nothing wrong with that, limited space hence the steep angle, i would have maybe fastened another strap before re seating the bed. but still, what went wrong?

Just checked out "north east recovery" the posters of this clip. It seems they like to make videos of other people to discredit them. I always find that when the only way somebody can try to make themselves look good is by trying make others look bad it's a sure sign they've not got much else to offer.

For your information this video was done solely for a website, Had it of been a genuine recovery all 4 wheels would have been strapped....

I can't see what the problem is personally. Perfectly fine moving the deck with a single strap.

Nothing wrong with that , in gear/park hand brake on, one wheel strapped and then lifted , as long as all other 3 wheels are strapped before moving. Always use 4 straps!

Looking at when he drove the car on then put into park if i'am assuming it's automatic... We where taught not to put into park... Leave in neutral..apply the hand break... Leave key ignition partly leave window open.. Just in case it self locks on the back of the truck... Driving a car on & off is not a safe recovery operation.. It's just laziness... And bad practice 😢

it all depends how much experience this guy has, a lot of company's do this, I do this myself, the video ended so we didn't see if all straps were put on, I don't see anything wrong as long as he wasn't a newbie which it didn't look like

Very dangerous... He loaded the car and walked towards the boot... What if the car hand brake failed... What he should have done is when he jumped out of the car he should have strapped the front wheel on the driver's side instead of walking back of the car to strap the passenger side

Towing eye with secondary restraint should be used with winch in first instance failing that a set of brothers, and of course a full set of straps.

You NEVER winch if it is avoidable. If the car CAN be driven onto the recovery vehicle .. you drive it on because the recovery operator is behind the wheel, and in full control of the casualty at all times. It is NOT good practise to winch on the car suspension UNLESS YOU HAVE NO ALTERNATIVE. Modern car suspension is NOT DESIGNED to take winching forces.... that is why a tow eye is provided. Setting up tow eyes and secondary restraints is great theory ....if you have the time and a safe enough position to work in. On a motorway hard shoulder ....or (most dangerous of all) an A road without hard shoulder ... every second at the scene means you ARE IN DANGER. You learn to minimise risk...always MINIMISE risk. But then I've only been in the 24 hour recovery business for 30 years ... so I wouldn't pretend to know as much as somebody who has been on a three day training course .......!!!!!!!

@@nigelwhite6285 I'm sorry but pretty much everything you just wrote is complete and utter bolloks . Pulling a rolling vehicle by the lower wishbone actually puts very little strain on the components . There is no way you can say that driving a vehicle on to a bed is safer than winching it on . Especially on a motorway. That's just ludicrous. When you turn up to a vehicle , you have no idea of the history or any mechanical damage . I have seen cars driven of the side of the bed , driven in to the winch block and pretty much anything else that could go wrong . Driving cars on is completely unnecessary and is a risk to you and other road users . That's why the real professionals will always use the winch with a secondary restraint .

@@liamcosgrave5410 You are going to get yourself hurt John.
In the real 24 hour recovery job there is no room for "we always do this" … or "we always do that" . Every job must be done as quickly and as SAFELY as possible. The experienced operator will factor in ALL circumstances. Final decisions are ALWAYS a compromise. You come over as a little "know it all" who has been on a three day trainingcourse in a nice dry well lit car park. I have been doing the job for thirty one years. I am the real deal. You are a 9 to 5 "wannabe". I wouldn.t trust you out to recover a pedal car in a play school. John … you know so little that you don't even know how little you know.

@@nigelwhite6285 you sound like an idiot . Typical of an operator in the "24 hour recovery " industry. I have been an IVR instructor for 3 years and have worked in the industry for the last 10 . I stand by what I said in my last comment . I do agree with a lot of your points about minimising risk but then you suggest things that completely contradict what you said . There are so many ways we can minimise risk before you even start the recovery . Like police or highways agency assistance . I'm sure after 30 years you will be able to make sound judgements based on your experience , but if you comment on a you tube video stating your opinion as fact, don't be surprised when someone pulls you up on it . Stay safe out there
