I think this block is used in wrong situations if you watch the games every week. They keepers do the block to fare away from the goalline, so the striker have to much space to curle or run around past the keeper.
Plz look at Neymars goal in the WC against croatia. And we have Ajax vs Napoli in CL. And thats because the coach dont do what a striker do, they shot straight at the keeper. That will never happen in a game, as a striker you go around or pass the ball
