    For those condemning Billy Graham, I think it is important to remember that most of the generals who have gone before us may not have had the information we have today. Now we have a better opportunity to learn from their remarkable impact and also mistakes through the many platforms and channels available

    My mother was in the kitchen and my dad came in my room about 11:00 PM, woke me up when I was 10 years old and said "I'm leaving". I thought he was going to work because he had odd hours as a railroad engineer and I said "Ok, I love you and I'll see you when you come back". He said "No, I'm leaving". He did wait until my brother came home from a date. It was right before Christmas. He had a mistress waiting across town to drive to another city where he was working at and never came back. There are stories throughout the years, and I even tried to talk to him about this night, but was shut down. We did get to talk for many hours because he developed bone cancer and passed 4 years ago. When he passed though, I strangely had an emotional peace about the abandonment from that night and the following years, because I knew it could never be fixed and I let it go through God's help. I think I was trying all my life to "fix it" and there was no more reason to try to do that with him. I did have my Grandfather, that was an AMAZING man. My dad did find the Lord Jesus throughout the years, so I know he will have eternal life. I have forgiven him and I find a lot of peace from that. If I could tell my 10 year old self anything, I would tell myself not to define your life through anyone else but Christ. He will direct you and will never leave you nor forsake you.

      Yes it is so hard to grow up with out that support of a father. My dad came back as an angel to save my child and grandchildren from a fire. My grandson told me later my dad had visited him in their new home. He said Papa told me he would always be with me. I said Jacob what does that mean then he said. He said i was a peacemaker. My dad would be his guardian angel. He also told him he wished he had stayed with my mother and my family. Divorce is never easy. He came back from the grave to apologize for leaving. Love your parents for we all make mistakes. None are perfect we are all born with a flaw.

    I can understand. But, I usually went with Daddy everywhere he went for a long time. But there were MANY times being a PK left me and my needs unnoticed, more because my Mother shielded Daddy from us kids over several years when he was too busy to slow down and recognize while he built a church building and ministered to others, his own kids were so in need for a Father and a Pastor. Those wounds have impacted us in m9re ways than we could have ever imagined.
    I dearly love my parents, and the time for picking at scars is passed. Daddy has been promoted to Papa, and though many people call him that, I know I was his first child and tell him so occasion, just to keep the record straight.

    I love that I have a purpose in God. When we discover our relationship is with God then all our decisions are a reflection of what he is teaching us. We have family and I know that when we put things into perspective we can understand how it goes when every situation presents itself. Never think you bow down to anything dsyfunctional but you must give it the grace it so needs. So dont make it worse by doing the same badness over and over. Change or atleast leave it until the time is right. Patience and being good are just a few valuable tools we have it make it the best it can be.

    Parents FIRST ministry is their family. Thats the ministry to lead, disciple and train and that is love, attention to children. Their is a time for everything, one just needs to learn how to administer their time before God. When we recgonize that our family IS OUR FIRST MINISTRY , and we do it for God, that Glorfiys Him.

  • @Moving_Forward247
    @Moving_Forward247 4 года назад

    Wow I truly appreciate her honesty. I think it can be really difficult to be honest with others as a Christian because we are trying to honor our parents, our spouses, not gossip etc. we should definitely treat people with respect, but we need to be honest about our pain. Yes, when parents fail to practically love their kids it creates a deep soul wound in them. It can be forgiven and the relationship can be restored if broken. But often there is very real pain for the child (looking for love in the wrong places, workaholism to feel secure). This is a very important topic-we need to strengthen the family rather than fostering childhood wounds that require more Christian ministry/counseling. A lot of soul wounds can be prevented.

    Evangelists are actually to equip the body and they do the work of the ministry. Billy Graham had to fill a void at a time. If we all evangelized where we are and more people were equipped, then many wouldn’t have to go as far and not as long. The focus needs to be on equipping for evangelists as the Bible says. 5 fold given to equip the saints to do the work of the ministry. Ephesians 5. We still need to go.

    She said that sometimes 'pastors put ministry above family and it's "acceptable", but it's not'. If we're living according to God's Word, as we should, and one is called by God, as her father was, then why is it not acceptable. There is life beyond life here on earth. It's called eternity. There are eternal purposes for God to call some to do as Billy Graham did. I can't imagine the gospel spreading so quickly as it did if the Apostles had not put their ministry first. They each died for their dedication to it. We must learn to live for God's higher purpose, even if this present life may prove to be difficult. For her to say that, it seems she still doesn't get that.
    Jesus said in Luke 14:26-27: "Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused. And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come. So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper. And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them, If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple."

