The Benefits of Apps for Good Courses to Multi-Academy Trusts

Lorraine Hughes, Deputy CEO of Chiltern Learning Trust discusses the benefits and value that Apps for Good courses have brought to the schools within the Trust.
Over the past decade, we have collaborated closely with Chiltern Learning Trust, and we are proud that all 16 of the Trust's schools offer our 'Innovate for Climate Change' course to their students. CCADIS was a way to bring this family of schools together and an opportunity for the students to showcase their brilliant app ideas to industry volunteers.
Our courses are provided at no cost to schools and are written to be accessible to everyone, including non-computing teachers. They come fully equipped with resources mapped to the UK computing curriculums.
Independent learning is at the heart of our courses. Students will develop essential and digital skills by working in pairs and teams to create prototype apps for communities they care about. We also connect students with industry volunteers to provide 'real-world' feedback.
