    He didn't ruin the league, the league ruins itself thinking they can force decent and elite shooters to shoot like Steph. He is on a different level. He is literally the best shooter I've ever seen and It might be a Jordan situation where we might never see another guy like that again.

      The game became the PBA (Pansy Basketball Association) in the late 90s. The rules all changed, the NBA wanted more scoring, and even looking at a player with the ball the wrong way became a foul. LeFlop didn't help it at all, either.

    The problem is so many others trying to use a game-breaking strategy that he's capable of implementing but that they don't have the skills to replicate, leading to the most boring basketball in history. If players played their own strengths while developing new strategies to specifically mitigate Curry's game, we'd have a better game emerge.

    That feeling of knowing a shot is just right. No hope involved just knowing. That happened to me one day on the playground when I was 13. Every ball I put up just went in without effort. It was like something clicked. Then after about 20 to 25 back to back, the feeling was gone.

    • @pappaflammyboi5799
      @pappaflammyboi5799 8 months ago +11

      I know the feeling. I experienced it in a pickup game in high school. It didn't matter where I shot from. It just went in.
      I felt it and saw it like I had the ball on a string to the hoop. I think I hit probably 20 in a row. It lasted about a week for me and then not even close after that.

      @jbggaming7725 I'm not saying that he necessarily is. What I meant was, if Curry was so good he broke the game. That's level on its own ,but again that's not the case.
      Not to mention one of the unfortunate truths of Curry is that he clearly plays on Adderall. Ever wonder why he vigorously chews on his mouthpiece. It's rather obvious. Sad but true.

    • @ElvisPerez-t8t
      @ElvisPerez-t8t 8 months ago +8

      @tonylegz5692Bro i Hate how These People Intentionally Leave out the Part Where Stephen Curry Has ELITE OFF BALL MOVEMENT Too.
      He Be Trying to Get Open like a Soccer Player of some sort. And His PlayMaking is at a whole different level.
      He's so good at these things that To him Shooting a 3 at that point becomes a Very Effective High Percentage Shot Since he knows Where to Place himself and All these Other Angles at that Level.

    • @Jo-zq8vt
      @Jo-zq8vt 8 months ago +6

      Another MJ will be impossible. The closest we got is Kobe; after that no one up to this date. As for Curry, there's someone definitely out there especially if all they do is train shooting, heck everyone in today's era can be a shooter because of how influential he is.

    • @cycleoflife565
      @cycleoflife565 8 months ago +31

      @Jo-zq8vt Curry is more than just a shooter. So to say he can be replicated by someone that focuses their training on their shooting doesn’t result in the second coming of Curry. Curry has a handle, an elite finishing package, a mid range game and he is a playmaker. Plus he puts in the work on defense.

    • @Jo-zq8vt
      @Jo-zq8vt 8 months ago

      @cycleoflife565he's above average for sure, the only real deal that's special is his shooting that's why I emphasize on that, every other skill set can be trained and with regards to the "playmaker" nah.. he's not that great. Definitely a scorer but not a playmaker.

    • @iluvdissheet
      @iluvdissheet 8 months ago +13

      @Jo-zq8vt I get your point but it gonna be a LONG time before anyone breaks his records. Most players cant even keep up with Steph's workouts. Its not about just shooting, the man runs for 48 minutes every game. His conditioning is unreal.

    With Steph it boils down to 2 things: 1. Emotion - the hotter he gets the more comfortable he is. He's just having fun. You can see his body language when he's having an off night vs when he's shooting the lights out. 2. Momentum - once Steph hits a few shots during the game it gives him more and more confidence to hit harder shots.

    Saying Steph ruined the game is a real "this game was better when slow fat dudes could smoke between innings and win championships" argument. The 3 point line was set so that it was a high risk high reward attempt. Steph is really just the first player who fully optimized that equation.
    Also, call me crazy, but watching long range snipes is so much more fun than some lumbering giant back into the post for the 50th time tonight.

    • @D-swhy
      @D-swhy 8 months ago +6

      Sure, but more fun is hell nah, dunks and post moves are way more fun.

