Watch Ukrainian Drones OBLITERATE a Russian Plane

  • Published on Feb 11, 2026
  • As the sun rises over Crimea on September 21, 2025, Ukrainian Beaver drones attempt to break through layers of Russian air defenses. The strike begins with TOR-M2 launchers engaging decoys, only to find themselves outmaneuvered by low-flying drones exploiting radar gaps. A BUK-M3 battery near Nova Kakhovka takes its shot, forcing the operators to weave between industrial obstacles and confuse radar tracking. South of the Dnipro, the surviving drones enter the domain of the S-400 system, where speed filters and deconfliction rules create unexpected opportunities. Finally, the chase reaches Kacha Air Base, where a hastily deployed Pantsir-S1 makes a last stand against the incoming wave. In this breakdown, we follow each phase of the mission, system by system, to show how timing, terrain, and tactical improvisation shaped the outcome of a high-stakes contest between drones and some of the most advanced air defense systems in the world.

    Radar doesn’t track heat signatures. It tracks radar reflections from objects. IRST tracks heat signatures. Get it right folks!

    • @im1who84u
      @im1who84u Month ago +2

      Just an F.Y.I. for everyone.
      This comment is correct by stating that radar tracks reflections not heat.
      RA = Radio
      D = Detection
      A = And
      R = Ranging
      It says nothing about heat.
      Note:
      Radio is also an acronym.
      R = Remote
      A = Audio
      D = Discrete
      I = Integrated
      O = Oscillations

    • @AndrewJOliver
      @AndrewJOliver Month ago +1

      @im1who84u. The word radio is derived from the Latin word radius, meaning "spoke of a wheel, beam of light, ray." It was first applied to communications in 1881 when, at the suggestion of French scientist Ernest Mercadier, Alexander Graham Bell adopted radiophone (meaning "radiated sound") as an alternate name for his photophone optical transmission system.
      Radio is not and never was an acronym

    One thing this report shows is the importance of having intelligence on how The Enemy's equipment works and the training their crews have. In the case of Ukraine, it's almost like a civil war with the Ukrainians knowing first hand what the equipment is, how it works and how the crews use it. They are willing to innovate and have access to new and different tech. The Russians, generally follow doctrine, with their ability to innovate limited by their equipment and old tech.

    The S400 ignoring drones under 100km/h because of a 2007 hardcode is mind-blowing. Does anyone know if that's a common flaw in older radar systems?

    • @Patte104
      @Patte104 Month ago

      It's just bullshit. The radar 96L6E for example classifies targets into four modes: aircraft, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), and missiles. The appropriate mode is selected based on the type of engagement. The system is capable of engaging helicopters even in hovering, so there is obviously no limit to the minimum engagement speed. However, there are minimum engagement distances based on the target's speed and height. For the sake of completeness, the AS400 system provides a ballistic launch mode where no radar lock on the target is required but only trajectory data. This is obviously very imprecise because the missile relies only on the gyroscopic system to maintain its trajectory. At the moment, it seems that the Russians are developing a terminal guidance system (probably coupling the gyroscope to a GLONASS satellite system) to obtain low-cost guided surface-to-surface missiles by upgrading the missiles they already possess.

    Like so many previous comments, I too am quite used to seeing much shorter videos, of the damage done. However, I am glad I took the time to view this one, knowing it was 20 plus minutes, instead of 2.
    THANK YOU, I had no idea how involved it is to make a successful incursion, and to how many layers of defense there are. I will now view the short clips with far more appreciation.

  • @HunterChristianDarkman

      @IainMcClatchie Month ago +2

      I don't think the Beavers can keep up. The transport was going the same direction, probably at higher altitude, and the Beavers just benefitted from an accidentally overlap in their course and the transport.

    This breakdown really shows how modern warfare is becoming a systems problem, not just a weapons problem. The drones didn’t win by brute force-they won by exploiting seams: software filters, engagement limits, terrain masking, and human reaction time. That’s the scary part.
    Air defenses didn’t “fail” here-they were out-thought by cheaper, slower systems designed to slip through the cracks.
    If this is the future, then layered defenses alone aren’t enough anymore. Adaptability and rapid counter-learning matter just as much as missiles and radar.

  • @waynep343

    Battery capacity (range) does decrease by about 30% at freezing temps. However running the heater is an ADDITIONAL drain on the battery!

      Good point. I wonder if they keep batteries warm before launching. Once they are flying they probably stay warm on their own??

    They need to add a few more drones to each mission to take out the mobile radar vehicles. It's harder to defend yourself and attack the rest of your squadron at the same time.

      Send Ukraine some money, get your friends to donate too, and they’ll be able to afford more drones!!

      Leaving the mobile radar alone could be giving Ukraine an advantage. Those are forcing the Russians to waste very expensive rockets on cheap drones. Ukraine should have a good idea of how many of those are available to shoot off. The radar crews might be getting in trouble over attacking decoys so get redeployed to hot zones where drones do destroy mobile radar units and eliminate their highly trained crews.

      Yeah I agree..
      The Air Defense Operators need to have only good reasons to abandon their command centers for being made certain they are always going to be a prioritized target.
