Check out my 2013 S550 Review here: ruclips.net/video/NMEQKnN65CQ/видео.html Previous gen didn't hold up as well as this car. This W222 Chassis S class has been quite the car, one of the most stand out experiences I have had. If you have experience with this car, please leave your thoughts in the comments below. Also, please follow me on Instagram and Twitter @exhaustsports or you may become a Patreon member for updates. Thank you again for watching and stopping by. Take care

It’s a model year ‘14 S-Class or newer not a ‘13. The delay your experiencing with throttle inputs isn’t turbo lag it’s a designed feature of larger engined Mercedes. If you want all the power you have to stab the throttle to the overdrive button. Try to get your hands on a ‘12-‘16 E550. It has that same twin turbo motor but in a smaller more driver focused package, 402 hp 448 bhp. Such a sleeper!

    • @MeynMotorGroup

you probably wouldn’t believe, but the guy who told me that was actually “connected”. He used to run one of the largest privately owned mortgage lending groups in New Jersey. His vehicle lineup was ridiculous. Silver g55 amg, two toned black:Himalayan red maybach 62s, flying spur, 911 turbo, artic White s600, matching land cruisers was just what I saw...Right before the financial crisis of ‘07 happened one of his offices got raided by the feds but he was tipped off and all the computers and docs where removed from the building the night before..

Mercedes are reliable if properly taken care of like any car. Cars that were this highly engineered and ahead of its time will be more expensive to maintain so people must not complain. But look after it and it'll go for years. Look, 150k miles and still driving like new. And that's a testament to their build quality, solidity and engineering. My dad has a 2005 C Class with 300,000kms and it drives like new. Interior looks immaculate. Paint is still excellent. That's quality products.

Great video. Thank you. I previously had a '96 S-320 short wheel base. I love that car. Had to get rid of it after a couple years since I was in a more 'rugged' type job. Knew I wanted another S-Class one day. I just bought a Palladium Silver 2015 S-550 20" rims / sport package and premium and driver assist package. It has the Ash Exclusive leather and silver wood. 46K miles, one owner from local Benz store. Sorry for the long description, but I saw this color combination and was just blown away. It is a beautiful car and rides so incredibly smooth. I was originally looking for a LS460, but couldn't find one in good shape. Glad I didn't. The interior of the Mercedes I think is much nicer. Certainly has a lot of tech and the driver and passenger seats are better than any massage chair you can buy for your house. I'm very excited to be back in an S-Class and especially the S-550. Mercedes did a great job with this car. Sure I could have bought a new car for $40K, but I can drive this beautiful, one-owner S and turn heads for the same price... I'll do this all day long. Yes. Recommend the warranty. I would love to see you do a video on great warranties to buy for a car like this. Some warranty companies are terrible. Again, great video. Thank you.

I just bought a 2015 too with 78k miles, let me know if you have any issues. Oh and remember the wiring harness issue! Oil has been known to get in their and short out components, keep an eye on that! Replace all the coolant lines too when you got some extra cash laying around. After you do those two, change the oil every 5k miles to protect the turbos and you should be in a pretty solid vehicle.

My old 2011 s550 had amg 20" rims which give it a harder ride, this is why I'm not treating myself to a brand new one. You had mention that you hope they don't change things for the worst. Well they did. The 20" rims not good. They turned it into a limo catering for the back passenger. I don't care about all that stuff for a back passenger. This just means there are going to be more unnecessary things to break. The 2018 s550 has the baddest head lights of all! You know when it's coming. With that said, I will be hunting the country for a 2018 s550 with 18" rims in immaculate condition certified under 30,000 miles. This high mile review was great to know because that amazing car is a keeper.

I bought my 2015 S550 in July 2014 and has 80,000 miles on it. I've replaced both batteries at about 50,000 miles. The rear brakes have screeched loudly whenever it goes in reverse since I bought the car and can be really loud in the wintertime.
But the overall maintenance has been minimal so far. I've got my fingers crossed since the dealership is an hour and a half away. It is a fine riding car although a rather expensive one.
Let me know if you have one and what to expect during the next 50,000 or so miles.

Switched my daily to a W222 from a 13 (facelift) LS460 shorty sport.
WOW. What a difference. I loved my LS460 and previous LS430….. but there is no comparison to my S Class. Reminds me of the W140 I used to ride around in as a child decades ago! The W222 makes a 3 hour ride feel like 20 minutes. You have to experience it.
I’ve owned an embarrassing number of cars- but as far as a daily goes…. This is hands down my favorite vault on wheels.
Mine is RWD-AMG Sport Package (Plus 1…. The enthusiasts know) with ABC-Magic Body Control suspension. Gives my E60.5 M5 a run for its money. And the torque 😍

Once it comes time for my next car the S-Class, 7-Series, and A8L will compete for my business. That I’m a current A6 owner won’t score Audi any brownie points in my decision. I will decide, very objectively, based on overall comfort, convenience (but not necessarily tech) features, space, reliability factors, and other objective factors. Most subjective factors (sans overall pleasure to drive), such as prestige, will have no bearing with my decision (after all, I’m buying for me, not for others). One of the big factors I will be considering - which one has an electronic interface that’s the least distracting. I look forward to this contest and subsequent acquisition!