    • @Star_void69420
      @Star_void69420 8 months ago +8

      @D-swhy A good post game with good footwork or brute force was great to watch (i.e. Hakeem, Karl Malone, and young Shaq). Back to the basket type players (like Barkley before he caused a rule change) eating up 15 seconds of the shot clock was not.
      I grew up watching 90's basketball and I'm a Jazz fan. I love today's pick & role game with ball movement and off ball screens. I actually like the way the game is now played from the outside to post instead of post to outside but absolutely hate teams with no versatility that live or die by the 3 and can't adjust their game.

    • @deepriv3r

      There's a lot of threee's in today's game, who revolutionized it? Steph!!!!

    • @FrontLineBuster
      @FrontLineBuster 8 months ago +9

      What's so dumb about this too is even one of his opponents points it out during the video, when you have a sniper like Curry on your team that requires constant guarding it frees up space inside the post for other members of his team, it's a catch 22 that essentially forces the other team into a bad situation whenever he has possession or is in a dangerous area to receive the ball and shoot. It's not like teams should be only focusing on three pointers because if they did they would be missing out on this massive advantage that comes with having that threat constantly lurking.

    I really enjoy how Stephon Curry shoots the three, it's entertaining and exciting to watch. 💯 Like Lebron said, "...no lead is safe." and that's part of the magic of the 3 point shot. Whats not entertaining is to see teams that haven't put in the behind scenes work to develop the skill of shooting the 3 ball jack up endless 3s and miss a high % of them, that's for sure. Players like Steph and Klay can actually hit a high % of their 3s and make the 3 ball a serious weapon. Teams that can't do that shouldn't shoot a lot of 3s. 💯

    Curry is the all time goat because he is the greatest team player of all time meaning he makes his whole team better. Barring Kobe, if you switch either lebron, magic, jordan, etc. with curry on any non durant warriors team, they would not see the success that he did. He would also probably do an equal if not greater job if you put curry on any other goat candidates all time team

    The problem with today's NBA basketball is that nobody is up to the level of excellent defense that the 1990s star players had... If Steph Curry went up against the all star players of the 1990s, he wouldn't be scoring so many jumper points... 90s all stars would force him to move inside the basket through traffic, since the NBA was extremely physical back then... Things would have been different Steph Curry going up against people like Michael Jordan, Gary Payton, Dikembe Mutumbo, Shaq, Joe Dumars, etc.

    • @beyondlost660
      @beyondlost660 8 months ago +12

      He is the one player that gets the most physically abused in the NBA. So many uncalled fouls, with teams double teaming him everywhere, tugging and pushing him, etc. If there was one NBA player who probably gets it the worst on defence in today's NBA, it;s Curry. People just love to hate on the guy at this point. Allen Iverson survived the most defensive era of basketball, while averaging 30. Curry could definitely do the same. Teams then are not prepared for the sheer stupidity that Curry has to offer. Guarding him isn't as simple as you make it out to be.

    • @AmericanBlueCollarWorker
      @AmericanBlueCollarWorker 8 months ago +2

      @beyondlost660 If people are not good at guarding Stephen Curry today, its because they are not the 1990s all stars if you ever watched the old games regularly to compare the weak defense of today in the NBA... Almost nobody was really guarding Curry (tightly white on rice) in all the shots he made in this video. The truth isn't hating... You are the one that is calling old school all stars NBA players indirectly stupid saying they wouldn't be able to handle Curry... The defense in the NBA today sucks and its not just against Steph Curry... Its overall...

    • @AmericanBlueCollarWorker
      @AmericanBlueCollarWorker 8 months ago +1

      @Dremac5 If the refs would call a foul for guarding someone tightly, then today's NBA basketball is the one that sucks. You said "they sucked." So Michael Jordan sucked? He was also one of best defensive players back in the 1990s...

    • @AmericanBlueCollarWorker
      @AmericanBlueCollarWorker 8 months ago +2

      I agree with you 100%... Me and you are one of the few people posting here that noticed this... Steph Curry wouldn't be scoring so much if 1990s all star players were going up against him. I bet some would be doing a full court press on Steph Curry (sticking him like white on rice) and would steal the ball away from him even before Curry got to half court (Mid 1990s Gary Payton would do this to players a lot back then).

