Hello, I have enjoyed your Punta Cana videos. I am going there for my first time in two weeks. Can you please tell me about tipping etiquette? How much do you typically tip at the end of a meal, or when served a drink on the beach, housekeeping, guides on excursions, bartenders, etc.?
I'm glad you've been enjoying the videos! As I was preparing to travel, I was told to bring lots of low amount bills, like 1s and 5s for tipping. I tend to be a generous tipper, even back in the states. So, if someone brought me a drink on the beach, I'd usually give them 2 or 3 dollars. I don't think I've ever tipped 1 dollar, but I'm sure that would be acceptable. I've noticed that often, I would be the only one tipping. When my friends ordered drinks or food, they often accepted it without giving a tip, and there didn't seem to be any awkwardness, or expectation for a tip. Actually, I usually have to call the servers back to give them tips. And even the boat instructor in this video, I told him to wait until I got my stuff so that I could give him a tip. So maybe I just love to tip :D So my tipping guide would be 2 or 3 dollars for drinks and food, 5 dollars for excursions, and I tipped $20 for the guy who gave me a massage (since the massage was $170), and I also left $20 in my room for housekeeping when I checked out. I hope that helps! I know you you'll love your trip!
Yes, I just watched another videos of you on the sailboat. Great video loved your instructor, He asked all of the right questions. Yes, why is it that you don't have a boyfriend? SMH.