The answer you gave me is that the car is growing old very well (as my CLS). I looked at the new generation S (2021). I will be polite here, i don’t like the interior and i think there’s WAY TO MUCH technology for it to be a good buy for the long term. The new body is OK but they need to bring back the fenders which in my opinion made the W221 special. The interior of the 2013 also needs to come back with all metal buttons and rectangular air vents. The little keypad for radio stations and phone calls need to return which is much easier to use while driving than the little mouse pad like feature newer ones now have; very distracting and dangerous to use while driving.

W222 S-class was the best S-class ever made, just going to say that right now. So elegant in terms of presence, perfect amounts of tech without being the most flashy, and just the overall look and experience is second to none. Even the current S-class, to me, doesn't match the elegance and amazingness that this S-class has. W222 S-class was like the pinnacle of S-class design, interior, and presence. Nothing even comes close to this one, it's perfection, and it's sad that the current one, while has a bold presence, you don't need to ask anyone which one looks better. If you want a more fun driving S-class, the S63 and S65 of this generation were perfection.

The previous gen s class you drive had the same engine and transmission and it actually had about 50 less horsepower. So while it was athletic it was not faster than the one in this video. The 4.7 v8 amd 7g tronic tranny were use from 2012 all the way to 2017. Then it was replaced by the 4.0 in the s560. And all the previous gen s classes (W221) aged beautifully if they weren’t ragged out by stupid drivers amd kids. I have a 2010 s550 that looks brand mew and everything works with no rattles or squeaks at almost 130,000 miles on it now. The S class that aged like garbage and us terrible build quality was the w220 from 2000 to 06. Such a terrible car to follow up the acclaimed and most dignified s class ever, the W140.

This S Class is one of my favourites as well. Great review. I am quite shocked to see how much different the new S Class for year 2020-21 is going to look. The exterior and interior is so disappointing. It is all becoming like tesla in terms of touch screen minimalistic look - there is nothing luxurious anymore - Mercedes have destroyed the S Class same as the way they destroyed the CLS the former two shaped models were interesting to look at and showed class and beauty - the new CLS is the ugliest car ever... This is so sad.

Nice video and great example of the full size luxury sedan standard. How does it compare to the G90 Ultimate?

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  4 года назад +8

Excellent question, I was an absolute idiot and forgot to talk about the G90. The G90 is as close to this as you're going to get. It is far superior to the Lexus LS and handles a bit better and handles better than this S class but not quite as well as a 7 series or XJ which is fine.
G90 is about as quiet as this S class and truly feels substantial on the road unlike the other large cars in this class that mask it size. Swear that the G90 is an incredible car.
Biggest problem with the G90, it has no swagger, no prestige, you feel like a nobody unlike the other cars in this segment where you feel empowered

Had & drove lexus LS and ES, volvo, audi a8, bmw 7 etc etc ... but nothing drives like s class. I have 2013 s class, then new model 2014 ordered and waited 6 mo for delivery [put 80k miles on it] then 2016 but having vibration issue which nashville mercedes dealer - of music city - were incompetent to fix it and very rude/elusive with customer service, they actually sold the car with this issue!! However last s class 2019 bought few months ago from chicago with 4.6 km miles on clock, one owner... The 2019 is truly what I like very much! I intended and have couple test drive with 2022 but no tks, not so practical and resting the arm in the the door cavity is very uncomfortable, just not the same as in the previous models. The 2019 560 4 matic ultra equipped model is something that pleases me, plus it has 18 inch rims, which compared to 20 inch rims, the wheels are much quieter and softer giving the maximum comfort not really that sporty feeling but I really don't care and I hope that I can drive 250-300k miles without serious problems. At the moment I'm thinking of making a pair with the lexus L 600....

As it goes, there's the S-Class then everything else. That said, I believe the W222 will be the pinnacle of the S-Class line. The W223 looks soooo generic, without the presence and grandiose stance of this car. Sure, the nee one will have tech galore, but there's a certain prestige a S-Class is expected to have. Tbe new one definitely looks like a bloated C-Class.
Fun fact: I heard you mention the Burmester sound syste. You would be blown away if this car had the $6400 3-D Burmester system. One of the best ever put into any car ever!