    • @TranceFat
      @TranceFat 8 months ago

      I don’t know what you saw but he makes ridiculous shots when double/triple teamed, fouled, shoved to the ground, etc. Are you kidding me? Players today actually are faster too. You talk about better defense except the issue is that back then you can get away with more, including the as-of-then legal hand-check. If you took any of those players back then and had them play in today’s NBA, a lot of them would struggle to keep up and/or foul out immediately.
      Also: Not saying Steph wouldn’t have his own challenges playing in the 1990s but he is a master at adapting. Also the way he moves without the ball is unparalleled. No one moved like that back then, so you need to give credit where it’s due and recognize that it is not as “easy” as you think it may be to conclude that he would not be amazing in the 90s.

    • @AmericanBlueCollarWorker
      @AmericanBlueCollarWorker 8 months ago +1

      @TranceFat Not, its the other way around... Star players today would struggle making shots when guarded by star players from the 90s...
      All NBA players today don't have the same defense as the 90s where man to man was a thing, unlike today... If people are triple teaming someone like Steph Curry and still can't stop him, then todays defense sucks compare to single players stopping people like Michael Jordan (aka the NBA GOAT).

    • @TranceFat
      @TranceFat 8 months ago +1

      @AmericanBlueCollarWorkerStill disagree with you and I’ve watched NBA basketball since 1985. Consistently.
      Your thinking is flawed in one fundamental way: You assume that MJ was still guardable (this is subjective). Many have tried and many have failed. MJ was never consistently shut down by a single player (not Payton, not Gerald Wilkins aka “The Jordan Stopper”, not even the entire Bad Boy Pistons team - eventually Jordan still got the best of them). Jordan just found a way to score but he also had massive struggles at times. Just because he is the GOAT doesn’t therefore mean that players in the 1990s were better defenders because they “occasionally” got the upper hand. What a flawed line of thinking.
      Steph often times eludes double/triple teams but there also many nights where a single player will shut him down. But it also doesn’t happen consistently either. But just because he does outplay double/triple teams doesn’t mean that these defenders are all weak (and weaker than those in the 1990s). Again, your argument is weak as it extrapolates a bit too much.
      The parsimonious explanation is better - that is, Steph is an amazing shooter, and one big reason he is amazing is because he needs only the slimmest of margins to get up a shot that otherwise would be shitty when done by others. When you have even the all-time greats (including MJ!) conclude that Steph is the greatest shooter of all time, you know this shit is real.
      No one would dispute Kareem had the best skyhook shot ever. So why do it with Steph’s 3?
      (At this point I would like to find some advanced analytics that show the effectiveness of Steph’s 3s that incorporates degree of difficulty and defensive presence - I bet if it exists it would show that he is otherworldly.)

    • @hunterhenryk
      @hunterhenryk 8 months ago +1

      Watch some actual games. Steph Curry is the most defended player in basketball. Steph Curry has mastered the ability to shoot 3s off the dribble, which was previously unheard of. Shooting 3s outside of spot-up catch-and-shoot was considered a bad shot, and, for almost everyone else, still is.
      BTW, you guys have revisionist memories of those old eras. Zone defenses were outlawed, unlike today. Other than the original dream teams which showed dramatic deltas in talent levels, when NBA players went up against zones in FIBA play after the talent deltas started to level off, they always had a hard time. Fast break teams were such a novelty, they'd give them a nickname ("Showtime"). The early Kerr Warriors were not only fast and ran whenever possible, they'd shoot 3s on you on the break. Hardly anybody shot 3s back then, so David Stern had to move the 3pt line CLOSER to the basket to incentivize 3pt shooting because he felt the paint was too crowded which was why it was more physical. A guy like Steph Curry would have broken that game easy. Free throws were abundant and careers could live off them, unlike today where refs are told to hold off on whistles to keep games moving for television. Steph Curry is fouled like crazy but not called now, whereas he would have killed it at the free throw line back then. By the way, he's a career over 90% free throw shooter. Steph Curry is still the only player to record a 50-40-90 season (50+% field goal %, 40+% 3pt field goal %, 90+% free throw %) while scoring over 30pts/game in NBA history. That spells "unguardable," no matter the era. Just the thought that the game of professional basketball has become a LESS skilled sport over time, instead of a MORE skilled sport and with a WIDER global talent pool to stock teams with, is just CRAZY. The average talent per NBA team is much greater today than it was back then. You should be asking if those old era guys could still play as well in today's era.
