I been using the much cheaper DMC unit on my 2004 GL1800 for several years. Whatever you pay or the brand these units all have the same internals and the key is how you load and browse your music on the SD card or flash drive. SD cards or flash drives mustn't be bigger than 8GB and each "CD" folder mustn't contain more than 99 tracks and the maximum number of "CD" folders is 99. However, 99x99 is way more than than the 8GB capacity: Step 1 - Create folder "CD1" and add up to 99 tracks. "CD1" is the root directory, therefore: Step 2 - add folders "CD2", "CD3" etc. as required to the "CD1" folder; Step 3 - add up to 99 tracks to each additional folder. The Achilles heal with these units is that as you load tracks into each "CD" folder they're saved in alphabetical order so of you load more than one album into a "CD" folder you'll need to number prefix each track title 1-99 so that the albums and album tracks play in order. Also, the bike's random play button doesn't work so if you want some variety on those long trips you'll need to create your own 'random' play "CD" remembering to number prefix each track otherwise they'll sort in alphabetical order and therefore not random. One last tip, don't rush the unit when operating or it'll freeze which may require resetting the unit. But as long as you allow each "CD" or track to load before flicking on to next you'll be okay. I've max'd out the 8GBs on my SD card and have to ditch stuff before adding new stuff. Follow these tips and your unit will work great, mine has. One other quirk us that the bikes CD display only goes up to CD9 so CD14, CD24, CD34 etc. display as CD4.
I have a question for you. I bought a 2008 GL-1800 about a year and a half ago. It came with a similar device from BikeMP3 Inc which is no longer in busy. The unit has been working flawlessly since I have owned the bike. And I was lucky because I liked all the MP3’s that were added. My issue now is that I took the bike to the dealership for the 32k service to establish the maintenance records in my name and for them to go top to bottom and make sure everything is in spec. Which it is. I picked up the bike a few hours ago and the device works, however I am getting a display message that says “No CD” however I can play music and switched around tracks and disks etc… but the display won’t tell me what disc or track is playing like it used to. I disconnected the device and reconnected it and popped out the SD Card and reinserted it. No go! Do you have any ideas what might cause that? I can’t find anything specific to that issue.
@@wingandhog Hi. It sounds like you've done everything possible. Occasionally ive had "No CD" or the unit freezes. On the road it usually clears itself if i switch to radio for a while, or when i stop for coffee. Does the unit have a reset button? The kind you push with a pen nib or paper clip. Most digital devices have one. Generally, the reset button needs to be depressed for at least 10 seconds. And/or, when you've unplugged it, again generally, it should be left unplugged for at least 30 seconds even overnight. I hope this isn't teaching my grandmother to suck eggs.
@@michaelhoare5291 …. LOL. No I’m teachable. And a former IT Executive. I didn’t see a reset button but I will look again. And try that. I will also check the SD card on my PC to see if something got hosed on the card itself but it does play songs so who knows. Thanks for the quick response. I appreciate it.
Thanks Snocrushr for your help on this one. I disconnected my battery from my Goldwing left it for a few minute and the computer rebooted it self and the radio came on again. I'm also just going to use the SD card have name them CD01 to CD10 which 10 shows as CD00 with 20 songs per CD that should keep me happy. Many thanks again Snocrushr. Safe riding. William ( Belfast )
Moving in stereo . Be nice if the usb worked , but thinking the sd card might be better as it kinda locks in , looks like a usb drive sticking out may end up a bad connection after a bit . or is it held by something to stop that .
I think you are absolutely correct Terry, thinking about as you pointed out even if I get the USB working I don't think I'll use it specially in a motorcycle application.
If you are emulating 8 cds, how do you select 7 & 8? Do you not use the 1-6 to select cds (similar to how you would select cds with the factory CD changer)?
hello first thank you for the video. i got the yatour and i am at the point to unpin the white connector. only trouble i cannot find the way how. i got versatile tools from amazon for unpining but no clue how to go about it. could you please tell me which tool and how did you do it. thanks
I bought it on Ebay. Be careful of pricing and correct application. Yes it is still working. It does freeze up rarely but all I have to do is turn the bike off and back on to reset it
Just tried to fit a yatour unit today Saturday 12th November 16 Like yourself I could not get it to play so I thought it was the USB stick so I checked it on my computer and it played ok. When I tried it again just to make sure. I hope you can help me because now my radio is not working. I checked the 15a fuse for the radio but it was ok. Not sure what to do. If you have any info that would help I would be very greatful. My yatour cost £53.00 and £15 .00 shipping. Kind Regards Willie ( Belfast Northern Ireland )
This is what I got in response to my inquiry : 1.Max 8GB (2GB is most recommended);SD card is more recommended than USB stick. 2.Please format USB stick or SD card with FAT16 or FAT32 format before you save files and folders in USB/SD. 3.Imposed folder naming system: CD01, CD02, CD03 ....Doesn't read sub-folder and gets confused with other names in root of the drive. 4.Supports up to 15 folders (depending on the radio type) on your USB/SD. 5.Any number of songs can be stored in each folder, but the display of most radio models can only screen 99 track titles; Saving too big file(over 50MB) in any folder may also cause intermittent performance 6.Using music files formats other than WMA and MP3 may also cause intermittent performance. 7. The playback order of songs is in line with their created date. 8.Sometimes,to remove defect on software of car audio system, you may need to disconnect the battery or remove the fuse to reset the car audio system. 9.To use the Aux-In port, it's necessary to remove the USB or SD card. 10.YT-M06 may does not work with some of new Kingston brand USB stick. Also our unit doesn't work with some new Kingston brand USB stick. so if you have other USB to test it?I had to disconnect my battery, removing the fuse didn't help when the radio locked up.
I have put on aprox. 40,000km since installing it and using a Sandisc SD card with 8 folders emulating 8 Cds with 99 tracks in each folder. It has played 99% of my riding time with only a couple of freeze ups that required me to restart the bike to fix it. Yes I am satisfied withe the performance.
It is probably the formatting for the USB drive on Larger drives are formatted exFat and some readers will not read that. you will need to download a program for widows that will format it to Fat32 or you could try NTFS (windows native formatting) Linux will do this naively with no problem.
there is nothing wrong with usb you have to read the small print to use usb to have to format the songs to a file that they give you in the instruction very small print they all do that in the usb hook up

