    You are Not Culturally insensitive or arrogant you are American!!. There is nothing wrong with pronouncing it our way. We live in America we pronounce things the way we have heard them growing up. And you were correct anyway!. We have WAY bigger things to worry about anyway!. Excellent video Sir.

    Maybe the choil is that size was designed for striking a fero rod.

    I think that's a very good looking knife, and it seems to perform quite well! I agree with you on the choil, would rather see the edge brought back further with just a small sharpening choil, but that's just personal preference. Thanks for the demonstrations, buddy.

    The point of the toil is for fire steel. Watch fire and fero rod videos. There are many of them.

    • @SurvivalOnPurpose
      @SurvivalOnPurpose  3 года назад +2

      I would rather use the spine. It keeps your fingers away from the sharp edge of the blade and works great.

    • @jorgequinones991
      @jorgequinones991 3 года назад

      @@SurvivalOnPurpose think about at your answer for a while. Edge towards what?

    • @SurvivalOnPurpose
      @SurvivalOnPurpose  3 года назад

      Toward my hand holding the ferry rod. If I use the spine the edge is opposite my hand. If you prefer using the choil, go for it. I think it is a waste of blade real estate.

  • @andrewmcgibbon9785
    @andrewmcgibbon9785 3 года назад +1

    You could probably use that choil to scrape the fero rod.

  • @tigerpisces5506
    @tigerpisces5506 2 года назад +1

    A Choil Defined: Purpose
    A choil is an unsharpened indent on a blade where it meets the handle or at the plunge line. The size of a choil dictates its purpose, if it's large then it can be used as a forward finger grip. If it's small then the choil may be there to creat a stopping point when sharpening, to protect the handle. If the knife is sharp including the choil? You better wear Kevlar gloves on the Index finger.

    Great review. An American made version similar to this design that I would be VERY interested to see you review (balance testing and all) is the Tops Silent Hero knife. Most of the other knife channels have taken a look at it but I’d like to see you put it through its paces in your unique style. Thanks for always bringing us great content on something we all love, and I’ll keep watching you do your GA boy stuff from here in TN. God bless.

      But why sacrifice your fine bushcraft capabilities by having the edge so far from the grip when the spine works so well with a fero rod? I'm with Brian on this one.

    Another great video! I actually don't mind choirs. I grip my knives close to the blade,and using a finger choil tends to give better control of the knife. Might just be my imagination, but works for me. Take care and keep up the great work!

    Nice blade was the sheath reversible. A lot of knives are nice but most are only made for righthand people.

    • @TheBigLeeg
      @TheBigLeeg 3 года назад

      @@SurvivalOnPurpose agreed and I actually like the knife but not the sheath. We’re from a generation that any knife worth its salt had a leather sheath. Then we got the 80’s pleather sheath and onto the 90’s nylon. I really didn’t like the Kydex at first but it’s grown on me. Lightweight and versatile. Zip ties to chest rig or battle belt securely with just about any orientation one can imagine. My comment was based on the statement “…only thing not leather is plastic loop.” Which was immediately followed by something concerning nylon. So I must conclude that there’s more non leather than what was stated. Kinda bummed out because these reviews are super helpful except when they fail in a description. Now I’m left asking how much more nylon isn’t mentioned. Idk. More my hang up than anything else. I’m a stickler for details.

    Culturally insensitive, huh? So what? If you were mispronounceing it on purpose with the intent to be disrespectful, I could understand. But you had it correct. So all the haters can suck sand. Nice knive, though. Looks like it could do the job and then some.
