- A dangerous rivalry that has been brewing since their days in the amateur boxing scene has finally hit a fever pitch as undefeated, former undisputed lightweight champion and current WBC Super Lightweight Champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) will defend his title against international PPV star “King” Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs). The 12-round fight is presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Haney Promotions, KingRy Promotions, and Matchroom Boxing. @@TheNOchick Haney never got docked for excessive clinches, but they docked Ryan for popping him out of the clench when he had his guard down... but didn't dock Haney for those punches to the middle of his back (not the legal punches thrown to his side, but the actual ones that were tapping Ryan's spine). Was weird calls all around this time and even when Ryan let go Haney was still clinching and the ref would tell RYAN to let go or get docked a point lmao.
I said it once before, Haney has no chin and if he gets wobbled by someone with a killer instinct, a finisher, then he's gonna lose. He surprised me with how well he can snap back from the knockdowns, but this exposed him. If he fights someone near his level with power and killer instinct to act on the wobble, he's going to lose. That's basically why he'd lose to Shakur and Tank who are objectively better than Ryan.

Haney literally won 5 of the 1st six rounds. The unofficial had it 112-112 as well… the gap came from if the refs scored the knockdown rounds 10-7 or 10-8 rounds. Haney won the first 1/2 of the fight and the last round. It was a beat down but not a shutout.

Ryan may of felt discouraged but I believe they fixed their relationship as they've seemed very close the last year. Oscar has a reason even though it was childish of him to not be there for Ryan regardless that night. Oscar told Ryan he shouldn't of taken the fight due to the rehydration clause. It gave Davis literally every advantage he could have besides boxing itself. Oscar knows boxing being a vet in the game and knew there was no chance. That's why he grabbed the mic here and said no Davis unless he comes up to Ryan's weight with no clause. This is what his job is. Not to babysit Garcia but to make sure he's making the right career decisions. He knows Ryan's potential and there's no reason to be wasting it on fighters like tank who have to have an advantage when already being a great boxer.
