149 under licence as the Bolingbroke. The Type 160 Bisley was also developed from the Blenheim but was already obsolete when it entered service. In addition to operating as medium bombers, both versions were converted into heavy fighters by adding a gun pack with four Browning .303 machine guns mounted under the fuselage. The Mk. IV was also used as a maritime patrol aircraft and both aircraft were used as bombing and gunnery trainers once they had become obsolete as combat aircraft. The Blenheim was one of the first British aircraft with all-metal stressed-skin construction, retractable landing gear, flaps, a powered gun turret and variable-pitch propellers. The Mk. I was faster than most of the RAF's biplane fighters in the late 1930s but advances soon left it vulnerable if flown in daylight, though it proved successful as a night fighter. The Blenheim was effective as a bomber but many were shot down. Both Blenheim types were used by foreign operators, and examples were licences built in Yugoslavia and Finland, in addition to Canada.

Everyone praises the animations-for good reason-but the sound design in this one is a standout compared to past videos. The way that sound effects and even the music become louder and crisper or quieter and more muffled depending on the perspective from shot to shot is a superb effect that subtly draws attention to the focus of each scene. Also the dynamic lighting of the low sunlight through the cockpit looked great. From a production and presentation standpoint, this is easily the best episode yet.

Hoping for next animation is about Lieutenant Adnan our Royal Malay Regiment who was a Malayan military officer of the 1st Infantry Brigade who fought the Japanese at the Battle of Pasir Panjang in Singapore during WW2. Superb effort, congratulations on telling this amazing story so well. Unfortunately the PT codes are those for 27 Sqn which flew the fighter version of the Blenheim. Arthur Scarf flew with 62 Sqn his aircraft was L1134 coded FX-F and carried fin flashes. Much confusion has been caused by an incorrectly captioned photograph which it is claimed was Scarf's machine. A few years ago some fabulous Time Life colour photos surfaced, taken around April 1941 which showed the 27 Sqn aircraft painted with blue undersides and a rear fuselage band similar to those worn by UK based day fighters at the time, though they would have been in the colour known as Sky.
Arthur Scarf now rests in the Taiping War Cemetery, not too far from Alor Setar where he was based. As a Malaysian myself, we thank you for your sacrifice and are honoured that our country is your eternal resting place.

It's great how the animations are experimenting more and more with all sorts of dynamic angles. And I love these stories where plucky people find themselves isolated from allies and help yet still resolutely go on despite the overwhelming odds.

I myself am a Desert Storm Veteran. Each day was a fight to get back to my loved ones back home. This story hits home for me, and I can imagine all of my fellow brothers and sisters in uniform.
Thank you Yarnhub for doing all you can to help us remember our past so hopefully we finally find the way to learn from it, and not repeat it again.
It’s crazy how long you have been doing this. I thought these were real people. Nice work.
This is absolutely amazing as a Malaysian and a long time fan of the channel. Great job once again Yarnhub!
Wow, the bravery and determination the men showed is truly awe inspiring. Thank you Yarnhub, for this incredible video.
Can't believe how many of your videos can bring a tear to my eye.
Keep the stories coming.
The animation quality is amazing, and hearing The Sound of Fear being played in the background made it even more awesome.
The fact that he held on and saved his crew mates with an essentially mortal wound is above and beyond most people.
War is hell.
"There's nothing stronger than family"
-Vin Diesel
And no words are spoken true, family is stronger together!
Thank you for telling the story of this very brave crew and the outstanding Squadron Leader ASK 'Pongo' Scarf VC and keep their names alive. LEST WE FORGET.
Every time I see a new video from you, my day gets better.
Glad that you guys are touching on Malaysia once again. I was just reading up on his last flight as part of the Malaya Campaign.
Godspeed saving his Victorian Cross.
This reminds me of the Easter Sunday raid on April 5th 1941, That is a very overlooked event and it would make an excellent video idea including the actions of Squadron leader Leonard Birchall. As usual another great video from Yarnhub, been here since the Douglas Barder video!
I feel like I'm watching a Holywood movie, the animation is wonderful, the story is touching and amazing, the narrating is also very well done, can't wait for more video, see you.
thank you for your service, our fallen heroes! without your sacrifice we wouldnt be where we are today as part of an alliance consisting of allies, former enemies, and even neutral countries
👍🏻. You guys are amazing. And that's such a bittersweet story at the end.
The animation has improved dramatically since I last saw a video from this channel!
That is truly heartbreaking story. I teared up when he got shot
When pilot struggled Home to see his wife One last time The Air wars Battles of Ki 27 Machine guns fighting the Enemy against British bomber wow Amazing animation 👌 voice 🎤 narration semma super by Yarn Hub team 👏9:03 The Emotional story of Air pilot Fighting the war missing 💔 to see his wife
Классный ролик! До слёз! Пилоты герои! Cool video! To tears! Pilots are heroes!
More beautiful storytelling with more beautiful animation. Wouldn't expect anything less from the crew at Yarnhub.
You guys posting stories like this brings back hope for humanity
Man, I love this channel, great content, I can’t believe how often you post such great animations.
Arthur Scarf now rests in the Taiping War Cemetery, not too far from Alor Setar where he was based. As a Malaysian myself, we thank you for your sacrifice and are honoured that our country is your eternal resting place.
There's no better feeling than being hyped for these videos throughout the week and then having them be even better than expected
Yarnhub another excellent story and animation - You are keeping vital historical stories alive for generations to come. Thank you.
This is Duty, Honor, Country. And He brought his crew home alive!
My uncle served in the RMAF in Butterworth during the 80s, thank you so much for recreating this amazing piece of history!
The best and only way to learn history..... YARNHUB!!
I always love to watch yarnhub videos they tell such great stories I never would have learned about this without watching this video and being able to help keep his medal where it can be shown to everyone at the museum and more people get the chance to learn about his story is well worth it I couldn't give much but it felt good to contribute what I could in hopes that more people can hear his story in future generations
Wow every single video is a better animation I definitely love this story thanks yarn hub for the amazing stories
It's great how the animations are experimenting more and more with all sorts of dynamic angles.
And I love these stories where plucky people find themselves isolated from allies and help yet still resolutely go on despite the overwhelming odds.
Я из России , восхищаюсь мужеством и силой воли пилота и всего экипажа !!!! С честью выполнили свой долг !!!! Преклоняюсь . И ведь когда-то мы были союзниками .... Против нацизма и японского мелитаризма !!!!!
Love the music from Edgar Hopp! You guys made another documentary that gives me chills. Keep up with the awesome work!
that's one of the saddest stories ive ever seen. he pushed and forced himself to get back to his pregnant wife but he died in the hospital and that's what I think is just the worst and great story Yarn!
Don't be sad. He did his job, and he got back to his wife despite all odds.
We should celebrate his life and hope that we can do the same.
I personally hope that when my time comes, it will be for something worthy.
when i started watching your channel, you had 200k subs. Cant believe how much this channel has grown since then. Road to 1mil!
Quality over Quantity, Great animation as always keep it up 👑👍
Every time I see a medal for sale it makes me said. There is a good story behind every single one of them. Sacrifice offered, often paid, for friends, brothers, family and country. Thanks
You guys do amazing work. Thank you for telling these stories.
I went to donate and someone donated 410,000 dollars…whoever that person is they are amazing and very very kind. Bless them.
