As a lesbian, I have always connected that 'otherness' feeling about Elphaba. This story with both girls has been so special for so many years in my heart.I know seeing them on the big screen is going to have me in tears, just as the same as the Theatre.
Queer is a slur. By definition, it is not a kind word and not all of us like it or want to reclaim it. Don’t forget it is a slur and is still used as one to this day. Don’t expect every other gay person to like it too. Be mindful of that.
Have you ever seen Judy Garland in interviews. They have nothinh on Judy in the touching/ feeling empathy department. But then musical/ theater folks tend to be that way overall.
every interview i watch makes me jsut more and more excited for this movie. ariana has been my comfort ever since i was little, this collab was my first introduction to cynthia and honestly i fell in love with her and felt so much warmth and goodness from her i just know this movie is going to be my comfort movie forever
@@needymaryy tired of people like you saying things like that when people say something genuine and true, it's not being disrespectful to say the truth, in fact it's being a good person to question what doesn't look healthy
I actually was coming to say the same thing not only her, Ariana looks extra skinny as well. I wonder if they lost weight after the movie due to stress. I don’t know, but I hope both are okay.
I think its pretty obvious shes straight she just has a lot of queer friends.None of her relationship are a secret since she is famous lol so if she did date a girl we would know.
Oh please! We are not ‚speacial‘ we are not unique and you don’t have to over act. As far as this gay person goes, I don’t want special treatment or pity from you. I don’t want anybody to think I’m special or beautiful simply because I’m gay. Enough with the fake tolerance.
I get what you’re saying. I also understand why she would want to make such a point of how beautiful people in the community can be, at a time when people are being portrayed as inappropriate, harmful and predatory for just existing as themselves. I think picking apart imperfect advocacy and love towards the community just feels a bit misplaced and “fake tolerance” feels a bit of a stretch when they are part of the community themselves. The language they’re using also seems consistent with how they talk about people in general, gay or not. They seem like emotional, over the top people in general.
I disagree that this movie has anything to do with being gay or queer. It’s a story about individual people, two women who become friends and fall in love with the same man. This inclusion of queerness is off putting because it is not genuine.
I agree with you but also disagree. For those who read and are fans of the book like myself, there’s a moment in there where Glinda and elphaba kiss when elphaba chooses not to go back to shiz with Glinda (defying gravity moment). So I do agree in the sense that there has always been hints and moments of lgbt dropped throughout
They kissed and shared a bed in the book. End of story. The author also acknowledged their dynamics can be interpreted as bi. The musical toned things down (haven't seen the movie but it probably will too) to appeal to a wider audience. Doesn't mean the subtext isn't there in the source material.
I think its more the "otherness" us gays can feel sometimes. It has nothing to do with "we are making it gay!", at the end of the day Oz has always had queer tendencies. I mean hell it basically had what would be considered ine of the first trans charaters in a book. As it turns out, you dint have to be "put off" by something you cannot relate to. You simply say "I am not the intended audience here" and move on. *shrugs*
i think it's also important to recognize that wicked is also a HUGE part of gay culture in modern day. i mean there are many pieces of art and musicians that have become so integral to gay culture without ever directly having to do with queerness. i think this interview was totally appropriate. also considering cynthia is queer and obviously has her own special connection with her character and feeling "other" as many queer people do.
Sorry but am I the only one who finds the way they do their interviews a bit weird or off? I mean it is beautiful that they support each other. But they are promoting something, they are not pouring their souls out. The film is amazing, but not that deep.. I don't know, like the holding of the hands while talking about quite normal things. I just don't get it. Can someone explain this to me?
It screams fake to me. And as far as Cynthia goes with her ‚you’re special‘ bs. No I’m not special, I don’t want special treatment, I don’t want this ‚rainbow‘ hypocrisy. I’m gay yes but that doesn’t make me special. Our so called community is the most toxic one there is so why Ariana feels the need to lie somobviously I can’t understand. But when you realize these two are getting money out of these nterviews you start to understand.
Seeing this video made me think about the fact that it bothers me that they never adress the MANY lesbian and bissexual Wicked fans who ship Elphaba and Glinda as a couple. I've never heard they (or any actress who's played Elphaba or Glinda) talk about the queer subtext that's built inside their very relationship. As a lesbian who ships Gelphie romantically, it hurts me. But thank you for this video. I guess it's the closest Gelphie will ever get to the queer community.
What? Ariana claiming the queer community being the best loving community? In what bubble is she living in? They are trying way too hard to pander to ‚us‘. This nterview just screams fake all over it, it’s sad because the over acting is killing what could’ve been sincere and beautiful. These two are actresses doing these interviews for money btw.

Is her health ok ?
Ariana said “GAY!” And I died
Ariana will mary gay. One day’s dazzling ever.
I love the reclaiming of being Queer! It’s such a feeling and kind word I love being a queer person
Queer is a slur. By definition, it is not a kind word and not all of us like it or want to reclaim it. Don’t forget it is a slur and is still used as one to this day. Don’t expect every other gay person to like it too. Be mindful of that.
this might be the first interview where they didnt cry lol
So excited for this movie

Relate to as many audiences as you can. Say what pleases them. Be what relates to them. That's promotion. Thats showbiz.
Aww!! Adorable interviews..🎈🏳️🌈☯️
They look scary I’m sorry 😮
insanely skinny and Idk why we're all supposed to pretend it's normal or healthy or empowered, I was sick af when I looked like Ari
@@sicidamara7061I feel concerned for young girls who look up to them and want to look like them

why is Cynthia so skinny so suddenly
They look extra emaciated next to each other for sure

Eughhh. Those two are so insufferable.
Empathy? Where was your empathy with Lily Jay Ariana?
they were divorced r u slow
I feel like people someties forget that Ari is bi.
I honestly didn't know but love that for her 🩷💜💙
I had no idea
She’s really not
no she’s not lol

Always hated that too. Just treat us as people. That’s also why I don’t really state my sexuality. It’s not a big deal and not all of who I am.

They’re weirdos and are acting so desperate.
i feel the same way it all feels so forced and it's just too much. there is something insincere about how hard they are trying to seem sincere
