It is definitely possible to do this technique on cotton. I would follow a mordanting process meant for cellulose fibers. I'll share a link to a blog post that talks about that. Usually cotton fibers dye lighter colors than wool, so the colors shown here would end up more pastel like, or muted on cotton. www.textileindie.com/how-make-natural-dyes-from-plants/
@@TextileIndie i did an experiment a couple years ago with violet syrup, and it made an electric teal tea when I brewed the botanicals, then I added the sugar and simmered it down all afternoon on low. i wanted to make that into a dye.
@@TextileIndie oh, I have seen, my requst is not there. My english is not so good and I tryed to translate with google. But copy and past don’t work 😂 I am looking for Viskose or Tencel yarn for hand dying buying in wholesale. My actual wholsale don‘t sell further. But I can not find any. Do you have an idea for me? I hope you can understand, what I mean. Best regards Andrea
I'd never heard of this before. Solar dying is so cool!
I totally agree, it is cool. I love seeing the colors that appear out of the jars, always a surprise.
Hi! Thanks for your great tutorial! I'd like to try this with some pink peonies. Do the petals need to be dried?
Hello, I haven't tried pink peonies specifically, but no you don't need to dry them first.
this is so cool! do you have any thoughts about how this would go with cotton?
