First time driving a two speed (DD2) kart!

- It was my first time driving anything faster than the L0206 I race. What a ride! It was slick out and the tires were very worn so I had to be really careful because I didn't want to hit something and damage their kart. I'm looking forward to getting into this thing again.
Hey! That was also the first DD2 I ever drove 😃🏁 That Sodi at DKC. Got hooked. Bought myself a CRG DD2 back in South Africa and started racing the regional and national championship the following year 😎 This clip brings back good memories from my first US visit

those little disc brakes are hella cute xD i want one
Those little brakes discs are a few hundred dollars
Those disk brakes create more stopping force than your cars does

It was cold that day and my first time driving a really fast kart so I had my hands full. I remember getting out of the kart and thinking, wow that kart is crazy fast. It was so much fun!
Speedo on the straights read over 70! Sounds like a blast. I really would like to get into this class.

0:34 Im sure your heart gone from 110 bpm to 200! That happened to me a lot of times, worse if you're not using your own kart

Is that a centrifugal clutch? Interesting setup. What classes is this DD2 designed for?
It doesn’t have a clutch it’s just an engine and a gearbox. The DD2 is it’s own class

Nice vid what do you think which has a lower maintanance cost rotax max or dd2?
Dd2 is much cheaper
DD2 costs more upfront but running and maintenance will be a lot less because there is less that can go wrong compared to the max
You deserve way more subs mate! How did you get the spedometer or whatever its called on the video? :) I'm recording with gopro hero 5 and i guess you record with hero 5 aswell? So just wondering if that is possible for me to use it aswell :)
Yes, I use a GoPro Hero 5 too. Our GoPro 5's record the data automatically but we have to go in prior to uploading and unlock it via their software called Quik. The software automatically comes up once I connect my GoPro to my computer. There are many tutorials on here that explain how to do it in detail. Hope that helps!

Thank you! Our LO206 season doesn't start for a while but there's a track league race in the rental karts next month I plan on doing. Hopefully they'll let me drive this shifter again.

The type of speed that makes you actually feel your body adjust and see your eyes focus farther. The first few times on open throttle all you can do is be a passenger really

Its what sparks and sets up another fellow racer to start their journey! How long did it take you to get used to the speed of your shifter and go from passanger to pushing for better laps?@@IllegalAlienRacing
@@12th.jahlil - From what I remember, it took me a few 10 minutes sessions to get a little more comfortable. I remember my first time out it felt like the track was coming at me faster than I could process it. For over a year every time I was on the way to the track I'd think, "Is this the day it's gonna get me?" Luckily nothing ever happened and I think mainly b/c I always tried to respect the kart and what it could do. Such a fun ride!
Man im getting hyped for my first kart! Ill be in lo206 starting out, i dont think ill get that sensation of being a passenger unless im crashing @@IllegalAlienRacing
@@12th.jahlil Yeah the sensation of acceleration won't be there but you can carry lots of speed in corners so that's always fun. I started in LO206 and think that's a great foundation to start from. Good luck!
What camera settings do you use?
My helmet camera is a Go Pro 5 and I use the Superview mode, I like it better than regular widescreen. The camera facing to the rear in other videos is a Go Pro 4 in regular widescreen mode. 60FPS.

Hey my kid has been karting eversince he was 4 on a rotax mini max and now he is 12 and is faster than most adults should i get him a dd2 cause hes been eyeing it for a long while
Hola, watching this 2 speed 2 stroke performing makes me wonder how bad ass an LO206 might be with a 2 speed tranny. Don't know how feasible this would be but would definitely spice up LO206 performance. Have you ever heard of anyone trying to make this work?
bruh, the l0206 has 9hp and the dd2 kart has 35. the LO206 is a slow ass kart, not gonna be faster with gears
This is a DD2 not a shifter. Shifter is a KZ. And KZ is a lot faster than DD2 on the straights. Btw I race in DD2 class
Hey Krists whats the difference between DD2 and KZ and KZ2?
DD2 (Direct Drive 2) only has 2 gears (if you don’t count neutral) while KZ and KZ2 have a 6 speed gearbox. There are also multiple different gearbox engines like vortex Rok Shifter, Honda, IAME.
For most people dd2 is better because its easier to drive.
Also you you dont have to use the clutch lever like with a kz2 or kz1

As hard as the kart is to drive, you could have atleast aimed for the apex.
