I am not even 5 minutes into the video and you have already earned my utmosed respect for meeting locals and getting pronounciation right, which you do an immaculate job off! I love recognizing the entrance aswell!
Brilliant games and inexpensive. I’m a Clydebank fan, but I try to see my other club VVV Venlo in the Dutch second tier each season. Great atmosphere, great people, cheap tickets, good scran etc. Cycles always stick out - there are at least 1500-2000 cycles parked outside the ground on matchdays.
I loved my trips to the Netherlands for football. So glad you’re covering Dutch football, I’ve been to several Dutch grounds including FC Utrecht. One Dutch ground I would recommend a visit is De Adelaarshorst home of Go Ahead Eagles Deventer, a tight, compact ground with magnificent fans.
Utrecht fans are great. We bought tickets a few years back and landed up in with the Ultras Once they heard our Scottish accents it was beers all day on them and taken into the club house at full time that is built into the stand 👍
I remember seeing the club house On The Real Football Factorys it's extremely impressive. Love Ajax myself that 94/95 side was so impressive at the time.
Part of the utrecht fans weren't that great this game, throwing beer and firework towards ajax players & making monkey noises towards Brian Brobbey after his goal
I love your videos it’s so nice to see the different grounds, as I don’t get much news about football since I’m state side. Thank you for the great content
Great to see you had a great time in Utrecht and in the netherlands in general We always love to explain things to tourist about or country and or rich history

Crazyest Fans I've ever seen Ajax saw Man City v Ajax years ago at the Ethiad they were bottem their behind one of the goals we were above them never stopped singing and jumping up and down all the time they were in the stadium!
ironically as you are in Holland, it was the second leg against AZ Alkmaar where they got hammered 7-0 going on 10. They have never recovered and have lose 4-1, 3-0 and 9-0 in the next 3 games away to Hearts and then at home to St Mirren and Celtic
I’m always amazed how fans from the UK are shining about beer in the stands. It’s shame that fans in the UK weren’t able to drink their beer during the match. Here in the Czech Republic we can’t imagine football game without drinking beer in our own seat. Few years ago in the Czech Republic were hostess walking around every stadium with beers and you can buy your beer without even leaving your place back then. That was canceled by clubs because of growing wages for hostess girls but you can get your beer when you want and go to your seat with it. 🍺🍻
been to Utrecht stadium twice. amazing stadium, really good view from every angle. was never impressed by the atmosphere, but I did not go to a "big" game...
It's over 20 years since I was last in that area, I lived close by but never went to a Utrecht game but I know the city. Back then you had to have a club membership to get match tickets because of the hooligan issues at the time, I don't know if you still need to be a club member to get tickets. I have watched games in the Netherlands, including Bradford City playing in UEFA club competition, I saw then play RKC Waalwijk in the Intertoto
In English the name of the stadium would be: Gallows Field. Recent statistics were not looking good for FC Utrecht, but they can surprise everyone, especially against Ajax.
Damn, a Rotterdam - Utrecht train ticket costs 24 euro now? I haven't taken a train in ages, but used to do that trip on a daily basis back in the days and it was a lot cheaper than that...
Another Dutch team I would recommend a trip is Heerenveen in the north of the Netherlands because they play the Frisian national anthem before home games & their shirt is the colours of the flag of Friesland (probably spelt it wrong).
No, Please don't go there mate! Don't waste your time there! Travel a bit further to see a real club, with real fans and atmosphere! Always welcome at Cambuur! Go there and SCH is out of your head forever!
If you are still in the area this Sunday. MVV will face Roda JC in the derby of the south of the Netherlands. Due to riots there are no away fans allowed over here but it will be a great atmosphere nevertheless. If you want I can arrange tickets for you.
Hiya Sam, I noticed the Dutch Fans were singing a chant that we sing in England, I couldn't really make out what it was, maybe it was the Kiddy family chant, if you watch King Boomer youtube channel, He's reacted to Cringiest U.S soccer chants compared to English Soccer chants, give it a watch, it's from April 13, 2022, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England
It is not that easy to buy match tickets for football games in NL in my experience you have to become a member of the home club which is sometimes tricky if the forms are all in Dutch.
Have you noticed that many Dutch teams have names that don't indicate the city or district of a city they represent, e.g. Willem II, Vitesse, Go Ahead Eagles and NEC. This is unlike the four leagues of English football where only Arsenal and Port Vale are the only two teams not named after the locations of their stadiums.
You do pronounce the “t” at the end of Utrecht. Btw, Utrecht is much older than Amsterdam so cant say that Utrecht’s canals are a mini version of Amsterdam’s canals. Utrecht was established by the Romans in the 1st century.
Also the PEC of PEC Zwolle stands for Prins Hendrik Ende Desespereert Nimmer Combinatie. The ADO of ADO Den Haag stands for Alles Door Oefening and the NEC of NEC Nijmegen stands for Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie. Good luck with Google translate 😁
