      @@jenndflash Go to Koreatown - I'm not sure what's open anymore, thanks to the pandemic. I think The Face Shop, Besfren, and Nature Republic are still there, but just wandering around and enjoying should be worth it - and if the wine bar/BBQ restaurant is still there? They were still great the last time I was there (which again, pre-pandemic). I think they were called Dons Bogam.
      The TonyMoly in Koreatown closed; the space was taken over by Kosette - I haven't been inside but the layout looks almost identical, and I've heard they have a great selection.
      There is still a TonyMoly in Tribeca, down on Canal Street. I do still think it's worth going to - it's not far (well, note: I'm from California, NOTHING is far in Manhattan), and for reasons I don't entirely understand, they sell a few other brands besides themselves, including CosRX. If you head down there, oo35mm is apparently a great place to pick up Asian sunscreens like Biore Japan.
      One thing to remember: as great as the deals may be, it's still going to be cheaper to order from YesStyle (or a few other online shops). But you get the ability to see things in person, swatch makeup, etc, if you go into the stores, and that plus IMMEDIATE makes up the cost difference for me.

    She went from spending 36 dollar to 50 on products she doesn’t need. While it may seem like a really good deal. I worked retail ( a life time ago) long enough to know that it’s not. The products are worth far less than they are priced. They also use tactics like making stuff with less quantity expensive vs stuff with quantities that no one could ever possibly use up seem cheap. It’s like Walmart and Pain Meds. The Name Brand cost a lot for 24 pills while Walmart Brand has like 200 pills in two bottles that are the same price. It is the clerks job to upsell the other products using “promotions” to make the consumer to think they are saving money. But in reality, they want you to spend more than you originally planned.

      The “Name brand VS House brand” thing is depends on the country. It’s might be true in Walmart case. But in some countries (especially the poorer ones), the cheaper House brands are actually worse. It’s genuinely you get what you pay for situation. I guess depends on customers behavior, they are more price sensitive.

      Yup. I was an Esthetician at a Franchised Spa. They wanted us to upsell while doing a facial which was so tacky and against the whole ethos of providing a relaxing treatment. Then they want you to sell products at the end of the service which they teach you to do in school as part of your income and to encourage better skincare for the clients. So a client books a service, pays for it, tips because that's customary here in the US and then may or may not be upsold during a facial or treatment, and encouraged to buy product at the end of the service and re book for a later date. It's never just cut and dry one fee. That's with majority of the beauty service industry. That's part of their job to make money and make as much as possible off you.

      I know this is beside the point but it's mad you can get pain Meds in so many in a bottle. In the UK you can only ever buy 2 small packs of pills unless specifically prescribed by a Dr. It's to stop people overdosing. Sure, they could go to multiple shops but hopefully that added time is enough to save a life 🤷‍♀️. You couldn't just go into a local shop and get 200 painkillers in one go!

    Otherwise, you're better off ignoring these kind of promotions. They're obviously designed to make you spend more money, but if you don't have the extra money, you can end up broke with a bunch of things you don't need. To be fair, as the 10 pack of face masks was $36, with the discount she only paid $14 more than she originally intended yet she got a tonne of stuff. If she can afford the extra & it's items she's going to use it's not really a scam as such?

    • @shinyagami8843
      @shinyagami8843 Год назад +4

      How exactly was she scammed?
      The 20 masks alone were 36$
      With just an extra cost of 14$ she got 100 masks instead & all of the other stuff.
      The realization that math isn’t your thing…

    I saw this when I went there back in 2016. They even give away entire sets of hand creams and skincare. If you’re using their products and are planning to use them for a longer time it’s a great deal. Because those things costs 50% more to sometimes more than double back home.

    lmao this is why my family doesnt let me go to the mall and other such places alone... I once ended up trapped in a salon for like over an hour because this guy was trying to sell me all these skin products.... I had to meet my sister and cousin and they were like three stores down at the food court waiting. Eventually I got away, but they were like, about to pull a rescue operation to break me out, I was stuck.
    Man really knew how to side-step my polite attempts to leave. :|