    • @blackbarnfarm
      @blackbarnfarm 4 года назад

      @@heavenking5503 I think I understand what you mean by "cater for", but I'm not sure. I will say this, though, I know of a particular married couple, who have adopted 2 young boys, and just celebrated 35 years of ministry. He is one of the most godly men I've ever met, and his wife is so supportive and, when she can, goes with him in the ministry. They mostly do street ministry, passing out tracts and telling the gospel all over the country. They started and continue ministries in Africa and other countries, which he travels to, as well as to Israel. Their marriage is strong, and united in purpose. I believe with one heart for serving the Lord, it is most certainly possible for a marriage and for the children to be beautiful examples of how we are to live out our faith.

    • @heavenking5503
      @heavenking5503 4 года назад +1

      @@blackbarnfarm Thanks for the reply.. I believe as the Scriptures say that God is not the author of confusion..1Cor 14:33.. and since He's the author of marriage, we really shouldn't prohibit it.. 1Timothy 4:3, also He has said in His Word we should go preach the gospel.. Mark 16: 15-16, if we would wait on Him, not necessarily in fastings, but waiting more on His Word, He'll reveal the right way to go in ministry. I know many books have been written on this topic but it still seems like a mirage because each marriage has its own peculiarity. The LORD grant us more understanding, Amen!

    This is considered CEN Childhood Emotional Neglect. It can happen even with a parent or both parents in the home. My mother was home but she was very negligent emotionally and physically. Also psychologically abusive. Some parents are negligent of their children because they never saw a healthy relationship. We heal when we forgive and stop blaming, it does not mean they did not have a responsibility to their children or before God as a parent. That is something they must deal with God about.

    Your father reached millions and millions for Jesus Christ. God abandoned His one and only Son for the world. For you and me. That’s why Jesus said, unless you can carry my cross come and follow me. Why do we question especially knowing your father offered and promise to go where God wants him to go? You’re stopping the gospel to be preached? Is it you? Or the he who is in this world behind you?

    • @lornadoone8887
      @lornadoone8887 4 года назад

      JustnLisa You are in delusion. Jesus was never abandoned by the Father! Read the whole Psalm (22) Jesus references in His words from the Cross. It is a prophecy of God’s approval of the Son in every way and acceptance of His Self-offering. Calvinist “Penal Substitution” theory perverts the gospel to this day and it has infected the whole of Evangelicalism from the very beginning. As a result of its perverse vision of “God” in His “wrath”, thousands despair of the love of such a “God” and become atheists. So sad because Jesus is our perfect picture of the Father, and He taught us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. He prayed for the forgiveness of those who crucified Him from the Cross after having taught that He uttered not a word except that which the Father gave Him to say. Christ is the Savior of the world and He never needed Billy Graham to accomplish this.

    I understand the emotion of these feelings, but I also recognize that these feelings affect the parent as well. One of my biggest regrets, as a father, is that it was very hard working long hours to meet all their preceivedneeds. Looking back I wish I would have spent more time with them. I justified my action, by telling myself, at least I made it possible for their mom to stay home. Thankfully my daughters hold no hard feelings. I just have to forgive myself. My final word to all soon to be or currently parents, make every effort to put God first, then your family. It is so hard in this country to do the right thing in our materialistic society and culture that puts families last. Perhaps we need a paradigm shift to occur in our false reality of what is truly important in life.

      Gina, what you're saying is accurate.
      However, please listen again to her testimony. She said forgiving God was not theologically correct.
      She mentions forgiving God, because she is being transparent, to what she felt a need to do.
      Truly, many people are bound up in unforgiveness and need to have a revelation, that they also, need to forgive God.
      It is when we choose to forgive Him, (if need be) that we then mature to the place you speak of, and HE gets all the glory for growing us up. HE already knows what is in our heart and what needs cleansing by the Holy blood ❣.
      ABBA FATHER, natures His Children with mercy, and He understands why His Child takes the road they take. HE forgives if we REPENT with a sincere 💝.

    My wife, born and raised in South East Asia, and her family became close friends with a missionary from New Zealand. A kind and Godly man.
    Long after we got married and settled in Australia, my wife made contact with the gentleman, kept in touch, and we eventually met him on a couple of occasions.
    On the final visit, not long before he died, we thought that his adult children would give him a glowing reference.
    They spoke of the burden of their mother, raising kids in a country town on her own for weeks at a time. Time after time.
    My wife and I were really taken by surprise by the deep hurt within the family.
