Agreed re: the man in the center. Normally the women in any dance group hold my attention but in this ad, the man in the center has so much charisma and dance power that he is the only one I notice.
Kevin Stae. He's toured with Madonna, walked runway for CK, Tommy, Coultier, and was in "Naked Boys Singing" if you want to see...ahem...More of him :-P
why can't gap make commecials like this anymore? I like this because it's not about some celebrity or some product but it's just about high energy and cool dancing.
the gap commercials were fab. including this one. the orange/ fire red head girl (normally blonde) is lisa thompson, who was a Fly Girl for the last couple of seasons on ILC. she was my fave, lol. sorry j lo and carrie ann ;)
I could watch this over and over again... does anybody have the GapKids commercial set to the Jingle Bells remix?? I miss that one and am desperately trying to find it!
THANK YOU!!! ♥THANK YOU!!! ♥THANK YOU!!! ♥THANK YOU!!! ♥THANK YOU!!! ♥THANK YOU!!! ♥THANK YOU!!! ♥THANK YOU!!! ♥THANK YOU!!! ♥THANK YOU!!! ♥THANK YOU!!! ♥THANK YOU!!! ♥THANK YOU!!! ♥THANK YOU!!! ♥THANK YOU!!! ♥THANK YOU!!! ♥ I have been wanting to know the name of this song since the commercial. Cheers for Posting it!
The adorable guy in the center at the beginning is Kevin Stea, He was one of Madonna's infamous 'Blond Ambition' Vogue dancers, as well as the choreography assistant and dance team captain on that tour. He was also in the Robin Williams version of 'Birdcage.' Crazy how he's been popping up routinely in my favorite things over the last 30 years, and I didn't even realize who he was until the 'Truth or Dare' documentary came out recently.
If Coca-Cola can bring back Surge cola, and Pepsi is on the fence about bringing back friggin' Crystal Pepsi (no kidding), then the Gap could and should be doing some new commercials like these again.
noone had hd VCR s so it will forever be in shitty quality lol untill we just remake it with new young people ...this is like someone seeing kaki swing ad success and saying "ok people like the 20s dance and so lets do one for another decades dance, 60s works "
This kind of choreography was all the rage in the 60's and not ripped off any one particular individual. Those that think Fosse originated it need their heads examined!
@GenXJeff35 uuuhh, actually it is Fosse's choreography. They're doing the dance steps from 'The Rich Man's Frug' in Sweet Charity which he choreographed.
Do bad the gap doesn't make commercials like this anymore. Now they rely on celebrities and telling us what is cool, insteaad of showing us what's cool.
I love how there commercials are from SOOOOO long ago, yet we're still searching for & watching them
Agreed re: the man in the center. Normally the women in any dance group hold my attention but in this ad, the man in the center has so much charisma and dance power that he is the only one I notice.
As a Bob Fosse & Sweet Charity lover, this ad was divine
My favourite Gap commercial EVER!
Kevin Stae. He's toured with Madonna, walked runway for CK, Tommy, Coultier, and was in "Naked Boys Singing" if you want to see...ahem...More of him :-P
This was my fave of the Gap campaign.
HIGHLY successful campaign at that.
Brilliantly choreographed by the inimitable Alan Johnson; a long time collaborator with Mel Brooks, and re-stager for Jerome Robbins West Side Story.
GAP had such great commercials.
Best. Commercial. Ever.
(I can't believe this was 11 years ago! I'm getting old.)
11 years ago, your comment was born. Already 22 years in total, my friend. Time flies. See ya in another 11.
I work for GAP and dunno why we no longer advertise on tv in the UK. This ad was top!
Best commercials ever
why can't gap make commecials like this anymore? I like this because it's not about some celebrity or some product but it's just about high energy and cool dancing.
I remember this commercial...this was my favorite gap ad out of all of them...this one along with the one that had the "Dress you up in my love" song
One of the best. So good.
the gap commercials were fab. including this one. the orange/ fire red head girl (normally blonde) is lisa thompson, who was a Fly Girl for the last couple of seasons on ILC. she was my fave, lol. sorry j lo and carrie ann ;)
Funny thing is that Kevin is also in the Austin Powers movie doing about the same dance moves during the opening credits...
i love the man in the center
i love gap commercials
I love that video!
I could watch this over and over again... does anybody have the GapKids commercial set to the Jingle Bells remix?? I miss that one and am desperately trying to find it!

