It's actually funny how this rendition of the song is so much more true to the atmosphere of the film. unfortunatly the tempo and rush the original edition has something special about it. Like a driving factor which i cannot pause, and have to have replayed all the time. Great for working out, running, biking or just laying in ur bed listing to. Thanks for this version! (though i still am gonna stick to the original)
I can’t imagine my life without Tarkovsky’s Solaris and Stalker. Those movies changed the way I see the world, as well as Failure changed the way I hear the world
This is fantastic (see what I did there) haha. Nah in all seriousness this version is phenomenal and absolutely breathtakingly haunting and has an eeriness to it that is just wonderful. Could image Deftones covering this and giving it a decent go.
@@Username-ng8jy forget the Clooney one, nobody can top Tarkovsky's works, he has an unique touch that speak for himself in a interpretation of what he wanted to do with the book, absolute masterpiece!!!
Guys, thanks for introducing me to this film. Just seen it 1st time a couple weeks ago. beautifully done music video. any chance youll re-release those solaris white vinyls??? thanks for being the best band
I was a long time fan of the film after being introduced to it because of Failure before finally reading the book. Stanislaw Lem was an amazingly gifted writer just as Tarkovsky and Failure are gifted filmmakers and musicians respectively. Lem's other stories are just as imaginative, beautiful, and haunting as this film and song are.
so many people have never heard of Failure - And I know so, because of the time I introduced a friend to their work. He was so intrigued, I could not get that CD, and CD's out of his car's audio player for Years, NOT MONTRHS, years. We do not speak anymore, but he is forever a changed person of musical ambition.
This was my favorite song on Fantastic Planet. I appreciate this version, but nothing beats that run-on verse, "turn to flesh and bring me back to life," in the heavy version. But hey, it's not mine to judge, Failure is a band I will always dig.
Both versions are great. This version works best as an individual single. It’s spacier and tripper than the original. The original, on the other hand, goes better with the flow of the Fantastic Planet album.
@@FailureBand Ah, fair enough, thanks for clarifying. Also wondering how this video happened. Was it used as a trailer or promotion on the FilmStruck service? Whoever edited it did a great job. -Michael EDIT: Is the full interview still available somewhere?
@@mrhobs I was the editor on this! I pitched this project to one of my producer friends at Filmstruck, and it was greenlit. Thanks for your kind words! I do have the full interview, but I'm still unsure if I can legally put it on RUclips.
@@mrhobs I made this version specifically for the band to post. It combines two separate pieces: a section of the full interview and the music video. Both were originally standalone pieces on Filmstruck.
@@chrisgrass7474 Hey Chris, great to hear from you, and interesting to hear more about this project. I mean it goes without saying, but... awesome idea, glad you got the green light, and that Failure was cool enough to do it. This cut together version for the Failure channel is a nice quick way to introduce my friends to both Failure and Solaris. (Which I just did yesterday.) I understand that its probably best to just hang on to that interview for now (no reason to get into a legal tangle), but maybe it'll surface somewhere eventually. :) Alright cheers, and keep doing cool stuff! - Michael
i first saw "solaris" on turner classic movies which i recorded on a VHS tape in 2008 as i had no idea what to expect as it was just this knockout of a film. i didn't expect it to be slow and hypnotic but that's what i love about it. i then saw a few more of his films as i own 6 of his 7 films on dvd (5 of them from criterion that will be upgraded to blu-ray soon) as he is one of the best filmmakers ever.
Love this rendition of Solaris.
I know, I almost can't decide between the two... Both are so great, lol (good analysis, I know)
Greg's head voice singing is plain gorgeous...

Spotify needs this version. Please!
i love the spacey Si Fi feel of the songs on fantastic planet especially Solaris
Solaris is probably their most underrated song.
I love you guys.
Just when I think you can't raise the bar anymore...you go and do this.

Huge respect you guys, for this homage to Tarkovski!
It always was.

Fantastic…..did you plan it? 😉
Awesome version of Solaris love this song
I keep coming back to this video. It’s so perfect with the imagery of the original film.
Always coming back to this. I wish it was a separate release.
I'm glad someone made a vid of this song with scenes of the movie.

Awesome.
what is this version!? I think I like it better than the album version. And I love the album version!
Gorgeous

Take me there, Failure!
One of my favorite music vidéo and favorite song.
I did a cover of it if you're interested !
I am. Post a link
I like this, but after hearing the original for so long it's hard for me to get used to this version.

I need this on Spotify. As do I need Wild Type Droid..but I feel game's a bogey on that one.
Anyone else wonder why this movie was allowed to be re-made?
This is a cool remake but love the OG.
:D
Not a huge deal, but the title says “2016,” whereas it should be “2014.”
video was made in 2016
