I prepared for IIT-JEE in 2011-2013. I mentally gave up in 2012, and ofc never got into IITs. At the end of my 11 standard, I went from being a school topper to being completely hopeless and depressed. In admist of all this, I discovered that I enjoyed learning physics, so I went on to do a BSc. Physics from Amity University in Noida, after keeping my pride aside and fighting an year long depression. Perhaps the best decision of my life, not to waste another year in the rat race and save my life bcz I was becoming suicidal with the existential crisis I had. In 2016, I graduated from Amity as second of my class and got into NIT Srinagar for my MSc. Physics after qualifying IIT-JAM. I learned more in Amity than at NIT. Neverthless, no one knew how to teach properly. No one had any happiness when teaching and talking about physics. My true inspiration came from RUclips where I watched American Professors. In 2018, I took a gap year, worked hard and took GREs, and came to the US to do my MS in Teaching, because I realized how fucked up our education system is, private or government it is all about the next rat race, and I wanted to fix it by being a teacher. I am almost done with my MS, I had assitantship for the whole 3 years, the University of Maine paid for my tuition, and I got a monthly stipend of 1700$. In fact, I even saved and bought my first car last year. Professors here have completely changed the way I understood Math and Physics, and how to teach it. I have been very happy, and I look forward to becoming a Math and Physics teacher, and then want to do my education based global non-profit startup. I am extremely happy that I didn't make it to IITs, that I followed my love for physics and then for teaching, and studied what I liked and found my own personal way to make it big, rather than becoming an engineer. My Physics teacher at Aakash Institute in Delhi used to say, "there is more to life than IITs," and he was absolutely right. I hope if you are reading this, you write your own journey and become what you truly value personally rather than finding your worth in a tag. If you will use a brand to validate your self-worth, you will never feel satisfied and always keep running. IIT, IIM, UPSC, all of these exams do so much harm to our talented pool of youngsters, who could very well go and do so much with their lives, but our dumb society and its ego games are making them sick and depressed. Please, take it easy, find what you really enjoy doing and work hard for it just for the sake of it. Learning is a rewarding process in itself. Study for excellence not success, what you have learned in these years, no can take from you. And if you ever need a real Jeetu bhaia to talk to, who actually knows how to navigate life after you don't make it to IITs, shoot me an email at anupamraj0701@gmail.com I wrote this long ass comment bcz I wish the younger me had the older me as an example.
Also, I made a video about my own story here : ruclips.net/video/aDkI-0jFilA/видео.html

@@ANUPAM337 it totally does! My brother went through similar a situation, for his undergraduate he didn't got into IIT, unfortunately my family wasn't that supportive and was highly disappointed In him, he did his btech in mechanical engineering from a decent State college and worked for an year, now here comes the twist, he quit his job, and started preparing for GATE, my family again wasn't happy with his decision but he proved himself and got into IIT Bombay mtech energy science engineering program
I am quite young then my brother, hence we weren't that close but when I got to know he got into IIT Bombay I was truly happy! And I asked him since I always wondered even after not getting into IIT for his undergraduate and after facing all the disappointments from our parents wasn't he ever depressed?
He gave me a warm smile and replied with:- I won't lie saying I didn't cried, when I quit my job, I relied on my savings and parents money for the GATE coaching, I wasn't able to get a decent rank to get into IIT on my First attempt! And our parents again was a bit disappointed, but I didn't lost hope! And here I am:) I don't regret not getting into the IITs for my undergraduate, since even if I would I would have maybe ran for the rat race for an job in the IT sector or an MBA, which totally isn't meant for me!
I am gald i joined a simple college, since it gave me enough time to explore my interests and I finally found out that my actual interest lies in the teaching sector! I am curious to study more about hydrogen! And that's where my Interest truly lies! He is currently pursuing his PHD specializing in hydrogen energy
From UC Berkeley with a Full scholarship!
And believe me he has no regrets in his life! He loves what he is doing
Although he got into IIT for his mtech still he told me realising what you are made for and pursuing it is the best feeling ever, yes getting into a top institute may serve as an cherry on top but honestly if you love your filed you can shine anywhere! We shouldn't let ourselves down by others words! My dad Never hoped anything from my brother, and often saw him as a failure, but now the same dad calls him everyday, and whenever we talk about him, he proudly raises his head with a Bright smile on his face!
I wish you and my brother both loads of success ✨👑✨

I joined fiitjee, and now I am literally regretting 😭😭, I got full scholarship and my parents and I thought it was grt at that time...but now I got to know that many gets that...and honestly with icse board in school and cbse over there, it's literallyy difficult to manage...like it's really fast...u don't enjoy learning like that...huge syllabus in less time...it just ends ur good experience as a teen in before 10...and now I found that for jee prep, there a bunch of amazing courses on internet... it's much muchhh less expensive than even the least fees u have to pay even if u get full scholarship...it would be better if I just learnt from internet during 11 &12
Edit: After some months I realised, it's best to get the best done out of any situation...so, as I already joint fiitjee, it's better if I focus on what's going on, and try to learn them...afterall it will make me improve in maths and science...in class 9, we are taught many things of 11...like not all in depth obviously, but a basic introduction of many things are given...so I think that will be great in understanding school stuffs better, and as well, putting in the efforts now, will greatly help me in my 11th & 12th...and wherever you study, it's important to follow that teacher's guide and books that teacher recommends...to say, you need a really good teacher for that sub, then it's better you take your time in finding a good teacher, and then follow his/her's teachings...rather than following too many teacher's online as well offline (many of us join coaching as well take tuitions...rather one teacher is better)... fortunately at fiitjee all the teachers we got till now teaches really well and are highly qualified... there are amazing teachers both online and offline...but follow one...and if you start a book, do it completely to get the best out of it...all books are good and you can get the best out of it, only when you study and solve it completely... and afterall all the best for any of your upcoming exams...and thanks for reading it till the end💜

@sourav choudhary I'd like to clear your misconception about BITS
      1. My brother is in NITK(2nd best NIT) and my friend in BITS
      2. NITs have 50% state reservation and 50% quota reservation, so the quality of students drops
3.If you think Goa and Hyd are bad and pilani is better, let me tell you the CSE placements at Hyd exceeded Pilani's in 2019 by a small margin and Goa compus has more GSoC selections than Top IITs
      4. All the faculties, companies(for placements) ,students, extrance exam policies, are same for all 3 campuses
      5. Students graduating from all 3 campuses get the exact same name i.e "BITS Pilani" on their degrees
      6. The placement opportunity in all top colleges are equivalent so you shouldn't compare
      7. For overall development, BITS is slightly above top NITs provided you don't have a financial crunch

Just did normal school work but always had a curious mind and tried puzzles, reading fiction etc. on a routine basis. JEE was a little harder than school, nevertheless got in. Most of my class mates at IIT, I think, did similar preparation. It is so sad to see JEE has become such a racket.

For eg bill gates scored very very well in SAT exam...
Many billionaires r from top universities like harvards...
Their engineering degree helps them in a great way to become entrepreneur...
If they had decided to become entrepreneur nd not getting into top colleges they might get that but the chances r exponentially low...
That is y big colleges r imp for becominf great entrepreneurs...we need investors to start our own company...nd their degree matters...

I think most students get attracted to IIT's is due to the big salaries and not about what they like to do. I mean we should focus on which career will be the most suitable for me rather than just only focusing on money. I mean they target us at a young age when we don't really know what we like we haven't had any experience about different fields and what are they like and people take advantage of it.
