Started off as an early bird and finished up as a night owl there Mike :-) Very good selection book-ending a day there, always nice to see the Sleepers, and how lovely did 86259 look parked in the bay.
Darren thanks for your comment, but I always seam to go at the wrong time as the weather has been a lot better lately and would have been brighter in the morning.
92's, 90's, sleepers, an 88 and to top it all off a 37! I reckon your early alarm was worth the effort. I too love the morning railway. Ironically I'm off to Inverness on the sleeper on Thursday night. P.S. Used to drink in 'The Westwood' in Atherstone. Cracking pub in its day...... Keep up the great work Mike, and I'm sure you'll soon be up to 10,000 subs....
Ten thousand subs Julian I don't think so, properly the early subbers don't watch my videos anymore. I still have to decide when I will go on the MK5 sleeper to Inverness, as I think I said before I was booked on one last year to visit the Wetherspoons in Wick but I've lost the interest in that hobby since the lockdowns, and the last spoon pub I went in was number 809 in March 2020. So have a good trip up there and let me know If they have opened the lounge coach again as I like to have a few beers before bed.
Thanks Mike, its really good to see the Electrics doing their jobs so competently as they always did.and do. The days when almost everything under the wires was electrically hauled, with the power of the National Grid to feed them were taken for granted a little by myself but not too much . Would be really good to see all the old AC locos again on these jobs.👍👍 as well. Wishfulll thinking im afraid.'🤨
Surely the point is not to have 50 year old electric locos but instead to have modern ones hauling long distance freight over a range of electrified lines, so including Felixstowe and Southampton.
Reggie I wish I could give you a answer to why that happens on our railways, Its just not right when you have electric locos sorted in Crewe Basford Yard. Cheers for watching Mike.
very good captures there mate. I do like Atherstone but a bit short of workings in the day time. Pity you were caught out with the first sleeper co's it was so dark, proves the we cant win em' all. The Inverness sleeper has always gone through on 4 when I've been there. looked lovely, good capture.
In years gone by Bryan I have done the nightshift at over eight stations, but I'm glad them days have gone for me, but I must say they were very busy at night in the early 80s when we had a railway.
Well the 90s took over from the 86s, but before the 86s did the services there was a single 90 on them trains, so I can think is the loading must be more than say ten years ago Peter.
@@antman09ful1 It's often just a traction issue as there's no shortage of power, but applying it for best performance is trickier with an 84 tonne class 86 or 90 Bo-Bo than a 130 tonne class 66 Co-Co. Personally I find it slightly irksome that back in 2009 I was a senior manger in a private charter and leasing company, actively suggesting that 92's took over the sleeper service, because of the adhesion issues experienced with a single class 90 during the colder months - but a lack of ETH kit saw that idea pushed aside repeatedly. How things change with a little more thought and a relatively simple retro-fit - and why they haven't become a staple with ever expanding freight operations is a bigger mystery. Great footage, so keep up the good work - no doubt we'll cross paths at some point as I'm also a semi-regular at many of your spots
Thanks for your comment, and in the end the 92 went on sleepers, but I always feel sorry for the passengers trying to sleep next to them class 92s. Regards Mike.
Excellent video Mike. Today’s cameras give superb quality in any type of light.
That is true Bryan, I need to sort out a trip over your direction to that Felixstowe line. Cheers Mike.
@@antman09ful1 yeah that would be good Mike, we might chuck in some 37s for you too see….but mind the plastic!
Great upload Mike, well worth the early start.👍
Yeah I was disappointed about the fast not being used. Cheers David.

I think wishfull thinking is the right word, but I agree 100% with you getting the class 86s back would be amazing, thank you for watching matey.

Thank you Alan, I was home for breakfast.
Very good video Mike, thumbs up :)
Many thanks Simon.
70019 sounded fantastic 😃👍🏽🎉🎉 Enjoyable video.
That is great mate, pleased you did.
Very good viewing, thanks! Disappointing to see so many freights diesel hauled when the wires stretch for hundreds of miles.

Cheers Keith, we are having some good weather this week, but in three week time the nights start drawing in again.
@@antman09ful1 Will you stop it....I'm just getting used to lighter mornings and lovely warm evenings although today i've felt like a bag of poo.
Keith I too have felt knackered today.
Good early start Mike looks like you had a cracking day mate
I got up at your time Richard, but I was back home before eight, hope you had a good week off.
Great catches Mike.
Thank you Sam, enjoy your day.
Super video Mike, nice to see it was worth your while getting up early for a bit of filming. Well done mate 🤓 stay safe 💙
Glad you enjoyed it Tony, my problem I take to much notice of our weather forecasters.
@@antman09ful1 sadly your not the only one. 🌦️🌦️🌩️🌤️
Great video from my local station and then Rugby later in the day.
Yes you have spent many hour there in the past.
Thanks for uploading again Mike, some nice captures again. You must have been almost doing the "nightshift" at Rugby 🙂👍, regards, Bryan.

excellent morning and evening shots 👍
Barry Its good to here them birds early in the morning which I never used to notice, thanks again for watching my videos. Mike.
Nice vid
Thanks Kevin for your interest.
hello mike. great video, why are some freight trains doubled headed, i notice they do not use 2x class66s but 2x 90s.
Well the 90s took over from the 86s, but before the 86s did the services there was a single 90 on them trains, so I can think is the loading must be more than say ten years ago Peter.
