    Hi great video and very nice watch!
    I use UV glue to fix the keyboard in place.
    UV glue is clear, strong and it gives you total control over curing process.
    I also use sugru rubber to mimic original gasket.

    Very skilfully done man. I just have a suggestion for the procedure, see what you think.
    Glue each button to it's black stud.
    Place each button/stud assembly in their correct position.
    Surround the button/stud islands in a sea of silicone.
    Float the cover plate on top so that its bottom surface makes contact with the silicone and a small bead forms around the edge sealing it in place.

    Amazing restoration, 6:18 next time put litte drop of oil to avoid stuck silicone to the case, and in 9:13 use liquid polyurethane for that purpouse or
    neutral black silicone

    • @VintageDigitalWatches
      @VintageDigitalWatches  3 года назад +2

      Oil is not a good idea will sip into the movement later on, it is the same thing as using the liquid wax whivh is putpose build to avoid stuck silicone. Thanks for the tip on polyurethane.

    • @nopochoclos

      @@VintageDigitalWatches Thanks to you, yes maybe oil on that place its not nice, polyurethane is expensive but is a perfect solution include to buid a new wristband, i use to restore hifi vintage audio and old retro computers or consoles too 😉

    Any tips - my pristine A159, put new battery in - nothing; watch inactive, no flickering, button action ok, specified battery, tried another identical batt, tested both batts both ok. Still nothing, Batt compartment clean, no acid residue or anything like that. No weird smell.
    Watch sat in box for about 10 years with no battery. Any tips, or is it now junk?

    Hello! I have the same watch with the same problem. Will there be grease when this transparent resin dries? Will residual grease destroy the circuit board? Now I have ab silicone on my hand, I am afraid that the grease left after the glue dries will leak into the circuit board. Please reply when you are free! Thanks!!

    • @VintageDigitalWatches
      @VintageDigitalWatches  Год назад

      The silicone I used does't leave grease resodue...and honestly I don't think sanitary silicone would either.

      I did not use silicone to fix it at last. I connected the rubber rod directly to the button and then fastened the keyboard, but the rubber cut a little too long. After fixing the panel, it was easy to press the switch automatically. Unfortunately, I can't send pictures here, otherwise I can share them with you.

    Hi! I see that in a lot of your videos you work with watches that have a lot of oxidation. Taking into account that probable this corrosion comes from the mercury battery, do you think that inhale the polish partícules can be bad for your health?

    • @VintageDigitalWatches
      @VintageDigitalWatches  3 года назад

      I don't think it is in a signifficant quantity that it may be dangerous.

    I feel like this watch was a great bold idea whose time had not yet come. I mean, who is going to use a stylus for calculations when you can just carry a pocket calculator? Casio, however perfected the idea and made it more viable--the CA-53 was far superior to the C439.

    • @VintageDigitalWatches
      @VintageDigitalWatches  3 года назад

      Yes, Casio even had an advert that ni matter your size, your fingers will be able to use the tiny keys.

    Super nice fix bro 👍👍👍
    Also i have two questions, if you dont mind.
    Its that an irreversible fix right?
    And, do you know where i can find Casio circlips for buttons?
    Thanks in advance

    • @VintageDigitalWatches
      @VintageDigitalWatches  3 года назад +1

      Hi Victor, the fix is permanent. There is a store in UK, Cousins, that sell these, alternatively you can get some old broken Casio and get it from that.
