I've tried all these clubs and ZX7 is the standout for players cavity irons. Cobra comes in second. The others are really a different category. Ping i230s are a club short in distance.
Being an i210 player, I would have the P770 as a direct competitor to the i230 whereas the P7MC, at least in my hands, is for a slightly better, more consistent, player than the other 2 which have a surprising amount of forgiveness. In the test the P770s were remarkably consistent. If anything the test confirmed my suspicion, the i230 is a little lower spinning club than the i210s and I am not convinced it is better than the i210s.
@@justinstephenson9360 I don't think i230 is inherently BETTER , I think PING learned more engineering tactics and made i230 maybe smidge more stable with toe weight and long irons are more compact due to TOUR players request.
@@justinstephenson9360The Cobra King Tour seems to be very similar to the i200 and i210 in my opinion. I'm slowly getting around to wanting a replacement for my i200s and I'm not sure I can get past the looks of the i230 even though I love the i line from Ping. The King Tour just seems very aesthetically pleasing and also has the elastomer insert. Although, I believe the offset is slightly less.
P7MC is a single piece forged head with nothing added. Even the Srixon has tungsten added. It might as well be considered a blade. Doesn't belong in this comparison at all
Was lucky enough to come across a demo set of i230 in my exact spec. Couldn't believe how easy they are to hit. Thanks for another great video, kevin is awesome to watch.
In my second year playing golf, I ditched the tour edge bazooka 470s for a set of i230s, 4-u and a glide 54 and 58 degree wedges. No hybrids, as I find the 4i to be much more reliable. The look going from basic cavity clubs is wild, and I can't get over how great the i230s feel; they are pretty easy to hit(19HCP). I also tried the i525s and the 430s(which I did not like at all). The 525s were also very chunky. mid handicap players should not be intimidated by this genre of club, as they are more forgiving than one might think. Great video guys!
I purchased the Ping i230’s this year. Played the Ping i3 Blades for 20+ years before trying the Ping i525’s last year. Did not like or need a distance iron, my mistake. They came into greens way too hot. The i230’s are amazing, exact same distance as my i3 Blades with more spin and better shot shaping.
Tested all these irons earlier this year went I went in for a fitting. Cobra hands down winner for me. Best feeling iron that I've ever hit that is not a blade.
Srixon went in my bag and I can’t believe the spin I get. I was worried with the reviews but i literally get 1 yrd of roll out with a 6 iron from 190. Its wild and completely different from my Apex Pros. Best feeling club out of all of them.
I have played with Z785s and am currently changing from T100s to ZX7/ZX Forged II combos. I've found if you hit a cut or tend to hit it high then it stops fine. If you hit a draw and launch it lower you won't get the spin you need to stop it as well as some other models.
@@jacobmccain8082 I also play the combo set with the ZX5's in the 4-5 iron. I only hit draws and still no issue stopping. Even when I catch it a groove low it still stops. I play pro V1 ball.
Urgent Question . About to purchase in South Africa would need to order. I’m an 11 handicap . 82mph swing speed 7iron . 160yard carry 5200 spin . Looking at ZX5 vs i230. What would be pick and why ? Many thanks 🙏
Dang it I just can’t get away from my Ping Eye2’s. Nothing out there is anything close. My lofts are weak but otherwise they fly the ball perfectly straight.
I have tried about ten different sets this year, ended up with getting fitted for Ping i525 and i230. Now I'm waiting for them to get delivered. Them being i230. Felt they were more like the old irons I remember, which I have missed. I hope to be a happy i230 user for the forecoming 10 years?
I'm super happy with my i230s. I've had them for a couple months and really have come into them. I'm back in my second year playing after a 25+ year hiatus.
I don't know why I watch these videos. 🙂 You can start at 20:13 mark and ignore the rest. As they say - get fit, hit them all... Kevin clearly doesn't like/prefer Mizuno's whereas other sites fawn all over them. The Kevin's picks section should be completely eliminated. Show the numbers (for him) and encourage viewers to try for themselves to determine which work best for them.
Well, as long as you understand that this isn't a club test or a club review, but more of a 'Kevin fitting session', the format works better and it's all good. If you really want to see how clubs compare you need the robotic tests like the ones from Coolclubs here on RUclips. They use a robot to hit two patterns (one is wider like a typical golfer would hit all over the club face, and one is more centered around the sweet spot) with 6 different spots each on the club face and see what differences the actual clubs offer-unbiased. There you will see what a low heel hit at 80 mph really looks like with various clubs with no opinionated... "explanations". Needless to say, that kind of information/data is only good if you really want to know what's what. Not everyone does. If your group of friends really like a praise brand X it can be tough to see that it's actually middle of the road.
Thanks for watching! I can understand P770 for sure given the materials and the way its built. i230, however, is much closer to players cavity. It's the successor to the i210, which was one of the most consistent players irons available for the last several years.
Ya It doesn’t belong in this category, I think this is the one category TM lacks in, sure the p7mc is a cavity back but my opinion it’s a really low digit handicap iron where these were a little less demanding
I've tried all these clubs and ZX7 is the standout for players cavity irons. Cobra comes in second. The others are really a different category. Ping i230s are a club short in distance.
The p770s shouldnt be considered the the players cavity category, the p7MC's should be.
Yeah, I’m confused as to why they wouldn’t have put the P7MC’s in this instead as well. Confusing

It's what I went with; amazing irons for me.
People think they are shorter than the others, but they have more traditional lofts than the others. With power spec, ping easily matches distance
That glare tho! Seems like a very heavenly video with that shine from behind
Great video. Kevin, you are swinging it really good buddy! I enjoy your videos. I game the zx7 mkii irons. Really good irons!!!

Tried many of these and they’re all pretty great. Can’t wait to see you guys hit the new titleist irons. They look beautiful.
It's worth noting that the Cobra is in his bag - of course it's going to be the choice. A less bias player would make for a better test.
Great review. Are you testing with standard or stiff shafts?

Would've loved to see a Titleist option in this test.
not alot of use as the new Titleist irons will be out in a couple months
@@tomashmore4128 I'm sure they will be nothing like the previous and 100 yards longer!!!
@@jetro7349 ofcourse the new one is always miles better hahaha
It may be just me, but did you not have a different shaft in the Cobra? It looked like a $-Taper label.
King Tour is impressive given it's a one-piece and not a hollow body..same loft as Srixon etc..
Did we factor in shafts in all of this?
When do you expect the apex line to be released?
Should have had cobra tour cb, p7mc and the jpx 923 tour instead of their brands respective irons chosen on this video
Dang it I just can’t get away from my Ping Eye2’s. Nothing out there is anything close. My lofts are weak but otherwise they fly the ball perfectly straight.
When is the new 2023 Callaway Apex coming ? Release date? @secondswinggolf
by seeing your chart, king tour has best dispersion and best distance
Love the video but clean the camera lens