Hi Snocrushr. I'm from Brazil and intent to buy this unit. After 7 years you posted this video, the Yatour on well yet?
Yes still working well for me.
@@snocrushr thanks, friend.

CDs 7 and 8 are select-able with the factory Honda CD controls
That is a cool setup and nice install. Hope the company corrects or replaces the USB issue. Take care
Thanks, I'm not going to hold my breath on a fix

Im wondering if the USB needs to hook to a phone or MP3 player? Either way, its a cool device. I need one for my ford.
Very little operating instructions and in Chinglish to boot.
Chinglish is hilarious. Sometimes it's the best part of the package LOL
You're right
Technology sure has progressed from the 8 track players. LOL
The gadgets they have nowadays is mind boggling, for an old guy like me.
How it sounds? Better that those fm transmiters?
it is compatible with Honda GL 1800 Goldwing 2010 ?
How is your music player performance now, the same or worse

....and enjoying the great weather this weekend.
That is cool. Its a bum deal the usb doesnt want to work!
It will probably be fine with just the SD card, but I would still like everything to work.
must it be formatted to fat32/16??
Yatour advises an SD card which typically use Fat16
Although I am using a SDHC card formatted Fat32 and it is working well for me.
snocrushr my problem you see is i do not have a labtop to format it and only use my phone with a otg adaptor to put music on my usb
Model yatur?
Yatour YT-M06 with cable specifically for Honda GL1800 2001-2010
Mine won't show the music on my Dash says no disc but it plays smh