Me encanta Gap 😎 🎺🎹🎷🎵🎶. Tha gaol agam air an ionnsramaid ciuil. Este es mi anuncio de hueco favorito tambien.
if youre talking about the guy in the middle its kevin stea-he was in newsies! LOVE him. hes in a show called naked boys singing right now.... :)
The adorable guy in the center at the beginning is Kevin Stea, He was one of Madonna's infamous 'Blond Ambition' Vogue dancers, as well as the choreography assistant and dance team captain on that tour. Wasn’t he also in Austin Powers Goldmember?
Cool as hell.
If Coca-Cola can bring back Surge cola, and Pepsi is on the fence about bringing back friggin' Crystal Pepsi (no kidding), then the Gap could and should be doing some new commercials like these again.
GOOD COMMERCIAL !!!
love that organ!...very much like the organ playing in the opening credits of Maude
DAMN i loved this commercial....exxcellentt
It's called Blow Up. Go-Go by James Clarke
I need this in HD
+toychristopher We * need * this badly in HD.
noone had hd VCR s so it will forever be in shitty quality lol untill we just remake it with new young people ...this is like someone seeing kaki swing ad success and saying "ok people like the 20s dance and so lets do one for another decades dance, 60s works "
it's amusing to read numerous other comments that I wasn't the only one to immediately recognize the dance moves from "Sweet Charity".
He really is, and cute too! :P
This kind of choreography was all the rage in the 60's and not ripped off any one particular individual. Those that think Fosse originated it need their heads examined!
When I was young you couldn't tell me that being a Gap dancer wasn't a full time job and that I wasn't going to be one when I grew up.
the ad is great - so many snobs on youtube - if the gap were smart (which they're not) they'd still be running this spot - def. their best.
that looks like so much fun
@GenXJeff35 uuuhh, actually it is Fosse's choreography. They're doing the dance steps from 'The Rich Man's Frug' in Sweet Charity which he choreographed.
Ah the '90s...when you could put on a plain black t-shirt and khakis and call it a day.
for real bro ...miss the simplicity of those days
It'll make a comeback. Fashion always repeats itself.
Gosh, I miss the Gap when it was the best!
What is the name of the dancer in the center at the beginning with the curly hair? He's really good!!
This wasn't choreographed by Toni Basil, it was done by Marguerite Dericks who did the Austin Powers movies.
I love it.. it's so "Rich Man's Frug" from Sweet Charity.
I need to go outside right now and do this. There better be some people willing to dance with me.
If you like this then look up the dance sequence in Sweet Charity for a 10 minute long epic version.
Man this is some super-funky shit...
You know this is how our parents used to dance, right?
When selling retail apparel was fun to watch
I want to learn to go go dance like this
My favorite also.
well the one in the middle is definitely kevin stea...it's for sure.
he's ssssssssssssmokin'
I remember......it doesn't matter where I was...but when I hear the music....I rush to the T.V...just to see the dance..
i looove thiss
Diane Mizota is in this!!!
Whoops you already know that, you can get it at Blow Up records on compilation. Check out Alan Hawkshaw of the same era and sound.
Funky tune
The things you do in 30 seconds.
looool, hilarious. Yet, so true! why should we be sad when we leave Planet Earth?!!!
those are sooo the dancers from austin powers 3!!!
Do bad the gap doesn't make commercials like this anymore. Now they rely on celebrities and telling us what is cool, insteaad of showing us what's cool.
who is Kevin Stea? is he the guy in the first part...looks Asian?
GOOD !
hahahaha it looks like they recreated fosse's rich man's frug lol. kinda cool
im sure there was another one that used this music
Kevin Stea!
It's almost Stewie Griffin's "Sexy Party" choreography, and I love that! If onnly it was Bob Fosse!
@glenohio BRILLIANT
This music is from Sweet Charity?
Your's may be the funniest comment I heard on youtube yet.
This dancing reminds me of Fosse.
I just realized that I didn't move for five mins and 30 seconds
@PrettiNikkiRIghtLEft let's do it!
I know I'll probably get slammed by Fosse fans, but personally I much prefer this performance to the "Rich Man's Frug".
It's supposed to advertise khakis...their tops don't matter
very "Fosse"
Then watch a Victoria. Secrets commercial
Ironic that you can spell ayn rand with those two lines.
@auroragingerkitty I disagree. this type of dancing was all over the place in the 60s. it wasnt invented by the oh so overrated Fosse.
Westside Story, Mellow yellow, and dress you up are all better than this one
#stopkhakis2k14
Yeah go go dancing doesn't look as good in Khakis as it does in mod wear!
