Thanks for the video, would request to pls elaborate more on 1.5 Sigma shift (why 1.5 and no other number and how does this impact the long-term Sigma ) thanks
Very nice informative video. Is mentioned all the parameters are being implemented only in mfg industry or any other ?? Mfg means which sector FMCG, PHARMA, FOOD ??
Sigma shift is upto 1.5 it could be any value upto 1.5 for easy calculations we use 1.5 however you can watch out the result of minitab for continuous data there you will find out its any value upto 1.5
If one product can fail in 3 different ways then opportunity per unit becomes 3. For example a fountain pen is manufactured and three quality parameters are color of pen, length of pen and thickness of pen. Then the pen manufactured could be a defect if any one of the three opportunities fail. Opportunity per unit is 3 in this case.
Mohit the video talks about mathematical calculation. A LSS Project works on a CTQ. If the CTQ is Sales, Defect is < 100 and Opportunity is a Day... how will this work? Can a project have more than one Unit? If yes, is the given example; what is a Unit and how can 2 Units work. If 2 Units can be worked, will this be a Green Belt, Black Belt or Master Black Belt Project??
If less than 100 sale is a defect and you have 10 days where sale is then 100 out of 90 days then your defects are 10 and total opportunity is 90 and you put them in the formula. It would be NORMSINV(1-(10/90))+1.5
To answer your second question Ideal condition is when 1 project has one unit means one goal statement however if 2 goal statements are non separable then you can have 2 goal statements.not more than 2 goal statements in one project. The project could be a BB or above. You should also calculate sep sigma Values as you may want to check individual performance of the units. I hope this answers...
in your example you have day as a unit. if team sells less than 100 products then it is a defect. so your unit which is a day in this case is a defect. As I told you earlier in ideal scenario one project should work on one unit ( goal).
@@mohitsharma34 In my given example CTQ is Sales. Baseline Data is 3 months (90 Days), Defect is < 100. Mohit, as per your information: Unit - 1 which is Day Opportunity - 3 (3 Months) and not 90 Days Defect < 100 Then what is Sales (CTQ). Is this Unit, Opp or Defect. This is a simple example for which I am hunting for an answer.
If you add 1.5 in the formula, it shows short term process capability. If you remove 1.5 from the formula, you get long term process capability. Since this formula is for short term, 1,5 is used. Hope this explains
@mbb mohit sharma Hi Mohit, I am still awaiting for your answer. My Question is very very simple. My CTQ is Sales Baseline data is 3 months (90 Days) with a Sales achievement of 80 on an average Target is 100 In this case of a Project wherein you need to improve the CTQ of Sales from 80 to 100, What is Unit, Opportunity and Defect. In your video you have given an example of 500 Units. What is this all about?????? Please answer !!

You went straight to the point and information is very clear. Great video.
Thanks 😊
Great...Thank you sir,,for explaining such topics in a very simple ways... Big Thank You!!!
Thanks 🙏
Thank you! Helped me get a grasp of how to do these formulas.
I am glad that my video helped you
Once again a great video...fast, crisp, informative and easy to understand...
Dilshad Khan thanks 😊
Good one. Loved d blooper too 👍🏻😁😁
Priaz Beauty Zone hehehehe Thanks 🙏
Great video 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks :)
You are awesome. Thank you
Cassandra Turner 🙏
well explained as always👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks 🙏
Thanks for the video, would request to pls elaborate more on 1.5 Sigma shift (why 1.5 and no other number and how does this impact the long-term Sigma ) thanks
What ever is reported is short term sigma and it is observed that in long term sigma shift could be up to 1.5. Hence it is added in the formula
Thanks Sir for quick refresher...
jatinab you’re welcome !!
So helpful video. would be great if you show how to calculate sigma from DPMO by using scientific calculater rather than excel.
excellent Mohit
Thanks 🙏
what are the opportunities??
The no of ways in which you can make mistakes
Thanks it is very clear
You are welcome

Its applicable to all industries
Wonderful !!
Thanks 🙏
Very informative

Question. I'm new to Six Sigma. How did you get the Opportunities per Unit?
opportunities per unit (5) x Number of Units (500)= 5X500=2500
Let's say in one unit there's 5 check items. Hence there are 5 opportunities
Well explained sir, can you please tell how to get 3.4 dpmo at six Sigma level in formula?
.804+√(29.37)-2.221*log(dpmo)
@@S-u-p-a please explain
Use the same formula. =Normsinv(1-(D/O))+1.5. In this formula put D=3.4 and O= 1000000, you shall get 6 as answer
Very Good Mr.Sharma, can you add DPO also
A. Bhaskara Rao thanks ! I will talk about dpo soon.
How to calculate opportunity per unit?
How many opportunities to make a defect in one unit
Sir, please can you tell me why 1.5 sigma shift is used?
Why not other values ?
Please guide me.

Hi Sir, there is a lot of confusion around Cp and Cpk, Pp and Ppk, Zst and Zlt..are they same. Plz guide
Alka They are not the same . I will make Videos to explain them better
I dont understand what makes a defect..trying to find defects from a histogram what qualifies as a defect?
Sir! Why are we adding 1.5 sigma in calculation, wherease we suposed to deduct 1.5 sigma to calculate real capability (lonh term)

Sir please explain the difference between DPPM and PPM
DPPM- Defective Parts Per Million and PPM- Parts Per Million. Both are used for defectives. Both are same. Just like DPMO is used for defects
