Wow! What a cool video and metrocar! I surprisingly think these still look somewhat modern! The original lighting in my opinion is suited better than the new although I’ve only rode the metro once in the daytime ever so I can’t comment much on that! The floor I do like a lot! The unit has a lot of strange quirks to it. Unfortunate to hear the door buzzes are now all the same but all is not the same forever! Really interesting video and thank you for uploading it for me. :)

I think this interior is much better than the current one, although that could be partly because I remember travelling when all of the metrocars had this interior and so it is very nice when I get to do it again and bring back memories. I do think the black floor is better though because the white floors look dirty very easily and it is hard to come out. If you look at the white floors around the edges where people don't stand you can see they are much cleaner there and the rest of the floor looks dirty in comparison. I also like the colours on the seating and think this is better than the grey. The lighting is brighter on the refurbished trains and can be too bright I think when the bulbs are first fitted but they fade after a while so some metrocars are brighter than others. I do prefer this lighting as I think it is bright enough without being too bright. I don't really like the metal casing around the lights on the refurbished trains but it is probably there for protection. There is definitely some quirks and differences with this metrocar. There are some less obvious ones too such as that the windows on the doors are slightly bigger than on the other metrocars. The seat in the middle next to the wheelchair space is unique to the unrefurbished carriages as the other metrocars have their wheelchair space at the ends instead of the middle so it is always strange to sit in that single seat there next to the wheelchair space. It is a strange experience riding these trains for me as it is something so familiar from the past but also now something very rarely seen. This is my best metro video but I do have a few others which I will be uploading at some point too which I hope you will also like!!!

Thanks! Yeah I heard it was out for a bit in August but sadly I missed it. Great that you got it though and on full lines too! Do you know what the situation is with 4001? It hasn't been out for many months as far as I am aware. Have you seen it any time recently?
I want to get on this or even better 4001. First time I went on 4083 and 4040, it ran all the way around the yellow line to St James which is extremely rare!
Yeah that is extremely rare! I have done that before too but it hardly ever happens anymore! Before 2020 it was a bit easier to get these on the full yellow or green line service. The rules changed then as these metrocars are not considered as accessible as the rest of them so they are very rarely used on full lines now. Although since they added the white flooring around the doors, the call for aid in the wheelchair space and the next stop announcements, they are almost as accessible, it is just the door buttons on 4001 and 4002 that are not compliant. 4001 and 4002 used to be occasionally paired together but this is not possible now due to accessibility rules since 2020 with the door buttons. These rules have also pretty much stopped these trains operating on the green line to Sunderland (due to it being Network Rail track). I have not had them on the Sunderland line since 2018 anyway but I don't know if they will ever run that way again if they need to during disruption. The rules on non Network Rail track I think are a bit less strict so they can still operate the full yellow line, but not 4001 and 4002 together so they must be paired with 40 and 83. The most common pairs are 4001 and 4083 and 4002 with 4040. 4001 I have not had in service for a very long time, 18 months roughly I think and 4002 was the start of this year I think. 4040 and 83 are still around on the peak services at the moment (or were very recently). I hope 4001 and 02 will come back soon! I am sure they will at some point after they spent time adding announcements to them and also with the new fleet coming I am sure they will make an appearance at some point to recognise the old fleet. @@foxestransportjourneys9452 Its a prototype meaning it isn't as reliable aswell as the door buttons are not DDA compliant Around here though it would get destroyed and vandalised so they're probably trying to keep it somewhat preserved.
